You Can Explore Google Earth In VR For Free, If You Have A Vive

If you're looking for something to do with your newly-purchased (or months-old) HTC Vive, you may want to consider exploring our entire planet.

Google has released a Google Earth VR app on Steam, for free. The app uses Google's image data of Earth to let you fly around the planet or walk at ground level, allowing you to virtually travel to the pyramids of Egypt or fact-check whether the K Mart near the Subway you remember going to years ago is still there.

You can download the app, which requires the Vive in order to use, on its official Steam page. You can watch a trailer for the app below.

System Shock Remake Delayed To 2018

Earlier this year, Nightdive studios raised over $1.3 million on Kickstarter for a full-fledged remake of the original System Shock for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While the remake is still on the way, fans and backers will have to wait quite a a bit longer to get their hands on the fruits of Nightdive's labor, as the game's projected launch date has moved from December 2017 to the second quarter of 2018.

The news comes via this month's update on the project from Nightdive. Along with the news of the delay, the studio says that it is "not sure if it will be a simultaneous launch [on all platforms], but we’ll do our best."

Finally, the team released a new piece of concept art for the game (found below) to tide fans over for the month. While you wait for the full game to launch, you can watch us play the demo, or play the demo for yourself.

Battlefield 1 Leads Mafia III, Gears Of War 4, And Titanfall 2 On October's NPD Rankings

This year is all about shooters, so it's no surprise that three of last month's best-selling games fall under the genre. Mafia III is also ranked very high, while the previous month's sports games continue to sell well. It's surprising to see Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim back on the list, considering its recent current-gen console re-release, but considering the game's long-term popularity, it really shouldn't be.

1. Battlefield 12. Mafia III3. Gears of War 4
4. FIFA 17
5. NBA 2K17
6. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
7. WWE 2K17
8. Civilization VI
9. Titanfall 2
10. Madden NFL 17

Other highlights from the NPD report for October include growth in hardware and accessories spending since last year, which NPD attributes directly to the quality of the games seen above. Software sales saw a huge jump with a 36% increase over last year.

Reader Discussion: Pokémon Sun Or Moon?

Pokémon Sun and Moon release tomorrow (or tonight if you're a Pokémon Moon sort of person), and it begs the question: which one will you be grabbing?

The main differences relate to the legendary seen on each game's cover, the assorted exclusive and common versus uncommon Pokémon in each version, and the day night cycle. Pokémon Sun's day/night cycle reflects real life, while Moon's is reversed.

Swapnote Sequel Swapdoodle Available Now On The 3DS eShop

Nikki is coming back to help you draw silly doodles to send to your friends. This adorable messaging app is free-to-start, with lessons to draw Nintendo characters starting at $2.99.

Swapdoodle will let you send hand drawn doodles to people on your friends list through Spotpass. Writing more notes unlocked additional backgrounds in Swapnote, though it's uncertain if that will return here.

Nintendo used Swapnote for a variety of promotions in the past, with Miis of Reggie Fils-Aimé, Eiji Aonuma, and Shigeru Miyamoto visiting to deliver messages like they do in Streetpass Plaza. The service was shut down in 2013 as some users circulated explicit content with the software.

Two classic games are now available for download on the Wii U. Wario Land: Shake It and Excitebike 64 for Virtual Console can now be purchased from the Nintendo eShop.

Originally released for the Wii in 2008, Wario Land: Shake It stars Mario's evil counterpart in a side-scrolling platformer that makes use of the Wii Remote's motion controls for actions like shaking objects and triggering earthquakes. It also had a really amazing YouTube trailer back in the day. The stages feature missions and secrets to keep players returning to levels they've already cleared. The Wii U version of the game is compatible with the GamePad controller.

Excitebike 64, for the Nintendo 64, brought the classic NES motocross title into 3D. There are tricks to learn, several riders to choose from, and the ability to create your own tracks. You can race against up to four friends, and use the Wii U controller to play off-TV.

Ubisoft Hoping To Have Watch Dogs 2's Seamless Multiplayer Online

Watch Dogs 2's seamless multiplayer, which was meant to allow players to run into one another while exploring San Francisco, was pulled offline for launch as it was causing crashes and slowdown. Today. Ubisoft offered a statement for when that aspect of the game will be online, and it's not too far off. You can find the full statement from Ubisoft below.

The Watch Dogs 2 development team has prioritized finding a solution for activating the seamless multiplayer feature in the game. They are currently conducting extensive internal testing of a solution to both ensure it causes no regression to the core single player experience as well as smoothly integrates the seamless multiplayer. If the solution works as intended, we hope to permanently flip the switch to turn on seamless multiplayer as soon as this weekend. To our current players, we sincerely appreciate the support and patience during this process.

Meanwhile, players still have full access to the campaign, side activities and the opportunity to join in Coop with those on their Friends list to hack and explore the open world of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 20th Pokémon Movie And A Series Based On Sun And Moon Are Coming Soon

Pokémon animations have been a giant part of the franchise since the premiere of the show and the first time Mewtwo flew across the screen to a raging guitar solo. That trend is set to continue with two different productions: Pokémon The Series: Sun and Moon along with Pokémon The Movie: Volcanion and The Mechanized Marvel.

The animated Sun and Moon series is slated to come to Disney XD. No release date has been set yet, though it'll probably be sometime soon in order to capitalize on the release of the new games. This new series is getting an overhauled animation style, which may be jarring to fans used to the more traditional art of the older cartoons.
