Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Introduces Permadeath Mode

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a video game, but it doesn't have to be in the title's new YOLO permadeath mode.

As you can easily imagine, the mode allows the player only one life in the game, with the loss of that life bringing players back to the beginning.

The mode is unlocked only after you defeat Specialist mode (itself unlocked after you beat the game on any difficulty). Specialist mode has its own perimeters including: healing only through nano shots, degenerative helmet damage, limb damage, and more.

Report: Valve Asking Developers To Show More In-Game Screenshots On Steam

Report: Valve Asking Developers To Show More In-Game Screenshots On Steam

As part of its upcoming "Discovery 2.0" update to Steam, Valve is asking developers to use more screenshots that show off the actual game, instead of concept art or stills that may not be representative of the final product.

The news comes from an update addressing Steamworks developers, later shown to Polygon. In the update, Valve outlines two requests for action it seeks from developers: the first, to tag any screenshots a developer felt were "inappropriate" to better filter them out of the Steam pages of users who would prefer not to see offensive content.

The second request asked developers to upload fewer images of concept art or stills from trailers for their games' store page, and more shots of the games in action. "When the 'screenshot' section of a store page is used for images other than screenshots that depict the game," wrote Valve UI designer Alden Kroll in the update, "it can make it harder for customers to understand what the product is that they are looking at."

Take-Two Earnings Call Touts 70 Million Grand Theft Auto V Sales, 1 Million Civilization VI Sales

Take-Two had its quarterly earnings call today, touting the success of many of its titles across the board and posting a net revenue growth of $420 million, up 21% from last year's second quarter.

The company attributed much of this success to Grand Theft Auto V/Online, which the company reports has sold over 70 million copies as of the quarter. Both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online continue, "to exceed our expectations, as they have in every quarter since their release," said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. The company cited the many updates and DLC (such as the recent Halloween update) as a large part of the game's continued success.

Take-Two then shifted focus to its other successful franchises. In addition to announcing the positive sales of Mafia III, Take-Two also announced its plans to release content as part of the game's season pass, but did not announce specifics. Along with Mafia III, NBA 2K17 has also sold around 4.5 million units, making it the fastest-selling game in the series. Civilization VI has sold over 1 Million units, making it the fastest-selling title in the series and bolstering lifetime sales of the franchise to 37 million worldwide. Pokémon Go Getting Daily Bonuses In Latest Update

With the game's Halloween event coming to a close, it seems Niantic wants to keep Pokémon Go's momentum going by adding daily bonuses. Launching in the game's next update, the bonuses will be attached to your local time and should reset at 12am every day.

While some of these updates are fairly normal fodder (like catching a Pokémon or activating a PokéStop each day), there will be extra rewards for doing those activities seven days in a row. Both will net you extra experience, with Pokémon netting extra stardust and stops giving out more items.

There is no current release date for this new update.

Mafia III Is Now 2K's Fastest Selling Game, Company Reports

Mafia III has been a divisive game. Even here at Game Informer, we've argued the game is important in some ways, even though Reiner wasn't elated with how the end product turned out.

Whether you knocked the repetitive gameplay or love its unique and confrontational setting, you can't argue Mafia III has gotten off to a good start financially. The Washington Post reports 2K has confirmed the game sold over 4.5 million to retailers in its first week, making it the fastest-selling title in the company's history.

Mafia III took a number of risks, not the least of which was casting a person of mixed race in the lead role for the game's 1968 setting. Responding to the game's success, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick remarked how it could be a response to the gaming audience's growing acceptance of more diverse characters. "I do think consumers are searching for a representation of our exceedingly diverse world in our entertainment and art,” he said.

Destroy All Humans! Available On The PlayStation 4 Store

Over eleven years after its initial release, Destroy All Humans! is now on the PlayStation 4 digital store for $19.99, complete with trophies and widescreen support.

Destroy All Humans! stars Cryptosporidium-136, an alien hellbent on taking over Earth in the 1950s through destruction, psychokinesis powers, and, yes, anal probing. Game Informer's Joe Juba gave the game an 8 back in his 2005 review.

Destroy All Humans! 2 has not been officially announced for a digital release PS4, but it has been recently rated by PEGI, which heavily implies its impending release.
