Ed Boon Teases Possible Injustice 2 Release Date

The creator of Mortal Kombat is being cryptic, but he might have revealed the release date for Injustice 2, which could be only a few months away.

Ed Boon, creative director at NetherRealm Studios, recently posted an image on Twitter, bearing the phrase "i2.05.16.17." The "i2" in the image hints that this could be a release date for Injustice 2 (May 16 of this year), but it's possible that this is something else instead. We've reached out to Warner Bros. for more details, but we're guessing that Boon wants to keep people guessing. For more on Injustice 2, check out the trailer from Gamescom, or read our massive interview with Ed Boon himself for insight into this creator's brain.

Reader Discussion: What Classic Game Do You Need To Go Back To?

The holiday blitz is over, so as we settle in for winter's long haul, now is the perfect time to go back and play the classics.

I had a busy holiday season, so I didn't get to play nearly as many games as I would have liked and I'm still catching up on my backlog, which includes Final Fantasy XV, The Last Guardian, and Dead Rising 4. I also want to make a second run through of Dishonored 2 at some point, so my January game time is pretty booked.

However, during the new year, I have a habit of playing through a classic I missed the first time around. This year, I'm thinking about going back to Earthbound, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, or Resident Evil: Revelations 2 ("classic" is a loose term).

Daybreak Games' Everquest Spinoff Landmark Is Already Closing

Landmark was originally the sandbox component envisioned as an incubator for Everquest Next, but after Sony sold Daybreak Games (previously Sony Online Entertainment), the studio canceled EverQuest Next. Now, Daybreak is shutting down Landmark as well.

According to a blog post on the game’s official site, Daybreak will close Landmark’s game servers on February 21 at 4:00pm PST. Effective immediately, Player Studio items will no longer be available for listing or for purchase, and new players will no longer be able to purchase Landmark. Currently, we don't know if Daybreak is working on any new projects to take the place of Landmark, but the studio will continue to manage its stable of online titles, which includes H1Z1, PlanetSide 2, and EverQuest II.

Rocket League Leads The List Of 2016's Most Downloaded PS4 Games

The PlayStation 4’s most downloaded game of 2016 didn’t actually come out in 2016.

Sony recently tweeted about its top downloads for 2016, and it showed that Rocket League sales have remained strong even in its second year. However, other older games like Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V also has a strong year. Meanwhile, Job Simulator and Batman: Arkham VR were the best selling games for Sony’s PlayStation VR peripheral.

Here's the full list of PS4 downloads, but for the full breakdown of PS4, PS3, and VR sales, head over to the PlayStation Blog.

Blizzard May Take D.Va Up On Her 'Nerf This' Offer

Blizzard May Take D.Va Up On Her 'Nerf This' Offer

A new round of balance changes are now live on Overwatch's test servers, including the option to equip multiple emotes, sprays, and voice lines. Perhaps more importantly, a few characters are getting some balancing tweaks, including D.Va, Ana, Sombra, and Roadhog.

We outlined Roadhog's test-server changes the other day, but his hook isn't the only aspect of the game that's getting fine-tuned. A variety of bugs that allowed Widowmaker and Sombra to unintentionally reach off-limits spots in maps have been squashed, and some visual glitches have also been addressed.

The character-specific balances are likely to be the most controversial. Notably, D.Va's armor is getting cut, and her damage output is being reduced overall. Take a look at her changes and the rest of the character tweaks in the text below, straight from Blizzard. And check out the official site for the complete notes, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to check out the changes on PC.

Here's What You Didn't Know About Ganon's Shadowy Past

Did you know that The Legend of Zelda's iconic villain was referred to as "Bull Demon King" in the original game's design documents? Or that his name is of Irish origin? Or that his game over laugh from Zelda II was copied from the game Punch-Out? Maybe it's time for a study break.

Impressive Mario Stop Motion Created Using Only Rubik's Cubes

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto once said that he dreamed of creating something similar to the Rubik's Cube, so it's fitting that several hundred Rubik's Cubes were used to create this stop motion video staring Nintendo's iconic plumber.

We can't imagine how long this stop motion video from Jugglersynchro actually took to complete. We have a bad imagination.

Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer Gets Its Own Series

We've all had a lot of fun watching Conan's Clueless Gamer segment where he plays the latest video games and makes fun of them. Sometimes he even brings on a celebrity or two for good measure. Turns out TBS has also taken notice of its fanfare and wants to expand it. Today in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter TBS revealed that a Clueless Gamer series is going into production next month.

"We've gotten to the point where video game companies are sending us their new product for us to play and make fun of because it's been such a huge success. We're going to go into production on a series of that," TBS president Kevin Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter.

This interview comes after rumors swirled about Conan shifting to a once a week format. Reilly says that's not the case, but some things will change and brought up the Clueless Gamer series as one new addition. "All of this is going to lead to more activity for him, not less. And how we balance that with whatever form the talk show takes is a point of discussion," he says.
