What Remaining Wii U Games Do You Want Ported To Switch?

What Remaining Wii U Games Do You Want Ported To Switch?

Today marks the release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. I spent much of the last week revisiting the 2D platformer from the Wii U launch (you can read my review here), and it reminded me of just how many good games released on the Wii U despite the system never really finding a substantial audience. I want more of those now-hidden gems to make their ways to Switch.

We've already received several great games from Wii U, such as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Pokkén Tournament, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta 2 on Switch, but we've barely scratched the surface of worthwhile Wii U titles. Personally, my top pick remains Super Mario 3D World, but I'd also really love to see enhanced ports of games like Yoshi's Woolly World, Super Mario Maker, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (and Twilight Princess HD for that matter – part of my "Put All Zelda Games on Switch" initiative), and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE.

Which Wii U games would you most like to see make the leap to Switch? Let us know in the comments section!

Resident Evil 2 '1-Shot' Demo Is Now Live

Update 1/11/2019 - The demo is now available

Capcom has announced a demo for Resident Evil 2 is coming this Friday, but you're not going to want to screw around in this one.

The "1-Shot Demo" for Resident Evil 2, which hits on PS4, Xbox One, and PC January 11 and expires January 31, has you playing as Leon "as he arrives at Raccoon City Police Station in the ultimate worst first day on the job." You have 30 minutes mow down a few zombies, solve a few puzzles, and get out of the station.

Netflix's Bandersnatch Being Sued By Choose Your Own Adventure Book Publisher

Netflix's Bandersnatch Being Sued By Choose Your Own Adventure Book Publisher

Netflix's Bandersnatch is one of the biggest instances of interactive fiction hitting the mainstream in the last few years. Players can decide how the story proceeds in big and small ways and might make some older viewers remember the heyday of the Choose Your Own Adventure genre of books. Those usually youth-oriented books would give readers choices for how they want the narrative to proceed and task them with flipping to a specific page to pick up based on their choice. I had a bunch of Mario-themed ones and would then inevitably fail by reading them in the car and turning to the wrong page during a bumpy ride.

It turns out that the publisher behind the Choose Your Own Adventure books, the appropriately named Chooseco LLC., thinks that Netflix is trading on more than just nostalgia for that bygone era and has filed suit against the company for at least $25 million in damages.

The Witcher Geralt Comes To Monster Hunter: World Next Month

The Witcher Geralt Comes To Monster Hunter: World Next Month

Late last year, Capcom announced that Geralt of Rivia, the main character of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series, would be coming to Monster Hunter: World as a guest character. The White Wolf will be arriving, silver sword in tow, on February 8 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as part of a free update.

Notice I said guest character and not skin. Unlike some of Monster Hunter: World's other crossover events, like Aloy from Horizon or Ryu from Street Fighter, Geralt is not just your hunter wearing a costume. Capcom hasn't fully detailed him yet, but they said they have been working with CDPR for quite a while on this meeting of worlds, going as far as getting Geralt's silken-voiced actor to record new lines for the game. Might we be hearing Geralt exasperatedly bemoan that Bazelgeuse is interrupting his hunt again? We can only hope so.

There's no word on when the Witcher update will hit PC, as Capcom still keeps the console and PC versions on staggered schedules. All platforms are participating in the Monster Hunter: World Appreciation Fest later this month, however, starting January 26. Capcom hasn't detailed what that will entail, but they will likely celebrate the one-year anniversary of the game with new gear and a return of every time-limited quest again.

Kingdom Hearts III Has An Epilogue That Will Be Patched In After Launch

Square-Enix took to Twitter today to lay out the road map for DLC and updates to Kingdom Hearts III. And like the series' chronology, it's a bit of a doozy at first glance.

You can glance at all the tweets in the link below for the full reading but the biggest points are as follows: an epilogue will be added to Kingdom Hearts on Wednesday, January 30. That's a day after it releases worldwide. On January 31, a "secret video" will be unlocked for players who have fulfilled the criteria for acquiring it. Hit the twitter link below for the full schedule.

Unity And Improbable Have Public Argument, Improbable Teams Up With Epic To Encourage Developers Away From Unity

Unity And Improbable Have Public Argument, Improbable Teams Up With Epic To Encourage Developers Away From Unity

This is a story I have been trying to write all day, but new things keep happening in it, and very little of it makes sense. A British company called Improbable Worlds Limited, has a game platform called SpatialOS, which itself uses the game engine Unity and is known for games like Worlds Adrift and the upcoming Lazarus, and it is used in several released and in-development games. Early this morning, Improbable issued a statement that alarmed many developers stating Unity found Improbable and SpatialOS in breach of their terms of service and puts all the game using SpatialOS at risk.

"Unity has clarified to us that this change effectively makes it a breach of terms to operate or create SpatialOS games using Unity, including in development and production games," Improbable wrote in their statement. "In addition, Unity has revoked our ability to continue working with the engine for breaching the newly changed terms of service in an unspecified way. This will affect our ability to support games."

Red Dead Redemption II's PS4 Exclusives Are Now Available On Xbox One

Red Dead Redemption II's PS4 Exclusives Are Now Available On Xbox One

Sony securing the Red Dead Redemption II marketing deal likely did a lot for the PlayStation 4's good fortunes this past year. Part of that deal included exclusive content, which means content that isn't on Xbox One, to entice people to buy the game on the PS4. Whether or not anyone actually bought Red Dead on the PS4 because of this stuff is debatable, but those items are now available for Xbox One owners to decide for themselves.

As part of today's Red Dead Online update, which includes a battle royale mode, Rockstar tucked away a small note indicating that the previously locked-away items are now unleashed on Xbox One.

"Xbox One players can also now access the Red Chestnut Arabian Horse, Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle and the High Roller Double-Action Revolver in the Red Dead Online Beta," the update notes read.
