Gearbox Reveals Battleborn's 27th Playable Character, Pendles

Gearbox has announced its 27th Battleborn, Pendles. Pendles is a slender anthropomorphic reptile, equipped with poison, double kamas, and hightop sneakers.

Pendles will be available for free to any Battleborn players with 47,500 in-game credits or by using one of the game’s hero keys, awarded via the season pass but not necessarily required for use on the new characters. No release date has been given, but he's expected to be available in the coming months. You can click on the image above to see Pendles in all his sneaker-wearing glory.

The recently revealed Alani enters early access today for any players who bought Battleborn's Season Pass or Digital Deluxe edition, or participated in the PlayStation 4 open-beta. She's available on all platforms and will release May 31 for all other players.

Conan O'Brien Pits Tyrion and Cersei Lannister Against Each Other in Overwatch

Conan O'Brien Pits Tyrion and Cersei Lannister Against Each Other in Overwatch

Blizzard’s latest shooter Overwatch launches today, and Conan O’Brien has brought the game to the popular Clueless Gamer segment of his show. He’s not alone, however, as Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey join in on the action.

Clueless Gamer is a frequent video series that features, as you may have guessed, someone who is not the most adept at gaming trying out a hot new title. Thanks to the guests from Game of Thrones, this episode also has some jokes about that series, and don't worry, no spoilers. Dinklage also previously played the Ghost in Destiny's original release, but has since been replaced. The few brief matches show off Overwatch’s cast of diverse heroes, including Winston and Hanzo, who apparently looks a lot like Khal Drogo actor Jason Momoa.

Rocket League Xbox One/PC Cross-Platform Play Launches Today

Xbox One Rocket League players now have a larger pool of potential competitors. Psyonix has announced that cross-platform play is coming today.

With the PlayStation 4 version supporting cross-platform play since launch, this opens the door for truly open competition between rival platforms. When we spoke with Sony’s Adam Boyes at GDC, he suggested that if developers and publishers want this feature that the platform holder would be open to it.

While Psyonix isn’t touting Xbox One-to-PS4 cross-play today, we’ll find out later this afternoon if the wall between consoles is crumbling. You’ll be able to play with your new friends starting at 6 p.m. Eastern / 3 p.m. Pacific today.

Activision Launches Free-To-Play Mobile Card Game Skylanders Battlecast

about X hours ago from

Activision has launched its free-to-play mobile collectible card game based on the popular toys-to-life franchise Skylanders. Skylanders Battlecast takes the collection aspect of the franchise to a new level as players are able to work toward building massive collections of cards to take into battle. Unlike many other collectible card games, Skylanders Battlecast puts an emphasis on the visuals in order to make the battles as entertaining and engaging to watch as possible.

The ultimate goal is to best your opponents in card duels in hopes of becoming a champion of the Skylands through matchmaking and direct friend challenges, but players can also battle against Kaos in a single-player story mode. As players play through the more than 60 missions across eight elemental islands in the campaign, they can collect up to 300 character, spell, gear, and relic cards. Battle reward gold that can be used to purchase in-game cards, with the rewards given out based on how many challenges you complete within that mission.

Netflix Adding Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, And Marvel Movies Through Exclusive Deal This Fall

about X hours ago from

Netflix has announced that it will become the "the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar" this fall. That means that fans of Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the countless classics from Disney and Pixar can look forward to getting more bang for their buck with their Netflix subscriptions this fall.

While the blog post doesn't detail exactly what titles are coming to the streaming service, the fact that Netflix is now the exclusive partner of Disney for this brand of streaming would lead you to believe that the roster of films will be robust. The only hint of what content subscribers might be able to look forward to could be the word "latest," which could mean more recent titles – or it could just be marketing lingo.

Either way, this September should see a healthy addition to its library of popular movies this fall. In addition, Netflix announced that films such as the Jurassic Park trilogy, The Big Short, Back to the Future, and The Fast & the Furious would be coming to the service throughout the summer months.

Overwatch Ranked Competitive Mode Will Hopefully Return In Late June

about X hours ago from

In a community Q&A video on Facebook today, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan fielded a number of questions about the game. When the servers open up in just a few hours, you’ll be able to dive in, but one mode will be absent.

Competitive mode was pulled from the release for some tuning, and Kaplan explained what players can expect when it returns. He was asked what, if anything will be changing.

“A lot has changed,” Kaplan says. Competitive mode is the current focus of the Overwatch team. It’s the most important for us to add to the game. Players saw that we tried to get it in for closed beta, and we had a version in and working. The feedback that we were seeing was a little bit critical of some of the decisions we made, and we took that to heart.”
