Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Leads January's Game Sales

Resident Evil 7's house of horrors proved popular last month, helping lead the charge into 2017.

Capcom's newest entry in its long-lived horror franchise was the best selling game of January 2017 even though it was only on sale for one week in that month. This is good news for Capcom, because the last time the publisher had the best-selling game of the month (in dollar sales) was March of 2009 with Resident Evil 5. In total, game software sales actually grew by about $39 million when compared to the same date a year ago.

However, the industries sales actually fell by about four percent overall thanks to a decline in hardware from the previous year. This is likely due to the fact that the PS4 and Xbox One are over three years old at this point and many players have finally purchased the newest hardware. The PlayStation 4 was the best-selling hardware of January 2017 while the NES Classic Edition was the third best-selling console of the month.

How To Easily Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon Or Espeon In Pokémon Go

When Pokémon Go first launch, crafty players quickly figured out that if they renamed their eevee Sparky, Rainer, or Pyro then the little 'mons would evolve into Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon, respectively. A similar trick seems to work for the recently released set of generation two critters.

The Silph Road ‏recently reported that if you rename your eevee Tamao before you evolve it then it will evolve into an Umbreon. Likewise, if you name your eevee Sakura it will turn into Espeon. We were able to confirm that this trick works when we tested it ourselves. Hopefully you stockpiled a few extra eevees. Happy Pokémon hunting!

Gore Verbinski Discusses Cancelled BioShock Movie

Gore Verbinski, director of The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the upcming A Cure For Wellness, is known for his stunning visual style and strange, immersive worlds. Fans of the BioShock game were thrilled when Verbinski was chosen to direct a film adaptation of the mad world of Rapture, an underwater utopia gone violently wrong, back in 2009. These eager fans were then disappointed when the project was cancelled in 2011 only eight weeks before filming and Verbinski stepped down as director.

In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) post on Reddit, one user asked Verbinski to elaborate on what had happened to the film. The director responded that there was no short answer, but cited the movie's R rating and budget as the main factors that led Universal to drop the project.

"It's an R rated movie. I wanted to keep it R rated, I felt like that would be appropriate, and it's an expensive movie. It's a massive world we're creating and it's not a world we can simply go to locations to shoot," he explained. "We'd be building an entire underworld universe. So I think the combination of the price tag and the rating, universal just didn't feel comfortable ultimately."

PewDiePie Responds Directly To Recent Controversy In New Video

YouTube superstar PewDiePie's ties to Disney were recently severed following the posting of a video where he paid $5 to two men to hold up a sign with anti-semetic words written on it. As a result, Disney, which owns Maker Studios who employs PewDiePie, severed their ties to the entertainer. You can read more about the controversy here.

In response today, Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg posted a video on his YouTube channel, which will continue to be active, sharing his side of the story. He acknowledges the joke went too far saying, "My intention was to prove how stupid [fiverr.com] is and how far you could push it by just paying $5. I'm sorry for the words that I used as I know they offended people, and I admit that the joke itself went too far." He understands how it may have offended, but calls out Wall Street Journal specifically for misrepresenting what was meant to be a joke. "I think most internet personalities can agree with me that the media generally doesn't like us very much," Kjellberg says, "Old shcool media does not like internet personalities... because they're scared of us."

Hearthstone's Year Of The Mammoth Delivers Big Changes With First 2017 Expansion

Hearthstone's Year of the Kraken is coming to an end with the release of the first 2017 expansion. With it, standard expansions and adventures like Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, and League of Explorers (Go away, Reno Jackson) will move to the Wild format. Blizzard is making some other big alterations as well.

Adventures are OUT in 2017. Instead, Blizzard plans to release three 130-card expansions. The storytelling and single-player missions typically associated with adventure content will be rolled into expansion content. This merging of adventure and expansion content concept begins with the second expansion of 2017.

Six Classic cards from the core set are rotating out into the Hall of Fame set. Although these cards are in the Classic set, they will only be allowed for use in Wild play. So what are the big six?
