Super Meat Boy Forever Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Next Year

The long in-development, sort-of Super Meat Boy sequel lead off Nintendo's Nindie direct showcasing a new motivation for Meat Boy to take on Dr. Fetus again: the kidnapping of his and Bandage Girl's child, Nugget.

In the footage shown from the game, Meat Boy can now punch while doing his familiar platforming, allowing him to defeat enemies and even get a little distance on his jumps. The levels will also get harder each time you replay them. We learned about a game called Super Meat Boy Forever as early as 2014 when Tommy Refenes (one half of developer Team Meat) showed a Meat Boy auto-runner at PAX. That game appears to have evolved in the intervening years. You read about that version of Super Meat Boy Forever here.

Forever isn't a Switch-exclusive, but will be coming to the platform in 2018.

Big Changes To Overwatch's Junkrat, Widowmaker, And More

As part of a patch that went live yesterday for Blizzard's Overwatch, some characters had some fairly significant changes made to their kits, Junkrat can now hold two mines, and his speeding tire of death is now 30% faster! Widowmaker's grappling hook gets some serious cooldown reduction, going from 12 second to 8 seconds. Roadhog's self-heal can now be used while moving, but the heal has been reduced.

This patch also added Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes.

Check out all of the new changes in the patch notes here.

The PC Version Of Sonic Mania Cannot Currently Be Played Offline

The PC Version Of Sonic Mania Cannot Currently Be Played Offline

Sonic Mania launched last week to glowing reviews. Our own Brian Shea said that Mania is "a return to the series' roots in every sense, Sonic Mania is a joyful reminder why the franchise became such a hit in the first place."  The game launched on PC today. Unfortunately, it also launchd with the controversial copy-protection system Denuvo, meaning that it cannot be played offline.

Ars Technica editor Sam Machkovech made the discovery when he tried to play the game offline and was greeted with a message telling him he could not play if he wasn't logged into Steam online. As Machkovech notes, Sega is aware of the issue and is working on it, so hopefully there will be a fix soon.

For now, if you don't have access to a consistent online connection it might be best to hold off on grabbing a PC copy of Sonic Mania.

Here's How To See Link Without The Cartoon Shader In Breath Of The Wild

Here's How To See Link Without The Cartoon Shader In Breath Of The Wild

One of Breath Of The Wild's best qualities is its beautiful, animated cartoon shader that makes Hyrule and everyone in it look like a moving painting. However, naturally some players have gotten curious what Link and company might look without that cartoonish quality.

Well, now we have an answer thanks to the efforts of Reddit sleuth Rangers_Of_The_North who found a place on the bridge over Lake Hylia where a graphical glitch will let you view Link without the shaders:

While on the hunt for korok seeds on my master mode run, I discovered a strange glitch on the bridge over Lake Hylia. On the left side of the gate there is a broken concave section that I rested at. While zooming in to get a better look, I saw that Link's look has completely changed! He looks like a doll, he has a shine to him and the shadows on his body became realistic. Other things changed too, fire enchanted weapons, bombs, even Fierce Deity armor have altered looks. The lighting effects of fairies have an awesome glow to them too!

A Word Of Caution Concerning The Rock Of Ages 2 Bundle On PSN

Rock of Ages 2 was just released today. We don't have a review up but dug the first one way back when it was originally released.

The PlayStation store is selling a bundle containing both Rock Of Ages and Rock of Ages 2 for $19.99. However, there's nowhere on the store page that informs you of something essential: there is no PS4 version of the original Rock of Ages despite it implying you can play both on PS4:

Some customers have found themselves buying a bundle that includes a game they can't even play and there's nowhere on the page that makes the need for a PS3 clear. Yikes.
