Sony put out an interesting video yesterday: In it, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann talks to Guerrilla Games' Hermen Hulst about the creation of Horizon Zero Dawn. The two talk about the process of develop the protagonist Aloy, how Horizon came to be, and reveal a few interesting tidbits from the game's development.

Most interesting is the fact that other idea that Guerrilla almost made was "remarkably similar" to Read At Dawn's The Order: 1886. Other interesting facts include how the original Uncharted game was first set in a steampunk open world, and how Naughty Dog and Guerrilla occasionally share notes on development. The Switch's Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo Is Available Now

Along with many other announcements, Nintendo announced that a demo version of the upcoming Puyo Puyo Tetris would be available on the Switch's eShop today.

As promised, the demo is now live and available for download. It let's players try out the Versus and Swap modes, as well as the tutorials, if you're not familiar with the puzzle games. Puyo Puyo Tetris releases April 25, and will also be available on PlayStation 4

Nintendo made a lot of announcements today, and one of the blink and you miss it games was a new versus game tentatively titled Project Mekuru.

In it, players compete on a grid, butt-stomping the ground to send out waves of color. The player with their color taking over the most ground by the end of the match wins. You can also grab upgrades that make you move faster, change your wave pattern when you stomp the ground, or make your butt-stomping more powerful. It looks like a cross between Bomberman and Splatoon. The game will offer online multiplayer and will be available this summer.

Nioh's First DLC Coming Next Month

Channeling the spirit of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Nioh has been challenging players since the game first launched in February. Dragon of the North, the game's first DLC, will add more opportunities for players to face-off against difficult foes beginning on May 2nd.

Available as a stand-alone purchase or as part of the game's season pass, Dragon of the North adds an additional area to the game for players to explore. Called the Oshu region, this stage introduces new yokai enemy types, as well as new weapons and equipment. The DLC also brings a PvP game mode to Nioh.

At today's jam-packed Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced three new hardware additions to their latest console, and they're just what fans have been asking for.

First, on May 19, a limited inventory of stand-alone Switch docks will be released to retailers. The pricey add-on had previously been out of stock, and is much appreciated by gamers who like to move their hardware between multiple televisions.

June 16 will bring a new Joy-Con color, Neon Yellow, and, more importantly, a battery pack for the Joy-Con controllers. These new products are set to launch on the same day as Arms, the upcoming Switch-exclusive fighting title.

Nintendo announced several new Amiibo today, as well as revealed release dates for a few we already knew were coming via Nintendo Direct.

First, three new Link Amiibos will be arriving on June 23, based on designs from Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.

July 21st is going to be a big day for Amiibo hunters, as a total of nine new Amiibo will be dropping. The first three, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid will be launching alongside Splatoon 2, aand each comes with their own functionality in the game.

Splatoon 2 Release Date, New Game Mode Announced

Fans of Nintendo's paint-based shooter had a chance to demo Splatoon 2 during last month's global testfire, and the game now has an official release date: Splatoon 2 will launch on July 21.

As opposed to previous trailers, the Nintendo Direct stream showed none of the familiar team battles and instead introduced a new game mode known as Salmon Run. This co-op firefight-type arena pits up to four players against enemy creatures that spread pollution. Known as Chum, players must defeat these foes and the more powerful Steelhead boss enemies to clean up the area and collect power eggs, with the hint of a mystery reward for participating in the game mode.

The trailer also announced the arrival of three Splatoon 2 amiibos. These new figures of Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and Inkling Squid will interact with the player after connected to the game, allowing players to customize the character and take photos to share.

Payday 2 Coming To Nintendo Switch Later This Year

Nintendo announced today via Nintendo Direct that cooperative crime shooter Payday 2 will be making it's way to the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2017. While no specific release date was given, it was mentioned that a good amount of DLC will be available in the Switch port. It's unclear if it will be included with the base game or paid DLC. 

Payday 2 was last ported to Xbox One and Playstation 4 in 2015. You can read our review right here.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar Coming First To Nintendo Switch

During today's Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the upcoming RPG, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, will be a timed exclusive for Nintendo Switch.

After successfully raising over $800,000 during its 2015 Kickstarter campaign, the title was announced for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and now the title is not only making its way to Nintendo's popular console/handheld hybrid, but will also be temporarily exclusive to the Switch.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar will release on Nintendo Switch in "late summer," with other versions to follow sometime afterwards.
