Season Six Of Game Of Thrones Will Air Before Sixth Book Is Finished

George R.R. Martin took to his LiveJournal account today to post an update on progress of The Winds of Winter, the sixth book in the Game of Thrones series. Namely, it's not done.

Here's what he said:

THE WINDS OF WINTER is not finished. Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words. You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me. For months now I have wanted nothing so much as to be able to say, "I have completed and delivered THE WINDS OF WINTER" on or before the last day of 2015.

But the book's not done.

Nor is it likely to be finished tomorrow, or next week. Yes, there's a lot written. Hundreds of pages. Dozens of chapters. (Those 'no pages done' reports were insane, the usual garbage internet journalism that I have learned to despise). But there's also a lot still left to write. I am months away still... and that's if the writing goes well. (Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't.) Chapters still to write, of course... but also rewriting. I always do a lot of rewriting, sometimes just polishing, sometimes pretty major restructures.

Rumor: Activision Moves To Acquire Nearly Complete Stake In MLG

Rumor: Activision Moves To Acquire Nearly Complete Stake In MLG

It appears that 2016 isn’t going to join us softly. Earlier today, reports surfaced that Activision is in talks to acquire nearly all of Major League Gaming’s assets. While a signed deal is far from confirmed at this point, it appears that the pieces are falling into place following major moves in the category from Activision in 2015.

The news first emerged via eSports Observer, which claims to have multiple sources and the documents to back up its report. A portion of those documents are available in the outlet’s story, reflecting an asset purchase agreement.

Given there is no statement from MLG or Activision, this may be a draft. Until there are signatures and confirmation, it’s not clear how far along the talks are.

Reader Discussion: What Are You Playing Over The Holidays?

about X hours ago from

It's a new year, folks! And that means that a lot of you are finally getting around to some of the games that came out last year or even the years before that. So tell us what you're working through in your backlog right now.

Are you finally nearing the end of the Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt after playing it on and off again since May? Sating your curiosity and exploring Undertale's quirky subterranean kingdom? Still trying to beat that one #@#!$! boss in Bloodborne?  Maybe you've decided to see what all the fuss is about with Earthbound or a game that got a nice discount in the Steam sale.

I foolishly chose to try to play through both Virtue's Last Reward and replay Chrono Trigger over the holidays. It's going about as well as you'd expect, especially since I decided to revisit Knights of the Old Republic as well.

Someone Is Selling A Star Wars Shooting Gallery Game For $9,999

You think your unopened copy of Shadows Of The Empire might be worth a good bit of cash, eh? Well, it's got nothing on X-Wing Aces Target Game apparently.

X-Wing Aces Target Game is a shooting gallery game from that has the player point a machinegun at TIE fighters made with flashlights on a paper background of the Death Star. Not exactly faithful to the film, but one seller is trying to sell it for nearly ten thousand dollars

Here's a vintage commercial of the game in all its cheesy glory.

Gamer Beats Super Mario Galaxy Using DDR Dance Pad

Gamer Beats Super Mario Galaxy Using DDR Dance Pad

Youtuber PeekingBoo has started a series dedicated to filming himself play games with the Dance Dance Revolution dance pad. There are videos of him playing  Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Undertale, and now, perhaps most impressively, beating Super Mario Galaxy with the device.

Boo detailed the preparations he had to make for the run in an email:

"Super Mario Galaxy at the time was notorious for changing the way 3D Mario games were previously played by introducing motion controls, intuitive camera movements and aspect of gravity changes on oddly shaped objects. All of these aspects work well together when coupled with the free movement of a thumb on the analog stick and sitting still in the comfort of a chair, however on a dance pad every one of these gameplay innovations directly work against the player. Moving too much can result in involuntary Wii Remote Shakes, my general body movement makes it hard to point at the screen and I had to resort to strapping the thing to my arm because it proved to be a better solution than holding it in my hand."

Here Are All Of The Currently Available Guitar Hero Live Tracks

Unlike its competition in the music game world, Guitar Hero Live has completely abandoned the traditional notion of DLC. Instead of selling gamers new music, Activision and Freestyle Games will be adding it to the streaming Guitar Hero Live service.

That means you’re likely going to want to know what’s available to play on the disc and via Guitar Hero TV. That’s where we come in.

We’ll be updating this list of tracks as more music is added. For now, you have more than 240 tracks to get you started and our review if you want to know what we think of the game.
