Halo 5: Guardians Soundtrack Comes In $50 Limited Edition Flavor, Too

You won’t be able to own the Halo 5: Guardians soundtrack for another 10 days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t listen to it right now. The entire 39-track collection is streaming on Soundcloud right now. But for some, that’s not enough.

The standard Amazon and iTunes versions are up for pre-order ($15.99), you’ll be able to buy a CD with MP3 download code ($24.99), and there’s a clear vinyl version available only at Hastings locations ($24.99, 1,000 copy limited run, comes with MP3 download code). Still, even that might not be enough for you.

For Halo and music enthusiasts, a $49.99 collection might be the way to go. It includes two CDs, two vinyl records, a 5.1 surround sound blu-ray version of the music, sheet music from the Abby Roads recording sessions, and digitally distributed bonus tracks.

Rockstar Adds New Modes And Other Tweaks In GTA Online Lowriders Update

We’ve covered the GTA Online Lowriders update a number of times, as Rockstar has slowly doled out information. Today we know the extent of what players are getting in the free content push.

In addition to the new vehicles and customization options, Lowrider adds three new adversarial modes. Keep the Pace borrows from Speed, forcing players to stay above the minimum velocity or explode. Offense Defense is an asymmetrical mode with runners racing toward the end of a route while protectors try and stop them. Relay takes us back to grade school field day as team members run laps and pass the proverbial baton to another.

A new scene creator gives Rockstar Editor fans the ability to set up specific scenarios. You can place props from a catalog of more than 200 and save four settings for maximum mayhem.

[Update] Konami Allegedly Denies Kojima Departure, Says Staff On Post-Launch Vacation

Update #2: Konami has reportedly made a statement denying Kojima's departure and claiming it knows nothing about a celebratory send-off detailed in The New Yorker's report. While Konami declined to comment to us (and other Western outlets), it allegedly made a statement to Tokyo Sports.

Kotaku translated the statement, which indicates that Kojima is still listed as an employee and that he and other staff members are taking a vacation after the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and its competitive component, Metal Gear Online. In response, Simon Parkin, who authored The New Yorker's story, tweeted a picture of a staff gathering.

Here is a photograph of Kojima's farewell party on October 9th at Konami, which Konami claims no knowledge of: pic.twitter.com/xgRUoYs5qt

Breaking Down The New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

Breaking Down The New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

J. J. Abrams' and Disney's new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is loaded with emotion and shots that hark back to the glory days of the classic trilogy. Although we finally hear numerous characters talk, the story still remains a mystery. The recently released movie poster perhaps gives us the best hint as to what the Empire First Order may be up to (note the image behind Finn), but everything else is anyone's guess.

The trailer did confirm that someone, possibly Finn, Poe, or Rey, has the Force. If the dialogue in the trailer matches up with the images, we also learn that Kylo Ren is intent on finishing what Vader or the Empire started. Think about that for a second: How much do we know about the Empire or Vader's plans? The most impressive shots in the trailer of how young and Han Solo-ish Harrison Ford looks again. Chewbacca's hair looks more old manish than Solo's.

The trailer does have a handful of hidden little things that you may not have seen watching it in motion. I didn't catch most of them until I went through the trailer frame-by-frame. Here's what you may have missed:

With tickets finally on sale for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney debuted a new trailer during Monday Night Football on ESPN tonight. The trailer is now available online.

The trailer was announced alongside the reveal of the official poster, which hints at several plot points in the film. You can check out the poster here, and the trailer below, but if you've been maintaining a policy of media blackout for The Force Awakens, you'll probably want to skip both. If you're not exercising such a policy, however, you can also check out the previous trailer here.

Reader Discussion: Are You Picking Up Guitar Hero Live?

Reader Discussion: Are You Picking Up Guitar Hero Live?

Guitar Hero Live launches tomorrow and delivers several innovations to not only the franchise, but to the genre as a whole. With Rock Band 4 going the more traditional route in terms of gameplay and feature-set, Guitar Hero Live is viewed by many as the more ambitious release. Is that enough for you to splurge on a new game with new hardware, though?

As a die-hard Guitar Hero and Rock Band fan, I'm excited and intrigued by the features that Guitar Hero Live is bringing. The Live mode, which uses full-motion video in gameplay, is better in execution than in theory, and the TV mode seems like a cool idea that is hopefully not too ambitious for its own good. Either way, it seems like Guitar Hero Live could be an awesome tool for music discovery, which has me excited to check it out.

Are you buying into FreeStyle Games' revitalization of one of the biggest video game franchises of the last 10 years, or do you think the ship has sailed on the franchise? If you are picking it up tomorrow, what are you most excited to check out?

Colts' Bizarre Punting Gaffe Recreated In Tecmo Bowl

Last night in a rematch of the 2015 AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano unveiled one of the strangest special teams plays in NFL history. The play backfired spectacularly, and the Colts ultimately lost 34-27. Now that gaffe has been immortalized with a hilarious Tecmo Bowl recreation.

A nod of the cap to The Cauldron for putting together this beauty of a video. Enjoy:

September 2015 NPD: PlayStation 4 And NBA 2K16 Lead The Month

The NPD Group has released its report for United States retail video game hardware and software sales in September. PlayStation 4 led console sales for another month, with NBA 2K16 topping the software charts after a strong early performance with 4 million shipped in its first week.

In addition to leading the month in both hardware and software, Sony indicated PlayStation Store performed well during the period.  “As we kick off the holiday season, we would like to take a moment to thank fans for making PlayStation 4 the best-selling console and #1 in software sales in September," a Sony statement provided via email says. "PlayStation 4 was the number one console for NBA 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and FIFA 16. Including the highly successful limited edition console bundle, PS4 also led retail sales for Destiny: The Taken King."

Report: Kojima No Longer Employed By Konami As Of October 9

about X hours ago from

A new report today indicates that the long-rumored departure of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima from Konami has happened. According to new information, Kojima’s last day was allegedly October 9.

The New Yorker reports that a ceremony was held on that day with approximately 100 guests. The publication also reports that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain saw revenue of $179 million at launch on September 1, though that statistic does not appear to be official or directly from Konami.

We’ve reached out to Konami to find out if the publisher is confirming Kojima’s departure. We’ve also requested clarification and confirmation of the launch day revenue and the report that Kojima has a non-compete clause through December. We’ll update should we receive a response.
