EA Strongly Hints That Mass Effect Games Will Get Remastered

This console generation has become known for its plethora of remasters. Some, like The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V, have been solid updates to last generation's brightest games. Others haven't fared as well.

Right now, EA is the last big publisher to be staying away from that arms race. When I spoke with Patrick Soderlund, executive vice president for EA Studios at E3 2015, he emphasized that the company was looking ahead to new projects instead of dipping into the back catalog for remasters.

In the year since, that position has been reversed, as EA is now strongly considering a move into the remaster space. Of all the publisher's games, one series that stands out as having strong demand from fans: Mass Effect.

Pop Culture Shock is creating three different versions of the statue: a standard edition (with clenched teeth), an "exclusive edition" that comes with an interchangeable head (with mouth open), and a third edition that will be revealed next week.

The statue doesn't ship until the fourth quarter of next year, but Pop Culture Shock is opening preorders for it on August 29 at 3 p.m. PT. All three versions carry the SRP of $529.99.

New Street Fighter V Update Hits Rage-Quitters Hard

about X hours ago from

Victory is sweet, and being robbed of that satisfaction by sore losers is disappointing. The August update for Capcom’s flagship fighter puts new measures in place to keep players from leaving an online match before it has concluded.

The update is scheduled to be applied on August 16 during server maintenance. After that, new consequences will be applied for players that try to unfairly avoid a loss by quitting. “We are aware of the Rage Quitting issue, and this update will continue our efforts toward resolving it,” reads an update on Capcom-Unity. “We will make a second update to the existing Rage Quitting system with stricter guidelines for players who disconnect before the match is over. Players who are penalized will lose League Points and be locked out of online matching for a set time.”

This is Capcom’s latest (but not the first) step toward rectifying the rage-quitting epidemic, which was especially bad closer to launch.
