Perception, A Horror Game From BioShock Developers, Is Coming To Xbox One

Perception, a horror game from developers that worked on franchises such as BioShock and Dead Space, is coming to Xbox One. In Perception, you play from the perspective of a blind woman named Cassie who explores an ominous mansion.

Most horror games rely on atmosphere and sound, and in Perception, both become even more important. Cassie can use her echolocation to turn sounds into visual cues, which can help you find your way. Equipped with just a walking stick and a smartphone, you use your wits to outsmart a ghostly presence.

Report: Mass Effect Andromeda To Feature 'Meaningful' Side Quests Similar To The Witcher

In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Mass Effect Andromeda producer Fabrice Condominas delved into how BioWare is approaching side quests, and how it's taking inspiration from CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Condominas explained that the BioWare team listened to the criticism they received regarding the tedious side quests in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Condominas dubs the issue as the "Hinterlands problem," where players are forced to grind through unsatisfying side content in order to progress.

With Mass Effect Andromeda, Condominas explains that BioWare has learned from its missteps and is making a push for more "meaningful" side content.

EA Punishes Madden NFL Champion For 'Inappropriate' Social Media Conduct

After defeating all comers at the recent Madden Bowl 2017 tournament finals, Chris "Dubby" McFarland had a $75,000 paycheck under his belt. But after a string of "inappropriate" conduct on social media, EA has docked McFarland's payout and lowered his competitive ranking.

As Polygon reports, McFarland made a series of objectionable tweets (which have since been removed) on his personal account following his victory. EA met with McFarland and warned him about making more inappropriate tweets – a warning McFarland did not heed. After McFarland made additional offensive tweets, the Madden publisher decided to take action, cutting $3,000 from McFarland's winnings and removing 100 Madden NFL Championship Points from online ranking (according to EA Sports' website, the current highest-ranked player in Madden as of December has 1000 points). "These posts violated our Code of Conduct and don't represent the values of our organization," Matt Marcou, Madden's Competitive Gaming Commissioner, said in a statement.

Reader Discussion – What's Your Favorite Side Quest?

Reader Discussion – What's Your Favorite Side Quest?

Earlier this week we ran a feature about how developers create side quests, those delicious extra bits of story or gameplay we love to revel in. Side quests can make a game's world feel more lived-in, let you learn more about your favorite characters, and sometimes, they're the best part of the whole game.

So we want to know: what's your favorite side quest? Mine is probably the "Anju's Anguish" side quest from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's mask. It's an elaborate, twisting quest designed around the game's three-day cycle. You probably won't be able to unfurl it the first time you see it poking out and calling to you, as it requires items from other parts of the game to complete in full. But when you finally put it all together, and manage to get execute it within a single cycle, it not only offers the best exploration of the game's most divisive concept, but also a tender love story that's perfectly in line with the game's sad tone.

What's your favorite? Partial to the Loyalty Missions in Mass Effect 2? Love Batman: Arkham City's mix of collectibles and optional bosses? Let us know in the comments.

Splatoon 2 debuted during the Nintendo Switch's first trailer, with a scene of several players sitting near each other and playing a competitive match. Today, Nintendo announced two features that should help make the Splatoon 2 tournaments in that scenario a little easier to execute.

First, the company announced that the game will feature a new spectator mode, which will allow up to two players to spectate private matches of the game from several angles, including a directed camera, an overhead view, and a player cam. You can watch a trailer of the feature in action below.

What To Watch This Weekend: Call Of Duty, Smite, And Hearthstone

You may be wracked with guilt over what to get your valentine this weekend before Tuesday rolls around, but that doesn't mean you can't take some of the edge off by watching some eSports! There's a lot of good stuff this weekend, and we all know it's the thought that counts anyway. Or at least, that's the line you should give when you have to tell your soon-to-be ex when they realize you spent the weekend watching Call of Duty when you should have been thinking about getting them a present.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's having its CWL Atlanta Open, which will give viewers a chance to the see the game's high-flying movement options in full before the series returns to more traditional combat later this year. (Stream 1 / Stream 2Schedule)

Meanwhile, Smite's Spring Relegations tournament is this weekend and will bring together some of the game's best talent for the first time in the game's fourth Season. (Stream / Schedule)

Latest Trailer For Marvel's Infinity War Film Features Avengers, Guardians, And Spider-Man

Marvel has dropped a new trailer for their upcoming Infinity War film, detailing some minor (non-spoilery) overarching plot themes, showing off some production and concept art, and putting Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt in the same room.

The trailer doesn't show much footage of the actual film (which the trialer announces is "now in production"), instead acting as a sort of mini-documentary about the film. You get some short snippets of RDJ, Pratt, and Tom Holland on the first day of filming (January 23) talking about their feelings on the film, which is a cool crossover to see. Producer Kevin Feige then talks at length about the setup of the film, why they had to produce Civil War before starting on Infinity War. The trailer also features some concept art and behind-the-scenes shots, including our first look at the Guardians of the Galaxy working together with the Avengers. You can watch the full trailer below.

Weekend Warrior – Working Through The Backlog

Weekend Warrior – Working Through The Backlog

With weather still hovering near freezing, this weekend seems like the perfect time to catch up on games before Horizon kicks off an unusually busy Spring season. Some of us are even digging a little deeper into our backlogs, with games like Dark Souls 2 and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Alternatively, those who are willing to brave the cold can go see some excellent films opening in theaters, including The Lego Batman Movie and John Wick 2. Let us know in the comments below what you plan to do this weekend.

Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – I think I’m going to finally check out Up-Down tonight and see what all the fuss is about.  Other weekend plans include violating all better judgment and information I know about myself by attempting Resident Evil 7 in VR.  Subsequent events will likely include reimbursing my friend for the expensive VR equipment I’m going to break with my copious tears and flailing. I’m also in the final stretches of finishing my Wrench cosplay from Watch Dogs 2, so I’ll work on that while I probably re-watch all of The Expanse.  That show is good and everyone should be watching it.
