EA Originals Indie Publishing Program Kicks Off With Zoink Studios' Fe

Last year, EA vice president Patrick Soderlund told us that the publisher would be investing more in indies like Coldwood's Unravel. Today, EA announced a new indie publishing program called EA Originals.

The first game under the program, which seems like a successor to the defunct EA Partners initiative, is Fe from Zoink Studios. You play a strange creature that is trying to uncover the mysteries of his species.

Each plant and animal in the forest has its own song, and learning a new one connects you further with the world and opens up more areas to explore. The forest is not without its dangers, though. The Silent Ones have a nefarious purpose you'll need to overcome.

EA Reveals New Esports Events

During the EA Play press conference, the publisher revealed a new series of Esports events that will be available in several upcoming EA games, including Battlefield 1 and Titanfall.

There were three events that the publisher briefly described, each of them intended to appeal to a different niche of players. Challenger Events are designed to allow players to host their own events while Premier Events are described as "large scale events" that EA hosts with selected partners. The last tier of events is simply called EA Major Events and are major events run "on a global scale" featuring the top players of each game.

Respawn Details New Features For Titanfall 2 Multiplayer

To kick off its 2016 E3 press conference, EA and Respawn showed off the first footage of the game's multiplayer. This reveal follows the single-player leak earlier today.

According to Respawn's Vince Zampella, Titanfall 2 adds six new Titans, expanded pilot gameplay, and a deep progression system – something many criticized the first game for lacking. The trailer showed off new weapons as well, like a gravity grenade, an anti-air laser, and a grappling hook with which pilots can grab other airborne pilots.

Respawn will be hosting a multiplayer technical test ahead of the game's launch. To register for that, players can go to Titanfall.com for more information.

Rumor: Image Of Xbox One Slim Leaks, Detailing Improvements

We strongly suspected Microsoft would be releasing information on new hardware at E3. Today, an alleged image of the Xbox One S has emerged online. If accurate, the new console brings some new features, but there's no mention of power differences yet.

The image that emerged first on NeoGAF (with another view of the console on a vertical stand showing up later) details what we can expect. If this image is real, the Xbox One S will be 40-percent smaller, feature 4K video output, high dynamic range, and a new controller design.

The vertical stand is also included in the box. No pricing or timing is listed. We'll know for sure tomorrow at Microsoft's conference.

EA has already fixed its error, but it erroneously posted a portion of its press conference rehearsal and revealed a number of Titanfall 2 details.

Ubisoft Confirms Star Trek VR Game In The Works, Will Show Off At E3 Presser

Today Ubisoft made known its plans to boldly go into VR with Star Trek. The game is called Star Trek: Bridge Crew and is being developed by Red Storm Entertainment, known for its work on the Tom Clancy franchise.

The VR experience takes place in the Abrams' Star Trek universe and allows four players to board starship Aegis and assume the role of captain, tactical, engineering, or helm officer. You must explore an uncharted sector of space called The Trench to find a suitable new home for the population of Vulcan. Fans will remember this planet got destroyed the 2009 movie, Star Trek.

You use a VR headset along with hand controllers. The game replicates your head and hand motions, allowing you to scan for foreign objects, active warp drive, and display relevant imagery on the ship's viewscreen. You also must work with your team during combat and exploration, making decisions on how you want to approach situations and what the best course of action is. Red Storm creative director David Votypka told ABC News, "The game is more about how you and your crew approach situations. It's not binary. Is it more important to save the Vulcan scientists or rescue everyone on the planet? It might be too difficult to do both. It's just like the show. There's not any one right answer."

Replay – Monster Hunter

about X hours ago from

The first Monster Hunter (and its follow-ups) were huge hits in Japan, but it landed with a thud in Game Informer's office when it released in 2004. Our lukewarm feelings, however, were not universal. In fact, we found someone in our office who has a full on obsession with the original and the franchise in general, and brought her on Replay to tell us why she loves the series so much.

This week Andrew Reiner, Joe Joe Juba, and myself are joined by Game Informer senior graphic designer and Monster Hunter superfan Laleh Tobin. Laleh shows us the ropes, explains why the game hooked her when it released, and shows off her save file on which she has poured literally hundreds of hours.

For part two we do one of our favorite things, which is to grab a Super Nintendo game none of us have ever heard of, and hope for the best.
