Shadow Of Mordor Developer Monolith Rallies Around Ill Coworker

Yesterday, Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith Productions spent the day pulling together for one of its own. In May, Executive producer Mike Forgey was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive form of cancer that causes fast-growing brain tumors.

Since his diagnosis earlier this year, Forgey has been admitted into a trial and underwent a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy. He continues to fight the disease, but glioblastoma is difficult to treat. Median survival rate from the point of diagnosis is 14.6 months. Two-year survival is 30 percent, with only 10 percent of patients living five years or longer.

On December 22, Monolith gathered its community and friends to stream gameplay and tweet with the hashtag “#ForForgey.” While the official campaign was yesterday, it’s not too late to help out.

Uncharted 4 Delayed More Than A Month Until April 26

Naughty Dog and Sony have announced another delay for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The game will now be shipping in late April.

This latest delay pushes the game back more than five weeks. “As we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line,” write Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley.

The delay leaves Uncharted 4 without much competition right now. Major titles releasing in April at this point include Dark Souls III, Ratchet & Clank, and Quantum Break.

Nyko Brings Data Bank Hard Drive Add-On To Xbox One

At the beginning of this year, Nyko announced a conversion kit for the PlayStation 4 that allows use of larger 3.5-inch hard drive replacements. The company is now bringing something similar to Xbox One.

Unlike the PlayStation 4, which supports internal hard drive upgrading, the Xbox One uses external hard drives for additional space. The $40 peripheral is a housing for 3.5-inch drives, which are typically less expensive than standalone, portable drives.

This version of the Data Bank plugs into a rear USB port and requires a separate power supply. Nyko says the device is available now, but does not seem to be live on the company’s online store yet.
