Bethesda Reveals November Release Date For Dishonored 2

Today Arkane Studios revealed its highly anticipated stealth action game Dishonored 2 is nearly ready for prime time. Bethesda has locked in a worldwide release date of November 11.

Dishonored 2 sets players on another revenge quest to reclaim the throne of Dunwall. Set 15 years after the last game, players can either gain vengeance as grizzled series vet Corvo Attano, or empress Emily Kaldwin, a new playable character with unique supernatural powers who was dethroned in the recent coup.

To learn more about the game before the gameplay debut at the 2016 E3 Bethesda Showcase on June 12, read our 14-page blowout cover story that we just announced. We have a full month of online coverage planned as well, so check our cover hub often in the coming weeks.

June Cover Revealed – Dishonored 2

Last E3, Dishonored 2 blinked onto the Bethesda Showcase stage with a promising teaser trailer showing the next deadly threat in the Corvo Attano bloodline – empress Emily Kaldwin – only to disappear from the public eye as fast as an assassin after a stealth kill. Last month, we traveled to Arkane Studios headquarters in Lyon, France to see the elusive game in action for the first time. We watched both Emily and Corvo move through a previously unseen district of the city of Karnaca, showcasing their new and improved supernatural powers.

After the demos, we spoke with creative director Harvey Smith, lead designer Dinga Bakaba, and art director Sebastien Mitton about a vast array of topics, including gameplay enhancements, difficulty customization, the impressive art direction, and the implementation of a new technology platform called the Void Engine. We funneled all this knowledge into a 14-page blowout cover story about one of the most anticipated games in the Game Informer office scheduled to come out later this year. We also worked with Arkane to create two themed covers, one for each of the playable protagonists.

Team Of Animator Reworks Super Smash Bros. Melee's Opening Animation

Last year, a team of animators divvied up the opening sequence from the Pokémon cartoon with slightly disturbing results. The Reanimation Station is back at it, but this time they've turned their attention to Super Smash Bros. Melee's opener.

Take a look at the clip to see what more than two dozen animators came up with. Some stuck close to the source material, while others took...liberties. Regardless, it's a fun video tribute to a great game.
