Reader Discussion: What’s The Weirdest Game You’ve Ever Played?

Video games are no stranger to the bizarre; they don’t have to follow the natural rules of the universe, and so they often don’t. What are some of the weirdest games you’ve ever played?

The other day, I was thinking about how strange the original Super Mario Bros. is; we are pretty used to the game now, but it’s really crazy if you think about it. Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker another really crazy game, as it has you rescuing children from closets and the defeating mobsters with dance moves. More recently, the game Tokyo Jungle had players running through a post-apocalyptic Tokyo as a Pomeranian. These are all strange things, but they might not be the strangest things that have happened in a game.

What are some of the weirdest games you’ve ever played? What’s the weirdest game you’ve actually enjoy it?

Angry Birds Will Fly In Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

They’ve invaded smartphones, energy drinks, and even theme parks, so what’s one more box on the checklist? Angry Birds developer Rovio has announced that series mascot Red is receiving his own float in the 89th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Angry Birds float features Red mid-stride with his egg clutched like a football. Red stands at 45.5 feet tall, 29.7 feet wide, and 44 feet long. Red’s eyebrows are listed as 7 feet wide, so despite the cold November air it might be the biggest scowl during the event, which draws over three million live spectators.

You can see Red and other gaming mascots like Pikachu and Skylanders’ Eruptor on November 26 in New York City. The event airs nationwide on NBC-TV from 9 a.m to noon in all timezones. The Angry Birds Movie releases in theaters May 2016. Check out our story on the first trailer.

Chris Roberts Disputes Veracity Of New Inflammatory Star Citizen Allegations

Star Citizen has become an internet soap opera over the past few months. And while those might be fun to watch on television, when $90 million hangs in the balance, the stakes are too high for laughs.

Earlier today, The Escapist published a three-page story detailing alleged problems with developer Cloud Imperium Games and its CEO, Chris Roberts. The piece includes allegations about the company’s wasteful spending, dwindling resources, and a studio closure in Austin.

When the article went live, it included a note that CIG failed to respond by The Escapist’s deadline. Shortly after the outlet went to print, Roberts made public his email response, which addressed several points of the article. CIG tells us this was sent more than three hours before the deadline it was given by The Escapist. In turn, the publication claims that CIG only replied to its managing editor (who sent the request for comment) and didn't copy other staff members included in the email.

Trackmania Turbo Skids Out Of 2015

Ubisoft has announced a delay for Trackmania Turbo, with the game skidding out of 2015, missing its planned December 1 release. Developer Nadeo needs more time across a number of areas.

Items on the docket for improvement include the campaign, interface, and multiplayer modes. The last of these requires additional testing to ensure that the online services are stable when the game does launch.

In addition to improvements in previously announced content, Nadeo will be adding a mode to challenge friends on user-created tracks. As part of this, the track builder will be getting some refinements for ease of use. The random generator will also be improved before launch.
