Xbox One Backward Compatibility Can Now Accommodate Multi-Disc Games

You might recall back when Xbox One backward compatibility was announced that there was a caveat. The Microsoft engineering team was having some trouble getting multi-disc games to play nicely.

There’s been progress in that area, and those titles are now eligible for backward compatibility support. That means that Mass Effect 2 and 3, LA Noire, Max Payne 3, Lost Odyssey, and more can now be added to the library.

“I can confirm that the BC team has done work to support multi disc scenarios,” wrote Xbox spokesperson Larry Hryb on Reddit. “Be sure to thank the BC engineers.”

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Movement System Will Be Similar To Black Ops III

With Call of Duty helmed by three different studios and featuring different settings each year, there are inevitably going to be gameplay changes. 2015’s Black Ops III introduced a chain system that combines boosting, sliding, wall-running, and dashing. That will carry over to this year’s entry.

In response to a question on Twitter, Infinity Ward had this to say about what players can expect from Infinite Warfare:

@CODINT3L If you’ve played #BlackOps3 before, our take on the chain-based fluid movement system will feel natural to you. #InfiniteWarfare

Blizzard Will Ban Cheaters On First Offense, No Exceptions

Blizzard Will Ban Cheaters On First Offense, No Exceptions

Blizzard has made a definitive statement on cheating in Overwatch. If you’re caught, you’re banned.

The publisher issued a statement laying down the law with regard to hacks, bots, or any other third-party software that might provide a competitive edge. Players can report potential cheaters, but they should know that they won’t get a response or update on the investigation.

"Not only does cheating undermine the spirit of fair play that all of our products are based on, but it works to diminish the fun and enjoyment of others," writes community manager "Lylirra." "While we are unlikely to publicly acknowledge when accounts are closed as a result of cheating or using unauthorized programs, we have and will continue to monitor Overwatch for exploitative behavior, as well as take action as needed to preserve the integrity of game."

You can read the comic on Blizzard’s website (as well as the three previous issues). You can also check out animated trailers focused on Winston and Windowmaker.

Where Is Our Doom Review?

Where Is Our Doom Review?

As we’ve done in the past, we want to give you a heads up on review timing of a major release. Bethesda informed us earlier this week that Doom review copies would not arrive before the public release.

The company provided a statement on the matter, suggesting that the multiplayer and SnapMap components are driving the decision. Bethesda says it wants players to take the game as a “complete package.”

“DOOM is a robust game comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap,” the publisher says. “All three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.”

Super Meat Boy And Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Now Available On Wii U

The Wind Waker DS sequel and Team Meat's challenging platform are available on Wii U this week.

Originally released on 2007, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker, picking up shortly after the events of the GameCube game. When the game released we gave it a 9.5 writing, "This adventure is worthy of Zelda canon, and has enough great stuff going for it to be considered one of the year’s best adventures."

Super Meat Boy, curiously, was originally developed as a Wii game, before it changed hands and direction to releases on the Xbox 360 in 2010. This is a port of that version of the game, but like its PlayStation 4 and Vita ports, does not feature the game's original soundtrack composed by Danny Baranowsky. We gave the Xbox 360 version of Super Meat Boy a 9. You can find our review here.
