'Obviously There Is Going To Be Another Borderlands' Says Gearbox's Randy Pitchford

At PAX East 2016, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed on stage during an Inside Gearbox panel, that work would begin shortly on a new Borderlands.

“It’s no secret. Obviously there is going to be another Borderlands,” said Pitchford to an enthusiastic audience. Pitchford then threw the conversation to Battleborn's art director, Scott Kester, who revealed he would be the art director for the next Borderlands. On stage they called it Borderlands 3, but Pitchford followed up saying, “We don’t even know if we’re going to call it that.” The conversation then moved on to Gearbox writer Mikey Neumann, who revealed he would be writing the game. Neumann joked that the game may follow Scooter's son, a character named Scooper. You can find the conversation at the one hour and 18 minute mark of this Twitch stream archive.

We asked why Gearbox decided to focus on Battleborn over a new Borderlands when we featured the hero shooter on our cover. You can find that interview here. Early last year, Gearbox also publicly said it was looking to expand its team to start work on a new Borderlands, but there were few additional details at that time.

A Pair Of Battleborn Characters Will Be Playable In Rock Band 4 Soon

Battleborn's Thorn, an elf-like archer, and Miko, a... mushroom, will both be playable musicians in Rock Band 4 soon.

Additional details are scarce right now, but this isn't the first time Gearbox has partnered with Harmonix to craft a bizarre, unexpected cameo appearance. Last year, Borderlands' Nisha the Lawbringer and Claptrap were both unlockable dancers in Dance Central: Spotlight. Unlocking Nisha and Claptrap in the Dance Central was actually free and only required the input of a code. Hopefully that is also the case here.

Tekken X Street Fighter Is 'On Hold For The Moment' Says Tekken's Katsuhiro Harada

Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada recently revealed in an interview that Tekken X Street Fighter (the follow-up to Street Fighter X Tekken) is no longer in active development.

Harada spoke with GameSpot about the upcoming Tekken 7 and when the topic of Tekken X Street Fighter came up, he had some pessimistic news, though he didn't say the game was outright cancelled. “Street Fighter V that just released – a lot of people are playing that fervently – and there's a large crowd out there waiting or Tekken 7. We don't want to split these communities,” Harada told GameSpot. “A good window in which to release Tekken X Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment.” You can read the full interview GameSpot here.

Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter were announced simultaneously in 2010 with plans for the former to closely resemble Street Fighter mechanics, and the latter meant to feature Tekken mechanics. Both were to feature characters from both fighting game franchises. For our review of 2012's Street Fighter X Tekken (which features awful original box art Mega Man seen above), head here.

A recent post on Harmonix Forums confirmed that many of the songs in The Beatles: Rock Band's online music store will be delisted starting May 5th. However, if you already purchased any of these songs, you can keep playing them even after they are pulled from the store. Below is the full list of songs being removed.
