World Of Warcraft's Next Expansion Is Legion

At Gamescom 2015, Blizzard unveiled many details regarding the next World of Warcraft expansion, Legion.

Players will fend off the Burning Legion and its hordes as Azeroth falls under its demonic gaze, and they won't be doing it without new tools. The level cap will be increasing to 110 (up from 100), a new Demon Hunter hero class will be available, players can band together in class halls, and perhaps the most interesting - players will have access to powerful iconic artifact weapons (like the Doomhammer and Ashbringer!) that provide a new form of progression.

This post will be continually updated over the course of the reveal presentation, which you can watch live here http://www.blizzgc.com/

Battleborn Releasing In 2016

There was some hope that Gearbox's Battleborn first-person shooter would be out this year, but it looks like gamers are going to have to wait until early 2016 to get their hands on the MOBA-like title.

Battleborn comes out on February 9 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Gamers will get a chance to play the title before then, however, via an open beta – more details on which will appear later this year.

[Update] Square Enix Strongly Hints At, But Doesn't Guarantee, 2016 Release For FFXV

Update: We caught up with Final Fantasy director Hajime Tabata this morning to clarify the release window for Final Fantasy XV. The director had more information for us, giving us hope for the full game next year.

Earlier today, Gamespot reported that Tabata confirmed a 2016 release. When we checked in, Tabata said that Final Fantasy XV definitely will not be released this year. He would also be quite disappointed if it released as late as 2017.

A Square Enix representative told us that more specific release details will be coming soon, as we reported yesterday in the original story below. The company would not confirm that the game will be released in 2016 or, to directly address what Tabata said to Gamespot, that it won't slip to 2017.

Reader Discussion: Are You Watching Dota 2’s International Championship?

about X hours ago from

Right now, teams of gamers are competing for over $18 Million dollars in prize money by playing Dota 2 in Seattle’s KeyArena. Are you watching this event? If not, what would it take to get you to check out the eSport?

Dota 2's International has amassed the largest prize pool in eSport history, so there is a lot on the line for those playing, and that means tensions are high, which could lead to some interesting matches. But do you care? If you haven’t played – or even watched a game of Dota 2 before – it probably seems a little confusing. You might be thinking, "why would I watch a game, when I could be playing it?" If you feel that way, what would it take to get you to check out a Dota 2 match?

New Story Details From Final Fantasy XV's Director

New Story Details From Final Fantasy XV's Director

Square Enix just released a new Final Fantasy XV trailer that focused on the story elements, showing some of the events that lead up to the game's story. With a mysterious girl, a dog aimlessly wandering the streets, and a young Noctis being held by his father, the new tease brought just as many questions as it did excitement. Today at Gamescom, we sat down with director Hajime Tabata to get the lowdown on it all.

Up until this point, not much has been revealed about the narrative, making Tabata feel like now was a good time to devote an entire trailer to it. The trailer is set 15 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV, and Tabata said all the footage is in-game and real time.

While the story will certainly focus on Noctis and his friends' journey, Tabata says that a big pillar of the narrative will be the father and son dynamic, as showcased in the trailer. Interpersonal bonds is a main theme of the game and this is just one more way to showcase that. In the new art released (see below), you see Noctis' infamous black car in the background, and apparently it actually belongs to his dad. "That's sort of the metaphor representing the relationship between Noctis and his father through the car," Tabata explains.
