about X hours ago from

One of the trends of the last year was a shift away from including solo campaigns in multiplayer-focused games. Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege suffered from its absence after a history of enjoyable single-player experiences.

For Honor, Ubisoft Montreal's four-versus-four multiplayer game won't be repeating that mistake. In an update last week, producer Stephane Cardin addressed fan questions about the game.

DC Universe Online Lands On Xbox One This Spring

When Sony Online Entertainment was spun off from the mothership last year, fans had a big question: "Does this mean you aren't limited on console to PlayStation anymore?" The newly rebranded Daybreak Game Studios under then-CEO John Smedley didn't equivocate. Xbox One games were coming.

Today we know which title will be first. DC Universe Online creative director SJ Mueller told us that an Xbox One version of the MMO will land this spring.

Daybreak hasn't commented or committed to other titles coming to Xbox One. However, that this is happening is a good sign for Xbox One fans interested in Planetside 2 and H1Z1.

EA Sports Gives False Hope For NCAA Football Revival

It's been a year and a half since the official NCAA Football Facebook page posted an update. Today, EA posted something that had fans excited for a split second. But, no, NCAA Football isn't coming back, at least not yet.

The post features a short video of a heartbeat. Fans hoped that meant the series was coming back to life.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. EA has since added a note that this refers to the NCAA championship game between Alabama and Clemson tonight. "Our heart still beats for the big game... #NationalChampionship," the post now says.

about X hours ago from

The Force Awakens just doesn't know when to stop breaking records. Variety has reported that not only has the film crossed the $800 million US box office threshold but it also had a huge opening in China, netting $53 million in its opening weekend. This means that the film has the highest opening weekend in that country and has moved up to the third spot on the all-time worldwide box office list with $1.73 billion earned in total internationally so far.

The Force Awakens has more than a billion dollars to go before it can eclipse Avatar's worldwide record and take the #1 spot.

Reader Discussion: What Video Game Spin-offs Do You Want To See?

about X hours ago from

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India arrives next week and is the latest game that's part of a trend where developers and publishers are taking chances with interesting and experimental spin-offs from their franchises. Chronicles: China embraced Mark Of The Ninja's gameplay to become an enjoyable stealthy sidescroller. Both Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go emulate board game mechanics and have little to do with the main entries for each respective series. And, of course, this year also gave us Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale's hilarious (and moving) take on Gearbox Software's first-person shooter.

To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of spin-offs because the vast majority of the time the most you can hope for is an enjoyable but very flawed game.  However, Square Enix and Telltale's efforts have made me excited for future spin-offs of my favorite games. I'd love to see a non-fighting game set in Mortal Kombat's goofy and gory universe (look, let's just take a Godfather III policy here and agree that Mythologies: Sub Zero didn't happen, okay?). I'd also be keen to spend some more time in the Arkham version of Gotham but with an entire game where you play as someone, or several people, who aren't Batman.
