Dota 2's International Tournament Sets New Esports Record

The seventh annual International Dota 2 Championship has already surpassed last year's record-breaking esports prize pot of $20,770,460. Teams are being continuously added to the Battle Pass compendium, meaning that the pot will continue to grow for the next few weeks. The prize pool tends to surge whenever one of the Immortal Treasures is released, and with one more treasure to go, we can expect another spike in the prize pool in the next few weeks.

The tournament, hosted by Valve, will take place once again in Seattle's KeyArena this year and runs from August 7-12.

Check out more about this year's International here, and get up to date with the compendium here.

Save Big On Popular Franchises In The Humble Capcom Rising Bundle

There's a new Humble Bundle, and it's bringing over $200 in savings on some popular Capcom franchises.

As always, there are three different donation tiers. Paying over $1 will get you the fantastic DmC: Devil May Cry and Strider (along with the not-so-fantastic Umbrella Corps). If you surpass the average donation (which is around $7.25 at the time of this writing) you'll get Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Resident Evil 6, the Deluxe Upgrade for Umbrella Corps, and the remasters of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0. Beating the average also gets you 40 percent off Resident Evil 7, 50 percent off Dead Rising 4, and 50 percent off Street Fighter V. If you pay $12 or more, you'll also get Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition

The featured charity this month is WaterAid America. You can head here to support them, or another charity of your choice, and take part in the savings.

Deck13 Announces Free Demo For Action RPG The Surge

Deck13 Interactive, the developer behind Lords of the Fallen, has announced it is releasing a free demo for its action-RPG The Surge.

The Surge takes place on a declining Earth where society is struggling to survive. Fitted with an exo-suit, you are left to fight your way through the dystopian future with tight, fluid combat mechanics. The game offers several weapon classes and revolves around a currency system reminiscent of the Souls games, a similarity Deck13 has made a name in emulating.

The demo is available starting next week on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The full game is currently available for purchase on each platform.

Valve Working On Revamping Steam Recommendation System

Valve is working on another overhaul of its game recommendation system, the company announced this week at a presentation at Unite Europe (a conference centered around the Unity game engine).

As Gamasutra reports, the company wants to change how it recommends games to its players. The overhaul would be focused on being able to "give customers the tools they need to be able to customize and personalize their store," said Valve's Alden Kroll.

Rather than have players sift through several titles at a given time and give a simple "yes," "no," or "add to wishlist" response, players will now be able to choose which games they personally enjoy.

What Remains Of Edith Finch Coming To Xbox One Next Week

Xbox One owners will soon have the chance to experience a unique and compelling journey that was previously reserved for PS4 and PC gamers. Publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced that What Remains of Edith Finch is coming to Microsoft's console on July 19.

If you haven't played the game yet, you don't want us spoiling anything for you. However, we can say that What Remains of Edith Finch is the latest title from developer Giant Sparrow, the studio behind The Unfinished Swan. If you enjoyed that game – or other titles in this emerging genre like Gone Home and Firewatch – then you will probably be interested in this one, which is structured as a series of clever short stories about a cursed family.

Trainers Can Unite During Global Pokémon Go Fest Event

Trainers Can Unite During Global Pokémon Go Fest Event

Odds are, you aren't going to Pokémon Go Fest later this month in Chicago. Even if you live in the area or could have traveled that way, tickets sold out in about 30 minutes. All is not lost, however. Niantic and The Pokémon Company have revealed information about how everyone will be able to work together during the July 22 event to unlock special bonuses.

Trainers who were fortunate enough to make it to Chicago that day will face three different timed challenges, where they have to collect certain types of Pokémon. If they manage to catch enough during those windows, they can unlock perks for players globally. During those periods, players who aren't in Chicago can extend the length of those unlocked bonuses by catching their own Pokémon during those times. And if players worldwide can catch enough monsters, another secret challenge will be unveiled in Chicago, which could unlock "an extra-special bonus across the globe," according to Niantic and The Pokémon Company.

Additional events are coming to Europe on August 5, August 12, and September 16, though they don't appear to have a similar global incentive.
