While many innovators have been focused on fully immersive virtual reality experiences, Microsoft opted to walk a different path. The company has been working on augmented reality, ultimately resulting in the HoloLens head-mounted computer.
We had the chance to check out HoloLens at E3 (you can read Bryan Vore’s impressions and my own). One of the things that wasn’t accurately communicated in Microsoft’s E3 stage presentation and the HoloLens-equipped camera is that the field of view is limited.

OK, so the first Heroes series went a bit off the rails at the end there. The plot got confusing, and the whole bit with the carnival was strange. But, if at first you don’t succeed, don your horn-rimmed glasses and try, try again.
This fall, NBC is giving the super-powered universe another shot with Heroes Reborn. Alongside it will launch two different games, one for mobile devices, and another for consoles.
Heroes Reborn: Gemini, the console and PC game, is a first-person adventure starring a character named Cassandra. Heroes Reborn: Enigma is a first-person puzzle game starring a super-powered character named Dahlia. The stories are self-contained, but there are character and narrative connections.
With Dishonored 2 and a definitive edition of the original announced, you might be wondering what you can do to pass the time. A YouTuber by the name of “StealthGamerBR” suggests you take that time to get on his level.
In a series of videos, StealthGamerBR shows finely honed skills that leave countless Dunwall guards dead and in multiple pieces. With a combination of straight-up brutality and blindingly fast use of abilities, his Corvo probably puts yours to shame.
This latest video takes us on a bloody jaunt to kidnap Sokolov, the royal physician. You may have seen another of StealthGamerBR’s high chaos Dishonored runthroughs recently, featuring the mission to assassinate Lady Boyle.
Update: Ghostbusters director Paul Feig updated his twitter feed with another behind-the-scenes image of the upcoming film. This one shows off the Ecto-1, the emergency vehicle the Ghostbusters use to track down ghost encounters.
Original Story: A new Ghostbusters film is slated to hit movie theaters on July 22, 2016. Filming is currently underway, and the movie's director, Paul Feig, is giving us our first look at the film through teaser images released on his Twitter page.
The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, an ensemble that makes up an all-female Ghostbusters cast. Series star Dan Aykroyd told CBR that this sequel builds off of the previous two films. "It refers to the first two in a really neat, classy way, but this is all going to introduce them to a whole new generation of girls that are going to want to be Ghostbusters," he said. "We always needed them."
It wasn’t even September when readers started asking when we’d publish the initial list of 2015 release dates. Our ever-popular and regularly updated roster of launch dates for the new year is here.
If you see anything we’ve missed, please let us know in the comments. Please note that games will not get assigned to a month until they have confirmed release dates. Prior to that, they will appear in the bottom grouping.
Parents who sense a disturbance in their wallets aren't just feeling things: Disney Interactive has announced the release date for the third installment in the Disney Infinity series. Players will be able to add a little more Star Wars to their lives starting near the end of August.
There are several ways to buy Disney Infinity 3.0, which could create a bit of confusion. Here's how it all breaks down:
First, regardless of how you plan on buying the game, it's going to be available starting August 30 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. This is where the paths begin to diverge. Players can go the traditional route, purchasing the Starter Pack at retail for about $65. It includes the Disney Infinity 3.0 disc, the Star Wars Twilight of the Republic playset, the Disney Infinity base, and two figures: Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. The game is also available as a download, and players who decide to go that route can purchase that playset (and its corresponding figures) separately.
Activision is continuing the trend of Skylanders collector’s editions this year with Superchargers. Those who want a suped up version of the starter kit can choose to go Dark.
For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3, the contents of the Dark Edition are as follows:
Dark Spitfire (figure) Dark Hot Streak (vehicle) Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf (figure) Dark Sea Shadow (vehicle) Kaos Trophy - Unlocks special Kaos content
The Escapists The Walking Dead (shown) is standalone game by The Escapists developer Team17 featuring Rick Grimes and a band of survivors looking for a way out of danger. The game has the same timeline as the comics, so players will see locations they know and love.
The Escapists The Walking Dead comes out for Xbox One and PC this year.
Batgirl needs help, and The Joker has threatened to kill the captive Commissioner Gordon if Batman shows his pointy ears. Thankfully, there are other allies she can call upon.
In this trailer for the upcoming Batgirl: A Matter of Family DLC, we see Barbara Gordon team up with Robin to take down Joker and Harley. You’ll be able to play this prequel story beginning on July 14 for season pass holders on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
