What To Watch This Weekend: Pokémon, Gears of War, and Dota 2

Now comes the testy period between Thanksgiving and the holiday season. For us in the U.S., anyway. For everyone across the pond and beyond, it's just another wonderful weekend to sit back and find something to watch this weekend.

Dota 2's big, single-elimination tournament The Boston Major will have its last semifinal matches and its grand finals today. Today's series will see hotly contended matches between OG and EG, DC and AF, and the winning two acronyms from those first two matches. (Stream / Schedule)

On a less serious note League of Legends' All-Star Event will feature less competitive tournaments, but will also have a few regional matches to keep things interesting. (Stream / Schedule)

Weekend Warrior – So Long And Thanks For All The Fish

The year is rapidly coming to a close, and naturally talk around the office has turned to year-end lists. With most of 2016's big releases out, now's the perfect time to revisit some of the games we didn't get enough time with earlier in the year. Meanwhile, we interns have come to the end of our term here, so we're saying our farewells to the staff and making plans for our next adventures. What are your weekend plans, dear Game Informer readers? Are you road tripping through Final Fantasy, or hanging out with your new pal Trico? Let us know in the comments.

Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – I’m going to be relaxing in my quiet little apartment, taking some much needed time to myself to watch Bebop, write some WORDS, and continue playing through Anime Boi Road Trip XV.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – While I’d love to spend much more time playing Final Fantasy XV, I need to cram in a lot of time with Pokemon Sun and Moon for our upcoming Game Club. We hope you all join along in the tropical fun and stuff! Have a good weekend!

Five Ubisoft Studio Executives Collectively Fined More Than One Million Dollars For Insider Trading

Today Autorité des marchés financiers, which regulates the French stock market, announced €1.27 million (~$1.33 million) fines for five Ubisoft studio executives regarding insider trading. The charges accuse the executives of selling stock right before prominent Ubisoft games, like Watch Dogs, were to be delayed. Those being fined include:

If you can read French, you can check out the sanction document for yourself here. We asked Ubisoft for comment and they issued this statement:

Today, the AMF announced a decision against five of our team members in Canada and France, whom the AMF charges with having sold Ubisoft shares while in possession of privileged information related to the probability of postponing one of Ubisoft’s games.

Watch Terry Crews Pet Bunnies And Play Battlefield 1 With Conan O'Brien

Battlefield 1 addresses the harsh realities of World War I and even host Conan O'Brien and actor Terry Crews have to take a break from the grim tone in the newest episode of Clueless Gamer. At least they know what to do this time, as opposed to Conan's last Clueless Gamer on Final Fantasy XV.

Crews is familiar with video games too, given that he's built a PC with his son and tested out the HTC Vive. Watch as he plays and Conan watches and uses his wit to (once again) point out the many idiosyncrasies in video games.

Super Mario Run Requires A Constant Internet Connection To Play

Those of you who were planning to play Super Mario Run on airplanes or the subway: we've got some bad news. The mobile game requires a constant internet connection to play it.

We reached out for a comment about this from Nintendo and after confirming the game does require an online connection, they issued this statement:

Online connectivity allows us to offer a variety of features and services that enhance the play experience.  Super Mario Run is not a static experience, but rather one that players can continue to return to again and again to enjoy something new and unexpected. For example, online connectivity can offer the following:

War for the Planet of the Apes Gets Its First Trailer

The third act in the Planet of the Apes reboot is finally upon us with a new trailer. Caesar (voiced by Andy Serkis) comes face to face with the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) in an epic battle for the planet.

This direct sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' tone set to be much darker than previous entries as Caesar is torn between his morals and using whatever tactics possible to save his kind.  Allegedly the fourth movie is already being planned out before this one has hit theaters.
