PlayStation Experience 2016 Sees Its First Accessibility In Video Games Panel

PlayStation Experience is underway and runs through tomorrow, featuring a press conference at 1 p.m. ET this afternoon and several panels in-between. One of these panels will be discussing on the importance of accessibility in making video games more inclusive for not just disabled gamers, but for the community as a whole.

On the PlayStation Blog, the panel is described as follows:

Accessibility features help empower all gamers—not just those with disabilities—and we want to set an industry standard of inclusion. We’re bringing together some of the top minds from the accessibility community, PlayStation and NaughtyDog to discuss best practices for game developers and to share powerful stories about the broader impact of accessibility features in games.

What To Watch This Weekend: The PlayStation Experience, The Smash Open, And The Boston Major

What To Watch This Weekend: The PlayStation Experience, The Smash Open, And The Boston Major

This is going to be a good weekend to watch games, play games, and learn about games. While all eyes will be on PSX to see what sorts of big announcements (fingers crossed for Marvel Vs. Capcom 4!) will be at the show, there's a lot of big events that will be coming to a head this weekend.

While it's not the enormous, community-driven spectacle of Evo, Capcom Cup could be the most intense Street Fighter tournament of the year. Its 32 entrants have all earned their way into the tournament by doing well at other events throughout the year, and its enormous first-placce $120,000 prize (plus money from some of Street Fighter V's DLC) should assure players bring their A-game. (Stream / Schedule)

Of course, Capcom is nestled within the PlayStation Experience, which should have a number of big, PlayStation-related announcements streamed live, as well as a showcase and panels. (Stream / Schedule)

Weekend Warrior – Super Anime Car Boys XV: The Reckoning

The Game Awards were filled with fun games and Hydroman, but now it's time to take a step back and dive into Final Fantasy XV. The weather in Minneapolis is perfect for JRPGs (thanks for the tip Ben Hanson) so a few of us are gonna cuddle up to Pokémon as well. PSX is coming up this weekend, so if the VGAs didn't sate your need for game trailers, maybe something awesome will be announced this weekend. What are you doing to fight the winter winds?

Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – I'm finally going to go see this Arrival movie Reiner won't stop yelling about and then I'm probably going to spend the rest of my weekend blasting through Anime Boi Road Trip XV so Kim, Joe, and I can all shout at each other about which Anime Boi is actually Anime Boi Supreme. Also: Wolfenstein and Titanfall 2.

Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – I've got an annual tradition of binge-watching Buffy alone in my room for a few weeks, starting around Thanksgiving, until I get through it all.  I'm in the home stretch, mid season 7!  So there's that...  Thinking I'll also go see Arrival and re-watch that new Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay trailer about 50 more times.
