Rumored Titles For Star Wars: Episode VIII

about X hours ago from

Filming is officially underway for Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII. Fans are flocking to the internet with rumors and photos from the film's sets. Most of these rumors won't be verifiable until the film hits theaters on December 17, 2017, and they should all be taken with a huge grain of salt at this point, but it is fun to discuss them and see what people are learning and thinking. Moreover, pertaining specifically to the name of the film, it'll be fun to see who was the first (or closest) to getting it right.

Within the last 24 hours we've seen two different "official" titles for Episode VIII. The first supposedly comes from leaked promotional materials appearing on Reddit. The title on the reported promotional poster is Star Wars: Tale of the Jedi Temple. The Reddit post says it is being prepped for a May 4 (Star Wars Day) reveal.

The second "official" name to make the rounds is tied to Episode VIII's filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Star Wars news site MOS Croatia claims the movie is called Star Wars: The Order of the Dark Side, but no context for where the name came from was given.

A New, Secret Diablo III Cow Level Honors A Blizzard Dev In Memoriam

For the month of March, intrepid Diablo III players can hunt down a secret area. This is no ordinary portal, though. It’s a new, secret cow level.

The area in question was installed to remember Kevin Kanai Griffith, a Blizzard artist who passed away due to a rare form of cancer two years ago. One of the game’s most precious artifacts, the Kanai Cube, is also named for Griffith.

YouTube user MadTom capture the process of entering Kanai’s Stomping Grounds, where you’ll be tasked with slaughtering the Infernal Bovines. The location depicted below is Act III’s Infernal Throne in the Ruins of Sescheron:

Twilight Princess Team Talks Dungeon Design In Third Retrospective

Exploring dungeons is an integral part of the Legend of Zelda formula, and Twilight Princess is no exception. In the latest episode of the Twilight Princess retrospective series, the development team discusses how these levels were built to convey a massive sense of scale.

While series director Eiji Aonuma designed all of the dungeons for Ocarina of Time, the dungeons in Twilight Princess were more of a collaborative effort. Aonuma talks about how certain items helped shape the layout for each of the individual dungeons, such as the spinner in the Arbiter’s Grounds and the iron boots in the Goron Mines.

Your Next Star Wars Battlefront Hero Is… Nien Nunb?

You might have been hoping for Chewbacca. Perhaps you’re holding out hope for Lando Calrissian. How about Grand Moff Tarkin, General Weiss, or even Wicket the Ewok? Nope. You get Nien Nunb.

Who is Nien Nunb you ask? He’s a Sullustan that flew in the Millennium Falcon alongside Lando in Return of the Jedi. Executive editor Andrew Reiner went more in-depth as Nunb and Greedo (of dead-in-a-cantina fame) were teased last week.

The two are part of the Outer Rim expansion (the first of four coming in the season pass). That pack also includes a new location on Sullust and Jabba’s throne room and sail barge garage on Tatooine.

Don’t Expect The Division Reviews Until After Launch

Ubisoft has announced that servers for The Division, the open-world multiplayer game coming next week, won’t be live until midnight Australian time on March 8. What that means for you (and us) is that reviews won’t begin until the game is available to the public.

The publisher says that it isn’t letting press in early because it can’t populate the servers as they will be when the public has access. “Since it’s impossible for us to populate the servers in a way that would adequately replicate playing The Division on launch day, reviewers will start playing the game along with everyone else when it’s released on March 8 – after the servers go live officially at 00:01AM Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT),” the publisher writes.

We’ll have our own impressions and a full review once we can put the game through its paces. For our thoughts on the beta, check out our previous coverage.

EA Appears To Have Moved Mass Effect From Holiday 2016 To Early 2017

BioWare is apparently going to need a bit more time to take us back to the stars. EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen has commented that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be releasing during the company’s fourth quarter.

He was speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference 2016 about the upcoming lineup for the fiscal year that begins on April 1, 2016. EA’s fourth quarter takes place from January 1 through March 31.

“We’ve got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter,” Jorgensen said. His comment also indicates that we should expect the next Titanfall game this holiday.”
