Overwatch's Gunsliger McCree Stars In His Own Comic From Blizzard

Blizzard Entertainment digitally published the Overwatch comic Train Hopper, which you can read here online for free.

The comic centers on gunslinger Jesse McCree from Overwatch. Blizzard describes the plot as McCree hitching "a ride on a hypertrain to Houston in the hopes of skipping town and laying low for a while. But soon after the engine starts, he realizes his trip is going to be anything but 'low profile.'"

The comic is written by Blizzard's Robert Brooks and illustrated by artist Bengal (who worked on comics such as Spider-Gwen, All-New Wolverine, and Batgirl). It's short and just 10 pages in length, but Blizzard teased that more Overwatch comics will arrive soon.

Super Mario RPG's Battle System Was Influenced By An Audience's Applause

Did You Know Gaming's newest segment centers on Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, which released for the SNES in 1996.

You might not know that Super Mario RPG's battle system was largely influenced by the fans. Shigeru Miyamoto and director Chihiro Fujioka couldn't decide on whether the battle system would have "a classic RPG approach with swords and magic" or if Mario should wield a hammer and be able to use his iconic jump attack. To settle the matter, they compared how much applause fans gave either concept during a presentation of the game.

LucidSound's Approach To Gaming Headsets Blends Simplicity With Clear Uncompressed Sound

LucidSound's Approach To Gaming Headsets Blends Simplicity With Clear Uncompressed Sound

The gaming audio marketplace is crowded, but as long as there are companies innovating, it isn't saturated. LucidSound, a company made up of Tritton and Turtle Beach alumni, has opted to focus first on clear sound over bells and whistles.

The company's inaugural product, the LS-30, is billed as a universal wireless gaming headset. It uses a USB dongle plugged into a console or PC to transmit uncompressed audio wirelessly. Most other wireless headsets use a transmitter fed by a digital optical signal, which is necessarily of reduced quality due to compression.

The LS-30 headset features a 50 mm driver in each year, pumping out stereo sound. Despite the larger speaker in each cup, which usually leads to heavier bass at the cost of muddiness at higher frequencies, the audio is clear across the full range.
