Atlas Reactor, Trion’s Fast, Turn-Based Multiplayer Game Isn’t Free-To-Play Anymore

Remember when a bunch of games you wanted to play and were willing to pay up front for went free-to-play? Well now the opposite is happening, as the pendulum swings back a bit toward the premium pricing model.

We expected Overwatch was going to be free-to-play. Nope. It’s a premium game. Boss Key’s Lawbreakers began its life as a no-money-down venture. Now you’re going to open your wallet to play.

Trion World’s Atlas Reactor is the latest to make the shift back from free-to-play to up-front pricing. The game is best described as a fast-paced, turn-based game with simultaneous move planning. There are multiple phases of each turn, with different priorities for available moves. All of this adds up to having to outthink what your opponent will do instead of what they’ve already done.

First Battleborn Patch Coming Soon, Balance Updates On Weekly Schedule

about X hours ago from

It’s only been two days since Battleborn launched, but Gearbox is already making tweaks and identifying places for improvement. The studio posted a brief note yesterday outlining its plans for the game’s evolution.

One element that has already been implemented is the ability to replay the animated opening. At launch, you only had one shot to see it, but fans asked for the option to see it again. Likewise, the ability to skip it entirely has now been added.

As far as gameplay is concerned, Gearbox says it will be pushing server-side balance changes on a weekly basis. Larger patches that impact client-side code will take a bit longer on console due to certification, but the studio already has items it plans to include in the first one.

Total War: Warhammer Adds Mod Support

Changing its mind, Total War: Warhammer Creative Assembly has decided to add official mod and Steam Workshop support for the game. Furthermore, the team is already trying to help some modders so their creations are available when the game releases on PC on May 24.

Modders Magnar and Dresden are working with CA to create a Legendary Lord Start Position and Regional Occupation mods, respectively. Also, those who have attended the studio's mod summits over the past three years are getting early access to the title to create mods for launch.

The developer's Assembly Kit modding tool box is also included, and additional functionality such as battle-map editing will be added later in 2016.

Super Punch-Out!! Slugs Its Way Over To New 3DS

Super Punch-Out!! Slugs Its Way Over To New 3DS

Nintendo's SNES sequel to Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is now available for download for New 3DS on Nintendo's eShop. Insert boxing joke here _______.

If you never played it, it's definitely worth the $7.99. It takes advantage of the Super Nintendo's hardware to create a translucent boxer who doesn't block your view of your opponent – or need to jump into the air like Little Mac. It's certainly a nicer-looking solution than the green-grid compromise that the old arcade version cooked up.

You can download the game today for $7.99.

Nintendo Announces E3 Plans, Regular Press Conference Timeslot Is A Zelda Livestream

about X hours ago from

Nintendo has announced what appears to be the entirety of its E3 plans this morning, and it looks like things are changing again. For the past three years, the company hasn’t had a press conference opting for a Nintendo Direct presentation on a grander scale. It appears that won’t even be happening this year.

The company’s normal E3 timeslot, 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning isn’t a Nintendo Direct. It’s the kickoff to the Treehouse Live streams that will happen all week, with The Legend of Zelda on Wii U (name still not final) leading the way.

With the upcoming NX console a no-show at this year’s E3, Nintendo is instead focusing on The Legend of Zelda. That game, originally due in 2015, delayed to 2016, and then bumped to an unspecified time in 2017 will appear on both Wii U and NX.

New Aliens And Weapons Spawn In XCOM 2’s Alien Hunters DLC

about X hours ago from

XCOM 2’s Alien Hunters DLC looks to give you more reasons to jump back into the fight for humanity later this month.

Alien Hunters will include a new narrative-driven mission that has players facing off against new aliens called Rulers. These Rulers are more formidable versions of pre-existing XCOM 2 enemies, such as the Viper King pictured above, and they all have their own unique behavior and tactics. These Rulers will show up at random during your campaign, and if you don’t take them down fast enough, they could escape.

Thankfully, this DLC also introduces four new weapons players will be able to research and build. The Bolt Caster is a high damage single-shot weapon. The Hunter’s Axe is a powerful new blade weapon. The ShadowKeeper is a pistol that is guaranteed to hit and can place its user in concealment when the enemy is killed. And finally, the Frost Bomb is a grenade that temporarily freezes enemies.

Rumor: Volition And Deep Silver Working On New Title Agents of Mayhem

Volition (Saints Row IV) and Deep Silver are allegedly working on a new title, Agents of Mayhem. The rumor is fueled by three different sources, all citing the project by name.

The first piece of evidence is a trademark filed and available for viewing at the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The entire document can be viewed here at the official site.

The second clue is in the form of a resume for animator John Velazquez, which cites the title as one of the recent projects that he has worked on. This document can be viewed here.
