Speculation About The Dark Side Of The Force In Star Wars: Rogue One

The excellent teaser trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One paints a fairly complete picture. It gives us a good look at the state of the Rebel Alliance and the strength of the Empire. We are led to believe this is a story that focuses on Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones), a reckless outsider who has been on her own since the age of 15. She joins the Rebels, and is tasked to learn about the Empire's new weapon: the Death Star. We are also introduced to a leading figure for the axis, an Imperial fleet admiral played by Ben Mendelsohn. We don't know for certain he's a fleet admiral, but the insignia on his uniform lines up with Star Wars' expanded universe lore.

If this trailer is anything like our first look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we're only getting a small taste of Rogue One's story. One shot in particular speaks to a much greater threat for the Rebels. The image above shows a cloaked figure kneeling before what appears to be a bacta tank or some kind of chamber. On both sides we see Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guards, implying that he's in this room. Palpatine created the red guard when he was elected Supreme Chancellor. They serve him, and only him, at least that's what the lore has told us up to this point.

Official Soundtrack For No Man's Sky Gets A Release Date

The official soundtrack of No Man's Sky is coming to all territories just before the launch of the game. No Man's Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe has been composed by UK instrumental group 65daysofstatic, who revealed the news today.

The group spent over a year composing the game's ambient music, which includes ten original tracks and another collection of six "soundscapes." These are being fed into the game using variable loops, sound textures, and melodies to create a "self-generating soundtrack" that complements the game's staggering number of locations.

The album is being released by Laced Records on June 17, and will be available for purchase and streaming at all major digital music retailers. The first full track, "Supermoon," has been released on SoundCloud to mark the announcement. For more on No Man's Sky's soundtrack, check out our video interview with 65daysofstatic, or click the banner below to see all of our No Man's Sky features.

Find Out What BB-8 Has In Common With NASA’s Mars Rover

Disney posted a video today of BB-8 visiting the NASA Jet Propulsion laboratory to meet Maggie, a Mars rover.

Maggie is a double of Curiosity, the rover currently on Mars. Maggie is used to test operations and simulate missions before they’re carried out by Curiosity on the planet’s surface. Curiosity photographs the terrain on Mars, surveying the landscape to find out if it was ever capable of sustaining life. While BB-8 brings a few comedic shenanigans to the play date, the video mainly focuses on the technology behind Maggie and the functions the rovers are designed to carry out. Hey, you have to make education fun somehow, right?

Konami Fultons Last Bit Of Dignity From Metal Gear In Ford Car Ads

Konami promised more Metal Gear is coming. But we suspect no one, especially the series’ most ardent fans, wanted this.

The publisher has teamed with Ford for ads using Metal Gear Solid scenes. There’s one featuring a Codec call with Colonel Campbell. Another features the fantastic, mind-bending Psycho Mantis scene.

Elektra Joins The Cast Of Marvel Heroes 2016

After a rough launch, and a restructuring of developer Gazillion, Marvel Heroes has turned its troubles into success by making notable improvements with each annual iteration. The massively multiplayer action-RPG continues to hit its stride with the release of Daredevil's lethal assassin, Elektra.

Elektra joins the cast of Marvel Heroes donning her traditional red costume, and the DLC will include an alternate outfit inspired by her appearance in Marvel's second season of Daredevil. The trailer below shows how the heroes of Netflix's original series can be assembled to knock around the skulls of street-lurking baddies.

Alan Wake DLC Free On Xbox Live Marketplace

about X hours ago from

Alan Wake is currently available to play as a backward compatible game. If you never played it, I suggest you change that. If you’ve played it but never tackled the DLC, now is a very good time to give it a look.

The two DLC chapters, The Signal and The Writer, are both free to download. It’s not clear if this is a permanent price reduction or a limited offer, so best not to wait too long.

The DLC adds new gameplay mechanics and wraps up Alan’s story, at least for the time being. I’m not always sold on DLC’s narrative value, but I think in this case both additional chapters enhance the story.

Hands-On With Thrustmaster’s $200 TMX Force Feedback Wheel For Xbox One And PC

Racing fans have been trying to recreate the feel of track driving in the living room for years. While the gamepad is a good entry point, motorheads have no doubt at least eyed a racing wheel for a more authentic experience.

Thrustmaster’s latest, the TMX Force Feedback Racing Wheel, balances features and price. At $199, the Xbox One- and PC-compatible peripheral is an 11-inch wheel and two-pedal set that features 900-degree rotation.

I drove (poorly) around the Laguna Seca racetrack in Forza Motorsport 6 to test it out. The benefit of my miserable racing skill is that I had the opportunity to feel how the force feedback reacts to grass, dirt, track grooves, and occasionally, pavement.
