Nintendo Has Shipped 31 Million Amiibos

In a recent presentation that Nintendo gave to its investors, the company revealed it had shipped approximately 31 million Amiibos worldwide. The first wave of Amiibos was released in November 2014, with a total of 80 Amiibo types that have been released in Japan so far.

According to Nintendo's report, the shipments of Amiibos reached an all-time high for a quarter, with over 9.9 million shipped in the third quarter of the fiscal year. Since the first wave 57 percent of the Amiibos shipped were shipped to the Americas while 22 percent were shipped to Europe and 16 percent to Japan. Other interesting tidbits from the report include the most popular figurines in Japan being Splatoon characters while in the U.S., Link, Browser, and Toon Link reigned.

Nintendo ended the Amiibo section of the report by saying the company intended  to "continue to introduce new members of the Amiibo lineup." However, it's worth noting that as well as Amiibos have been doing, the success of these wildly popular figures hasn't stopped Nintendo from suffering a substantial drop in profits overall. 60 Million Copies Of GTA V Shipped, Mafia III Reconfirmed For 2016

Take-Two has reported its earnings for the third quarter if its current fiscal year. The company’s net revenue was down, and the publisher posted a net loss for the quarter, but it exceeded expectations and is ahead of last fiscal year overall for revenue, but has larger losses.

Revenue dropped by 22 percent in the quarter to $414.2 million. Take-Two posted a net loss of 42.4 million, compared to net income of 40.1 million in the previous year.

The company continues to lean on Grand Theft Auto V, of which it has now shipped 60 million copies to retail (up 15 million in the past year), Grand Theft Auto Online in-game transactions, and annual releases (NBA and WWE) to push performance. For the remainder the fiscal year, Take-Two’s offerings only include one WWE 2K16 DLC pack, XCOM 2, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on Android, and the oft-delayed Civilization Revolution 2 Plus on Vita.
