Freddy Krueger Gets A New Figure Inspired A Nightmare on Elm Street On NES

about X hours ago from

Freddy Krueger has come back to haunt the dreams of figure collectors and horror fans. Collectibles manufacturer NECA has announced a second Freddy Krueger toy from the NES adaptation of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

NECA previously released a 7-inch Freddy Krueger toy in 2013 based off of the same game, which was discontinued sometime after. The 2013 figure was originally sold as a companion to the San Diego Comic Con exclusive 7-inch Jason Voorhees 8-bit toy, modeled after the character's purple color scheme in the NES adaptation of Friday the 13th. In addition to the new 8-inch Freddy Krueger toy, an 8-inch Voorhees figure has also been made available for pre-order.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, which released on the NES in 1989, received mostly negative reviews. Despite that, the game remains a cult classic for its connection to the iconic horror villain.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash Takes The Court Right Before Black Friday

Nintendo is squeezing one more title in before the biggest shopping day of the year. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash has a November release date.

The game was first revealed at E3 this year, and we had some hands on time with it. The roster hasn’t been fully detailed, and the only power up we’ve played with so far is the super mushroom.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash slides in between Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water and Xenoblade Chronicles X with a November 20 release date. It supports up to four players and will retail for $49.99.

Where Is Our Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Review?

It's been a long wait for the return of the mainline Tony Hawk video game franchise, and it's going to be a little longer before we render our final verdict on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.

The game promises to take us back to the series' bread-and-butter, trick-based skating gameplay. We're excited to get back on our board, but publisher Activision did not sent out review code in advance of the game's release, which is today.

THPS 5 will also be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 10 at a cheaper price, but this downloadable-only version does not feature online play.

Hitman Is Now Coming At Two Different Price Points On March 11, 2016

Following the Hitman E3 announcement, Square Enix and IO Interactive faced significant confusion about just what players would be getting for their $60 purchase. Today, the publisher and studio are clearly detailing how and when you can play, as well as what you can expect in terms of content.

The $60 all-in option is still on the table. That gets you all of the initial gameplay material and everything that comes down the line. However, because the game is being rolled out in stages, there will be an “intro pack” for $35.

The lower priced option gives you access to everything available on day one. This includes locations, live events, and contracts. In effect, there is no difference in what a $60 player gets and what a $35 player gets until there is more released.

For those that prefer to get their PlayStation Plus games directly from the console instead of the web interface, there’s an easier way to do that. PlayStation Plus has its own section on the home screen so you can check out free games and discounts.

Project Spark Is Going Fully Free Starting Next Week

Microsoft has announced that its game creation toolset, Project Spark, will move from its microtransaction model to a new free, open creation model starting on October 5. Because of this, new and existing users of the game will be able to access previously paid DLC.

In addition to the move to free, Skybox Labs and Team Dakota's Project Spark is receiving an update on that same day to add new features. The changes include big boosts in the maximum terrain and maximum prop limit, over 200 new assets, a push to 100 total upload slots for each creator, and the removal of the Project Spark Marketplace, as well as the Project Spark Tour and Treasure Trove. The team has also revamped the achievements to cater more towards players and creators, and has changed the UGC ranking system to be based on downloads and favorites instead of up-votes and down-votes.

With the transition to a fully free model, those who have already spent money on Project Spark will be entitled to Microsoft Store credit equal to how much money they spent. The credit will be applied to accounts 30 to 60 days following October 5. Project Spark originally released last year to mixed reviews. If you’d like to learn more about what we thought of the creation tools, you can check out Kyle Hilliard’s review here.
