Reader Discussion: What Do You Want To See Out Of BlizzCon 2015?

about X hours ago from

BlizzCon is quickly approaching, and rumors will inevitably begin to spiral out of control as we get closer and closer to the November 6 start date for the event. Whether it's Warcraft 4 or another Diablo III expansion pack, the buzz surrounding Blizzard's conference often reaches epic Murloc proportions.

What would you like to see? We can safely assume that Blizzard's big IPs will all be touched on in some fashion, from World of Warcraft to Overwatch, but there's always room for some healthy speculation  and crazy wishes. I mean, we all know that Ghost is totally coming back now that StarCraft's recent trilogy will be wrapping up with Legacy of the Void.

Play Your Steam Games On Any TV In The House With Valve's New Steam Link Trailer

Sometimes playing Team Fortress 2 on your PC just isn't good enough - you've got to show the whole house (or the bubbles in your bathtub) all the action as your Scout bonks and your Heavy eats sammiches. Valve has released a new trailer featuring the cast of their iconic team shooter to help illustrate some of the functionality of the new Steam link. Check it out below!

Our TakeI'm not sure if it's ever going to be something for me, but more options are always better and I'm eager to see the uses players find for Steam Link

Weekend Warrior 10/16/15

Weekend Warrior 10/16/15

Much of the Game Informer staff is either trying to wrap up Witcher 3 or diving into the Hearts of Stone expansion this weekend. Those of us not enslaved to Geralt are enjoying other titles such as Yoshi’s Woolly World, Until Dawn, Mad Max, and Metal Gear Solid V. Two interns will also bond over a mutual love of  anime and pro wrestling.

What are you playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Joseph Knoop (@JosephKnoop)–I’ve been away from the Witcher long enough that returning to its oppressive, beautiful world doesn’t strike me with fear, so clearly it’s time I hopped back in for the Hearts of Stone expansion. The best stories in Wild Hunt were almost always the inventive side quests, so one big extra mission (that I hear is as long as the Bloody Baron’s portion of Wild Hunt) is exciting. I’ll likely be continuing my streak of ignoring anyone who asks to play Gwent, too.

PSA: PlayStation Flash Sale Targets Survival Games

Looking for something to play on the cheap this weekend while you’re waiting for your next big game? Sony’s running another flash sale, this time focused on survival games.

The deals include games on all three systems, as well as movies. Included are titles like Don’t Starve, Metro Redux, and Tokyo Jungle.

There are also some games that are a bit of a stretch for the theme, but are worth your attention nonetheless. Darksiders II (PS3), XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and Bastion are available.

'Very Small' Number Of Active EA Accounts Present In Recent Data Dump

about X hours ago from

A report has surfaced indicating that personally identifiable information tied to some EA accounts has been made public. The data has been removed from Pastebin, on which it appeared, but not before the exposure allegedly caused problems for some.

The initial report of the breach came from CSO, which says it was contacted by an individual whose email address, password, and game list were present in the dump. According to the story, some of the information present has been tied to other breaches, including the recent Patreon intrusion.

When reached for comment, an EA representative told us that there was no evidence of a breach resulting in the data dump. “Privacy and security is our top priority at EA,” the representative tells us via email. “At this point, we have no indication that this list was obtained through an intrusion of our account databases. In an abundance of caution, we're taking steps to secure any account that has an EA user ID that matches the usernames on this list.  As always, we encourage all players to safeguard their account credentials and use unique usernames and passwords on all online accounts.”

Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Borrows From Mirror’s Edge With Freerun Multiplayer Mode

Call of Duty: Black Ops III introduces new movement options for the soldiers of the future. You’ll be able to wall-run, power slide, and pull of strings of moves to get through the perilous environments.

To help players become more familiar with the traversal system, Treyarch is introducing the new Freerun mode. This features four courses that become progressively more complicated puzzles.

Players will compete solo against the clock for spots on the leaderboard. It evolved from a test environment used to perfect the movement system and matured into puzzles that include target shooting that factors into final time results.

Microsoft Adapts To The Times With Digital Halo 5 Midnight Launch Event

Midnight launches for huge games, including Halo titles, are an institution. With more players purchasing their games digitally though, the phenomenon doesn’t have the same impact that it used to.

Microsoft is adapting its strategy for the launch of Halo 5 on October 27. For six hours leading up to the release (on the United States West Coast), the publisher is teaming up with YouTube for a slate of programming to celebrate the game.

The event will feature the first streaming episode of The Fall of Reach animated series, a roundtable with Halo 5’s writers and actor Nathan Fillion, and documentaries featuring Halo superfans. There will also be live events held in New Zealand, Hong Kong, New York, and others.

Marvel Puzzle Quest Arrives Without Free To Play Model Today

Marvel Puzzle Quest has been a mobile hit, where it’s been free-to-play since launch. As we reported earlier this month, the console release is going to shift to a premium model. It arrives today.

The $14.99 base game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 today. The Xbox 360 version appears to be available now, the PlayStation versions are not posted as of writing. An Xbox One version is also planned and may simply not be available on the marketplace yet.

Additionally, there are two DLC story lines. One features the Hulk, as the Dark Avengers attempt to recruit him. Purchasing the Science Friction DLC gets you Punisher. Completing it on Hard lets you add Hulk to your team.

Rockstar Games is adding significant vehicle customization to Grand Theft Auto online thanks to lowriders from Benny's Original Motor Works in downtown Strawberry in South Los Santos.

The new shop and customization options hit October 20, and it starts by selecting from a half-dozen vehicles that can be upgraded to unlock custom lowrider mods. This includes interior and exterior tweaks, from hydraulics to gaudy upholstery.

Players can show off their creation to others by opening up the doors, trunk, hood, and by flashing your neon.

Report: Nintendo Begins Distributing NX Software Development Kits

There has been much speculation about what the NX would actually be and when it will arrive. We know we won’t have any official information until 2016, but a new report indicates software development kits have started arriving at some developers.

The Wall Street Journal suggests what we have heard before circulated as rumor, including that the console might arrive next year and be a two-part device for home and on-the-go gaming. The story also indicates that Nintendo could be approaching the NX differently, opting for relatively more powerful hardware.

The Wii and Wii U have been considered underpowered compared to competing consoles from Microsoft and Sony. With new leadership following the untimely passing of former president Satoru Iwata, it is possible that Nintendo could be shifting its approach to the market.
