Fallout 4 Mod Gives Dogmeat A Backpack

about X hours ago from

One of the oddest things about Fallout 4 to me is that Dogmeat can carry your junk for you...without actually wearing a backpack or dragging about a bag. As with a number of Fallout 4's peculiarities, there's now a mod to address it. Because of course there is.

Higeyosi's Dogmeat's Backpack does exactly what its name implies, giving you the ability to put one of three craftable backpacks on your trusty canine companion. You can watch the mod in action here with Kottabos Games' video:

PlayStation TV To Be Discontinued In Japan

about X hours ago from

Sony has somewhat quietly revealed that The PlayStation TV (PSTV), a more limited console version of the PlayStation Vita, is being discontinued in Japan. Sony's official Japanese listing for the console and its various bundles says that their shipments have reached completion.

The device was originally released in Japan in November 2013 and then came to the United States in October of 2014 but didn't make much of an impact, with a number of retailers dropping the console's listed price of $99.99 to as low as $39.99 shortly after release. The PSTV was compatible with a number of games in the PlayStation Vita library (but not all of them) and did not come with a Netflix streaming app though the Vita had it.

Back in June of 2015, Sony president of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida talked a bit about why the device wasn't performing well:

Play As George Lucas In This Text Adventure

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be George Lucas when he was creating Star Wars? The folks over at ClickHole have apparently and have even created a text adventure that lets you play out that fantasy with a Clickventure called "You're George Lucas In 1975. Can You Create Star Wars?"

Here's a screen of the game early on:

Also, there are a lot of yams in this adventure for some reason. Like, a lot.

Dark Souls Mobile Spin-Off Slashy Souls Revealed

An endless runner spin-off of Dark Souls called Slashy Souls has been revealed and will be hitting iOS and Android tomorrow, February 28, according to Polygon. Polygon is also reporting that Bandai Namco has been working with GameStop (Disclosure: GameStop is Game Informer's parent company) on the mobile title.

From the brief footage shown, Slashy Souls resembles endless runners like Temple Run and Robot Unicorn Attack while retaining the series' gloomy aesthetic. There's no indication whether or not Slashy Souls will be free-to-play.

You can watch the game in action over at Polygon.

Fan Replaces Music In Latest Dark Souls III Trailer With DMX

about X hours ago from

The last trailer for Dark Souls III was pretty good, I'd say. Really spooky cover of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," very atmospheric and action-packed with just the right amount of somber.

Was it the best trailer for the series ever? Not by a long shot. But maybe, with a small adjustment, a fan has made it so, replacing the Lauper cover with DMX's "X Gon' Give It To Ya."

You can watch the whole thing here but be warned, as far as lyrics go, it's pretty NSFW:

Reader Discussion: What's Your Favorite Pokemon?

Reader Discussion: What's Your Favorite Pokemon?

Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow are now out on the eShop today for 3DS owners. We also just published our detailed ranking of the original 151 Pokemon, but now we want to hear from you.

Which Pokemon, out of all the games, is your absolute favorite? For me, the choice is easy: Charmeleon. Yeah, I know, people love Charmander for being cutesy and Charizard for being...well, Charizard, but I always dug Charmeleon as a kid. He seemed like the most punkish of the original 151 Pokemon, the kind of Pokemon you just didn't want to mess with under any circumstances.

What about you all? What's your favorite Pokemon?

EA Abandons Trademark Filing For 'Ghost'

about X hours ago from

Earlier this month, Ubisoft objected to EA's attempt to trademark the word "ghost," using its catalog of Tom Clancy: Ghost Recon games to suggest that EA's trademark would cause some confusion. According to recent documents, it looks like EA has withdrawn its trademarking attempt.

It still isn't clear what EA was hoping to use the word for, though the original filing covered "Entertainment services" and "Computer game software," so the idea that it was for a new series or an attempt to rebrand one of EA's current or older ones isn't far-fetched. Whatever the trademark was intended for, it looks like EA is going to have to go back to the drawing board.

Of course, this isn't the first time that gaming companies have battled over trademarked words. In 2011, Bethseda, the developer and publisher of The Elder Scrolls series, took Mojang to court over Scrolls and in 2014 King, the developer of the popular Candy Crush Saga, started enforcing its trademark of the word 'candy' (to disastrous results).

Next Halo 5 Update Will Pay Tribute To One Fan's Tragic Loss

about X hours ago from

Last month, Adam Bartels (or thecrzedspartan as he's known in the Halo community) lost his daughters in a tragic electrical fire. The Halo community came together to support him and his wife, Rebecca with a GoFundMe page that raised nearly $30,000 in a month.

343 Industries is now paying tribute to Adam and his daughters in its own way, with an in-game update containing an emblem and an added feature in an upcoming map. Here's the announcement about the update in full:

Last month we learned about a community member's tragic loss. Adam (aka thecrzedspartan) and his wife Rebecca lost their daughters Trinity and Lena when their lives were claimed by an electrical fire in their family home. As a father, I can only imagine the heartache and pain caused by this loss. In the days following the tragedy, it was inspiring to see the Halo community come together to support Adam and Rebecca in a variety of ways.

Rumor: Battlefield 5 Take Places During World War 1 According To Retailer

What's old is new again. Maybe. Retailer World Of Games recently had a listing for Battlefield 5 that may have inadvertently revealed some details about the game, including that it takes place during World War 1.

Twitter users Thrillo and Zinogray uncovered the listing, with Thrillo posting an image of it on Twitter:

Weekend Warrior – Nostalgic For Cavemen

about X hours ago from

February is drawing to a close, but we've still got some of January's great games on our plates. Add to that some of this month's newer titles and a few others from over a decade ago, and you've got an idea of what we'll be playing this weekend. Be sure to sound off with your own gaming plans in the comments after you read ours.

Connor Trinske (@gwubba) – I've been on a kick with old Rare games recently, and I'll probably end it by finishing Digger T. Rock, Donkey Kong Country 2, and Banjo-Kazooie all in the same day this weekend. I might play some Street Fighter V if anyone else I know wants to play it, but I haven't gotten any practice in because it's hard to stick with a game that doesn't have much to begin with.

Mike Futter (@futterish) – I have been on an intense Diablo III kick, working my way through season five objectives. I’ll also try to get in some games of Heroes of the Storm and return to Starcraft.
