Experience Oculus Rift At Select Best Buy Locations Starting May 7

Game Informer editor in chief Andy McNamara recently reviewed the Oculus Rift, and he wrapped up his thoughts with a simple call to action: Get out there and try the Rift. That's been easier said than done, thanks to preorder delays stemming from component shortages. If you haven't yet recieved a unit or want to see what all the fuss is about, retailer Best Buy is making it easier to check out the tech in-store, starting May 7.

Oculus and Best Buy said that the units will be available to demo at 48 locations nationwide. You can find the location closest to you by typing your ZIP code on the newly launched Oculus Live site here. From there, you can make an appointment to try out the Rift via games and VR demos including The Climb. Stores will also be selling what they're calling extremely limited supplies of the Rift units, while they fill preorders.

Our TakeThe Rift is an expensive piece of tech, even if you already have a PC capable of supporting it. Getting an in-store demo is definitely a smart move, in case you find yourself with a previously undiagnosed case of motion sickness.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Has Zombies Mode, Early Map Access On PS4

Infinity Ward has developed Call of Duty since the beginning of the series, but it's never dabbled with the undead. Zombies mode was the brainchild of Treyarch, which introduced the spinoff mode in its Call of Duty: World at War. Activision and Infinity Ward just announced the latest entry in the series, which not only takes the series into space, but also marks the first time that players will be able to fight off zombies in an Infinity Ward-developed Call of Duty title.

Infinity Ward's communications director, Eric Monacelli, revealed the mode in a post on the PlayStation Blog, saying "...Infinite Warfare will introduce an original cooperative Zombies mode that takes players on a wild ride through a new storyline with unique gameplay features and mechanics." More details will be coming soon.

Additionally, PlayStation 4 owners will get access to the game's DLC map packs 30 days before they're released on competing platforms.

From Software's Next Project Will Support PlayStation VR

about X hours ago from

From Software has experienced a renaissance since the Dark Souls series captured widespread attention, but the studio's been around for decades. A recent video highlights its past work – including the King's Field and Armored Core series – and offers a tiny fragment of tantalizing info about its next project.

The video below, found by Reddit user 113mac113, concludes with a slide calling out what's called simply "Next Title." That's all there is, other than a list of supported platforms, and that's where it gets interesting. In addition to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it calls out the upcoming PlayStation VR peripheral. (Note: The image above is from Dark Souls III, not this upcoming title.)

Mighty No. 9 Delayed One More Time, Now Coming June 21

Mighty No. 9 isn’t going to make its “Spring 2016” release, the promise made after the game’s third delay in January. It’s now coming in late June.

Comcept says this one is the real deal, and the game has now “gone gold.” Once again, creator Keiji Inafune apologizes for keeping fans waiting for so long.

In fact, it’s been three years since the Kickstarter. When it finally arrives, assuming no more delays, it will be 14 months late.

Nintendo Talks About Its Hopes For The NX Launch

Nintendo Talks About Its Hopes For The NX Launch

Nintendo recently announced the Nintendo NX – whatever exactly it is – will come out in March 2017, and while the system won't make this holiday season's shopping bonanza, the company believes the March launch is the right move.

In an English translation of a financial results briefing Q&A, Nintendo president and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima expressed Nintendo's hope that the NX would not launch at a financial loss and that it will be sufficiently supported by software at that time.

"We are not thinking of launching the hardware at a loss," he said. "When Wii U was launched, the yen was very strong. I am assuming that situation will not repeat itself. Selling at a loss at launch would not support the business, so we are keeping that mind in developing NX."

A New Dawn Of War Has Been Announced, Details Tomorrow

A New Dawn Of War Has Been Announced, Details Tomorrow

A new Dawn of War is coming, though details begin and end right there for now. A full reveal is planned for tomorrow, at which time we’ll find out more about what Sega (and presumably Relic) have in store.

Dawn of War, a Warhammer 40K real-time strategy series, has had two distinctly different incarnations. The first game was a traditional base-building RTS, that eventually gave birth to three substantial expansions.

The sequel dropped the base-building in favor of a smaller, squad based approach (akin to the Company of Heroes series). It spawned two sizable expansions and the Last Stand standalone pack that serves as a co-op horde mode. New DLC for the Retribution expansion was just released in March, which now seems to have been designed to whet appetites for this announcement. The Dawn of War franchise was acquired from THQ (along with Relic) in bankruptcy proceedings.

All Uncharted 4 Multiplayer DLC Will Be Unlockable By Playing

about X hours ago from

With just a week to go before Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launches on PlayStation 4, Naughty Dog has unveiled details about its approach to DLC. You’ll be able to earn everything just by playing.

You’ll earn the in-game relics currency just by playing. Those can be spent on chests that have weapons, boosters, and cosmetic items. You won’t get the same unique item twice, so cosmetic items and weapons you already own won’t take up valuable space in subsequent chests. You can purchase Uncharted points with real money that can be used to get more chests, should you choose.

New maps and modes will be rolled out along the way. Those will be available to the entire community at the same time in order to keep players together.
