Star Wars Blu-Rays To Be Re-Released In Gorgeous Limited Edition Steelbooks

It's hardly shocking when the Star Wars films are re-released in a new way, but Disney may have done it in a manner that could entice even more fans to pick up the films yet again. Though the Star Wars saga was originally released on Blu-Ray in 2011, this new collection places them in beautiful steelbooks.

The Blu-Rays in the steelbooks feature all six of the first Star Wars films with previously released audio commentary from George Lucas and the film crew plus audio commentary from previously released interviews with members of the cast and crew. The steelbooks feature striking images of Darth Maul, Yoda, General Grievous, Darth Vader, a Stormtrooper, and Emperor Palpatine. If you'd like to see the images in bigger sizes, you can check out the gallery below.

The steelbook releases of the first six Star Wars films will be available on November 10 – just in time for you to refresh your memory before the December 18 release of The Force Awakens – with pre-orders starting on August 7. If you're just looking to buy the Blu-Rays of the saga without the added steelbooks, Star Wars: The Complete Saga will also receive its own repackaging with new artwork on October 13.

Final Fantasy XV Is 65 Percent Done, Release Date In Sight

Today at Gamescom, I had the pleasure of chatting with Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. Tabata discussed the long-running project's progress and if we'll hear a release date soon.

We've been awaiting a long time for Final Fantasy XV to reach the light of the day, but we're inching closer to a release date announcement. At last year's TGS, Tabata said Final Fantasy XV was about 50 to 60 percent complete. After releasing a demo and an update to it, he says the project is now around 65 percent." We can see the release date now," Tabata says.

Although, Final Fantasy XV didn't have an E3 presence, the game is about to get its time to shine with upcoming shows like PAX Prime and TGS, which will feature new information and footage. "We are seeing these big events, such as Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, and PAX Prime to kickstart the promotional phase," he adds.

Uncharted And Resident Evil Movies Get 2017 Release Dates

Uncharted And Resident Evil Movies Get 2017 Release Dates

Sony has detailed its film release schedule through 2017, and that slate features two prominent video game movies in addition to several other popular franchises.

Most noteworthy for gamers is the Uncharted film, which has been in the works since at least 2010. Nathan Drake's big screen adventure is currently set to release on June 30, 2017, placing Uncharted in the summer blockbuster months. Unfortunately, this date is far from guaranteed, as the making of this movie has proven tumultuous, with writers and directors coming and going regularly. Prior to this, the project was given a 2016 release date. Most recently, the Uncharted film lost Seth Gordon, its director.

Those hoping to see the new Resident Evil movie will have to wait for nearly another year and a half as the film previously known as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is scheduled to hit on January 27, 2017. The delay was made to work around star Milla Jovovich's pregnancy. Now, the project is simply known as Resident Evil 6 and will also star Ali Larter, who appeared in Resident Evil: Extinction and Afterlife as Claire Redfield.

Square Enix Calls Tomb Raider A 'Trilogy'

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the second title in the rebooted tale of Lara Croft, but it sounds as though it won't be the last. Phil Rogers, CEO of Square Enix Americas, referred to the series as "the Tomb Raider trilogy," signaling that there will be one more entry in this arc.

Speaking to GameSpot, Rogers talked about the timed Xbox exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider, calling it, "the right thing to do with Tomb Raider right now." He continued, saying, "What it's done for the sake of the studio and the next beat with the Tomb Raider trilogy... But the backlash is--we've watched carefully and we believe it's the right thing to do."

We've reached out to Square Enix for comment on Rogers' quote and will update the story if we receive a response.
