EA Access Will Enable Xbox One Owners To Play Star Wars Battlefront First

Star Wars Battlefront is widely considered to be one of the most anticipated games of 2015. With that in mind, EA may have made one of the most compelling cases for picking up an EA Access subscription yet, as head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, confirmed that the shooter will be made available to EA Access subscribers on Xbox One before launch.

Players can pick up an EA Access subscription for $4.99 a month or $29.99 for the entire year. In addition to giving players the ability to play games from EA before launch, the subscription also grants a 10% discount on all digital purchases of EA games on Xbox One, as well as unlimited access to several games in EA's Vault. As of now, the service is exclusive to Xbox One.

Tonight's Cake Wars Episode Features Mario-Themed Cakes

Tonight's episode of Cake Wars features a video game inspired twist: the show's contestants will be baking Mario-themed cakes. The best cake earns its owner $10,000, with Nintendo's Krysta Yang on hand to help determine who takes home the prize. When not judging cake quality, Yang works as a public relations assistant for Nintendo of America.

As per usual, four contestants have been selected for the competition.  Each contestant will prepare a cake for a Mario Maker party, but only the winner will "accompany their cake to the massive celebration." We expect these cakes to look impressive, but it remains to be seen whether they top Tracy Rockwell's Mario Kart cake or Mario's 25th Anniversary cake.

If you would like to watch, tune in to the Food Network at 8 EST.

Celebrate Early At EVO And You Will Probably Lose Like This

about X hours ago from

EVO is the world stage for fighting games, do don't expect any mercy –  especially when you celebrate a little too early. Woshige learned this lesson the hard way during his fight with Guilty Gear Xrd "god" Ogawa. Take a look, courtesy of RoBoT SheKeiB:

Woshige ties up the match with flair, then shoots up from his seat to raise his fists in premature victory. A little showboating probably wouldn't have hurt Woshige too much, except that the next round started before he was even back in his seat. Ogawa proceeded to tear up Woshige's defenseless character in a little over ten seconds.

Ultra Street Fighter IV Final Breaks EVO Championship Viewer Record

The 2015 EVO Championship Series was the fighting game tournament's biggest year on record according to early returns. GamesIndustry reports that more than 250,000 viewers tuned in to watch the Ultra Street Fighter IV finals between Momochi (as Evil Ryu) and GamerBee (as Adon).

The final showdown sparked controversy when Momochi's Razer fight stick lost its connection after his first-round win, which according to tournament rules required a forfeiture of the second round. GamerBee wasn't able to capitalize on this turn of events, however, and Momochi emerged victorious while using the Mad Catz replacement stick provided by EVO. Doing so earned him the $33,000 purse.

Fresh off the World Cup win, deadly USWNT forward Alex Morgan becomes the first female to grace the cover of FIFA.

The former U.S. female athlete of the year and FIFA world player of the year finalist, Morgan has registered 52 goals in 91 caps for the United States during international play. Recovering from a knee injury in the lead-up to the 2015 World Cup, she nonetheless earned her starting spot back in the last group match against Nigeria. She scored in a win against Columbia and drew two penalties in the knockout rounds.

“It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA SPORTS FIFA,” Morgan said in a press statement. “I know people all over the world play this game and I’m really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women’s soccer.  And now to share the cover with today’s greatest player is surreal.”

Watch One Of The Best Comebacks At EVO This Year

The EVO Championship Series is the time for epic, come-from-behind victories. That's exactly what happened when Sleep NS squared off against UA My God in Killer Instinct. My God's Sabrewulf had Sleep NS' Kan-Ra against the ropes with under a minute to go. After a vicious combo, Kan-Ra only had a pixel of health left while Sabrewulf had an entire reserve bar. Just one hit, and Sleep NS would lose the match. Check out YoutTube user baxt3ria's archive of those nerve-wracking 50 seconds:

It looked like My God was content to play conservative and let the match timer run out. However, the crowd started booing him and he got more aggressive. Sleep NS countered and went on the offensive, defeating him in 15 seconds.

The game features a collection of 32 UNSC miniature ship models, 17 Covenant miniature ship models, and 30 custom Halo dice among other included art books and extra accessories. You can see some images of the pieces in the gallery below.

You can also find more about the game on Spartan Games' website here. It's worth noting that the company's name, Spartan Games, and its relation to Halo, are totally coincidental.
