New Releases This Week: July 5 Through July 11

There is an unwritten rule in the game industry. The number of game releases in a week is inversely proportional to the average temperature in North America.

This week’s list includes four ports/secondary platform releases and an open beta. That leaves Rocket League, The Red Solstice, and NekoBuro: CatsBlock as the three releases that haven’t appeared elsewhere.

Here’s the full rundown:

Dragon Age: Inquisition To Support Cross-Generation Save Transfers

Dragon Age: Inquisition To Support Cross-Generation Save Transfers

Dragon Age: Inquisition (our review) released on last-generation consoles, but BioWare isn't supporting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions with future DLC. If you played the game on an old console but plan on upgrading to the latest model, you can continue your previous journey by bringing your save over to a newer systems thanks to a newly announced transfer feature.

The process isn't exactly simple. There are several steps to complete the transfer successfully, and you can read all the details yourself in BioWare's post. If you don't want anything in-depth, here's the short version: You need to own two copies of Dragon Age: Inquisition – one on the old system, and one on the new. You can only transfer from old consoles to new, and within the same console family; it needs to be PlayStation 3 to 4, or Xbox 360 to Xbox One. You also need the Black Emporium DLC installed on both systems, which is free. If you have any items tied to an old save (like pre-order bonuses) that you have not bought or downloaded for the new system, they will not make the transition, but the save will still transfer. If you bought a DLC pack (like Jaws of Hakkon), you can re-download it on the new system at no charge. You can also transfer your multiplayer progress.

Players cannot transfer saves from PC to any other platforms.

Two Brothers Pledged $20,000 To Shenmue III To Raise Awareness For A Non-Profit School In China

about X hours ago from

What’s the best way to draw attention to a small school in rural China? According to two brothers working with the non-profit VET Program, donating $20,000 to the Shenmue III Kickstarter should hopefully do the trick.

The $20,000 pledge is spread across two $10,000 tier pledges. According to the Kickstarter page, the first $10,000 pledge will allow the brothers to sit down with Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki and for their names to be included as a Special Sponsor in the credits of the game. Rather than have their own names featured, the pair hope to have the logo and website for their school included instead.

The second $10,000 pledge enables backers to be included in Shenmue III as a NPC. The brothers plan to ask Suzuki to instead have one of the school's teachers included as a non-violent NPC in the game.

The Coolest Exclusive Toys At San Diego Comic Con

about X hours ago from

San Diego Comic Con kicks off on July 9, and should be the source of plenty of comic book, movie, video game, and action figure news. This show has also become the destination for collectors. Almost every manufacturer and vendor at the show has some kind of exclusive to give away or sell. These hot items are rarely sold outside of the show, and end up going for ridiculous prices in second-hand markets.

This year's show boasts hundreds of exclusives, ranging from Star Wars toys to Chia Pet version of Masters of the Universe's Moss Man. We took a look at the exclusives and narrowed the field to the ones that we wanted the most, as well as all of the video game collectibles. Here's the list:

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes "Jamais Vu" / Raiden 1/6 Scale Statue, White Armor VersionThis Raiden repaint by Gecco Corp sells for $195 and comes with an assault rifle and rocket launcher.

Patch 1.05 will be bringing new fixes to the game, but perhaps the most interesting thing found in currently available patch notes is the concept of scaling to the host when there's a significant level discrepancy between host and guest.

From the the update page:

Update 1.05 will be released right after the server maintenance. The details on the update are as follows.

Perhaps The Cutest Pokémon Cosplay You'll Ever See

Perhaps The Cutest Pokémon Cosplay You'll Ever See

A video posted on Reddit shows one of the cutest cosplays yet – a happy baby dressed up as Magikarp from Pokémon. No information accompanied the video, but from what we can see, it appears dad is dressed up as famed Dragon Ball Z character, Goku.

Of the hundreds of Pokémon out there, Magikarp has to rank as one of the least to ever be called "cute" or "adorable." We'd love to know how this specific Pokémon was selected as a cosplay option. Regardless of the reasons, the outfit is beautifully designed, and the kid absolutely rocks it.
