Steam Greenlight Shuts Down Today

It's been a long time coming but Steam has finally pulled the curtain over its Greenlight service, which was the primary method for indie developers to get their games onto Valve's digital store.

In a blog post put by Product Designer Alden Kroll, Valve says "As of now, we are no longer accepting new game or software submissions via Steam Greenlight and voting has been disabled. One week from today, on June 13th, we'll be turning on Steam Direct."

Greenlight has often been heavily criticized for filling Steam's store with broken games and bad clones. Steam Direct is intended to solve many of the issues associated with Greenlight.

The Pokémon Company Clarifies Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon Is Not Coming To Switch

Rumors began swirling following this morning's Pokémon Direct that the newly announced Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon would be coming to Switch as well as 3DS, but The Pokémon Company has clarified that is not the case.

The Pokémon Company's press site listed the game as also being available for Switch in its platform listing, which is what kicked off the rumor. The Pokémon Company has offered a statement clarifying the "clerical error".

We would like to address rumours based on a clerical error on the Pokémon press site; Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon are coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DS family of systems and are not due for release on Nintendo Switch. This listing on the Pokémon press site was made in error and is not indicative of future plans. Please refer to the Pokémon Direct for more game details.

Battleborn Receives Substantial Free Trial

Battleborn Receives Substantial Free Trial

Gearbox Software MOBA/First-person shooter hybrid has received a free trial a little over a year after the game first released. Late last years there were rumors that Gearbox was prepping a free-to-play version of the game but CEO Randy Pitchford shot that down pretty quickly.

The trial doesn't make the game completely make it free-to-play due to the limited roster but it's pretty close. Gearbox says that "Players can now pick up Battleborn as a free downloadable experience that grants UNLIMITED access to all competitive multiplayer gameplay modes and maps, without any time limits or level caps. To keep things fresh, there is a weekly rotation of six heroes from the roster of 30 total heroes. Progress with each hero and player account progression is also permanent, so when the same character comes back around players can pick them up where they left off."

You can watch a trailer for the mode here:
