Pokémon Go Rolls Out In 15 More Countries

Niantic has added 15 more countries to the worldwide Pokémon Go rollout. The newly online locations include parts of Asia and Oceania (the region that includes Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and more).

As with all other rollouts, be aware that you may run into server problems as new players create accounts and come online. However, Niantic has taken steps recently to mitigate server load.

This includes blocking trackers like Pokevision. Niantic also severely limited functionality related to the Nearby feature and allegedly increased the server call time that allows new Pokémon to appear on your map.

Imposing Doom Marine Figure Available For Pre-Order

The original Doom is one of the most revered games in history, and this year's installment got plenty of love. The series may be popular, but its hero doesn't get the same level of appreciation as many other industry icons. You can help change that by ordering this new Doom Marine (a.k.a. Doomguy) figure.

Toy producer ThreeA, along with id Software and Bethesda, revealed the figure and opened up pre-orders this week as part of the QuakeCon festivities. It is over 13 inches tall and features 27 points of articulation, but the impressive size and detail come at a cost – $260, to be exact. If that's in your budget, you can pre-order today and receive the final version when it ships in Q2 2017.

The figure comes with interchangeable hands, a plasma rifle, and two shotguns. If you place your order through either the Bethesda or Bambaland stores, you also get an exclusive chainsaw accessory.

No Man's Sky Saves Won't Work After Pre-Launch Patch

about X hours ago from

If you happen to have a copy of No Man's Sky early, consider whatever you play now to be a practice run. Your save isn't going to make it all the way to Tuesday.

Sony has issued a statement on copies obtained from retailers who have broken the street date. "For those users who have obtained early copies of No Man’s Sky, their save progress will not carry over to the final game after the universe has been regenerated for launch," Sony says.

The company says that the "significant" patch coming between now and Tuesday, that will fully realize the vision laid out by the studio from the beginning. For that reason, as we've already mentioned, review copies have not been sent. The patch will be deployed on Monday, cutting it close for the game's release. Prior to that, servers will be wiped at the end of the weekend.

Square Enix Q1 Sales Thrive Thanks To Mobile Lineup And Dragon Quest Heroes II

The first quarter of Square Enix’s fiscal year 2017 kicked off with improved sales thanks to strong mobile performers in the East. With two Final Fantasy titles among them, the publisher is off to a strong revenue start, with big expectations for the year.

Thanks to games like Mobius Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which have been out for a little longer in Japan, sales jumped by 21.1 percent to ¥51.2 billion ($505.8 million). The publisher also cites strong early performance of Dragon Quest Heroes II, which launched in May in Japan.

Square Enix’s video game segment saw a better-than-aggregate lift in sales during this quarter. Digital entertainment revenue amounted to ¥3.75 billion ($370.5 million), an increase of 23.8 percent.

No Man’s Sky Officially Delayed Three Days On PC

After more than week of conflicting information, we now know for sure. No Man’s Sky is coming three days later on PC than on PS4.

There had been some suspicion due to a change in timing on Hello Games’ website, and even know Steam still has the game listed as coming on August 9. However, Hello Games founder Sean Murray has finally made it official.

I really want to clarify our PC release date. It's something we're working extremely hard on

No Man’s Sky Servers Will Be Wiped On Sunday

about X hours ago from

So, you got yourself an early copy of No Man’s Sky. You cruised around a bit, monkeyed around on a planet, and gave it a not-so-funny name. Hope you’re ready to do it all over again.

Sony and Hello Games are clearly frustrated by the number of early copies out in the wild prior to a patch that the duo feels is crucial. While the video is out there and people are delivering impressions, Sony does seem to have an ace up its sleeve. The servers are getting reset before launch.

This comes from Harry Denholm, who works on the code powering No Man’s Sky. He posted the following to twitter:

Overwatch Fans Continue To Unravel Clues About Mystery Character Sombra

Overwatch Fans Continue To Unravel Clues About Mystery Character Sombra

In the weeks leading up to the release of Overwatch's first post-release character, Ana, fans were scouring the game for any clues they could find about her appearance, abilities, and backstory. Many had dubbed her "Sombra," since at the same time fans were finding clues, Blizzard was teasing Ana. Weeks after Ana's release, it looks like Sombra is a different character entirely, and fans are still finding and deciphering clues about who Sombra might be.

The most concrete evidence we have of Sombra's existence comes from Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan. In an interview with Kotaku, Kaplan confirmed that Sombra and Ana are not the same character, expressing some amusement at fans confusing the two. "The interesting part was we then put a tease in for Ana in Temple of Anubis," said Kaplan. "Because people were so hot on the Sombra trail, they assumed that that tease for Ana was actually Sombra." She's also hinted at in various parts of the gam e's Dorado map.

We're Streaming No Man's Sky (Almost) All Day On Tuesday

about X hours ago from

The impossibly anticipated No Man's Sky releases on Tuesday, and we plan on streaming it almost all day. We're kicking things off at 11 a.m. CT and playing until around 5 p.m. CT, but who knows – if the universe is as vast and interesting as Hello Games promises, maybe we will keep playing.

Ben Reeves and I will kick off the stream, starting from the beginning of the game, and we will see how far we get. Other editors will likely pop-in to keep track of our progress and maybe even wrench the controller away from us and take things over. Much like the game we're playing, it's all very mysterious.

You can click the banner below to watch the stream on Twitch on Tuesday, or just tune in using the embedded video below. See you next week!
