Destiny 2's First Raid Has A Surprisingly Reasonable Power Range

It seems exceedingly unlikely that Destiny 2 players are reading this because they're playing Destiny 2, but in the off-chance some are, director Luke Smith has confirmed that the first Raid will have a Power range of 260-280.

The initial spitballing from Bungie on the subject of Power had been somewhere between 280-300, so the lower range means players at 280 Power will have the ideal Power for the Raid.

The Raid launches on Wednesday, September 13, so players have about one day from the writing of this post to get in gear for the big event.

J.J. Abrams Returns To Write And Direct Star Wars: Episode IX

J.J. Abrams Returns To Write And Direct Star Wars: Episode IX

Lucasfilm's plan to have different writers and directors attached to each of its numbered Star Wars sequels didn't go according to plan. J.J. Abrams is replacing Colin Trevorrow as the director and co-writer of Star Wars: Episode IX, slated to release on May 24, 2019. Abrams was the guiding voice that helped reboot the Star Wars franchise with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.

Abrams is joined by writer Chris Terrio, who wrote the screenplays for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Argo. Fans hoped Rian Johnson would extend his stay at Lucasfilm after finishing up Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but getting Abrams to come back is even better news at this point, as we know what kind of Star Wars movie he will make, whereas Johnson is still an unknown (albeit talented) quantity in this beloved universe.

Production of Episode IX was originally slated to begin in February 2018, but with Trevorrow leaving that timeline may be moved back to give Abrams and Terrio time to dream up the final chapter of Rey and Kylo Ren's story.

Update: PewDiePie Issues Apology For Uttering Racial Slur During PUBG Stream

Update (09/12/17 at 9:57 a.m.): Kjellberg has released an apology video for saying a racial slur during a PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds stream. In the video, he says:

It was something that I said in the heat of the moment. I said the worst word I could possibly think of, and it just sort of slipped out. I’m not going to make any excuses for why it did, because there are no excuses for it. I’m disappointed in myself, because it seems like I’ve learned nothing from all these past controversies. And it’s not that I think I can say or do whatever I want and get away with it. I’m just an idiot. But that doesn’t make what I said, or how I said it, OK.

You Can Now Play Super Mario 64 Online For Some Reason

In what might be the culmination of what is thought to be the most foundational 3D game ever released, fangame creators have made Super Mario 64 playable online with 24 characters.

The weird, Lovecraftian mess that is 24 player online Mario 64 has no real goals, per se, so players make their own fun. The trailer below shows players playing hide-and-seek in Boo's Haunted Mansion, one of the few places in the game that employs some fixed camera angles.

Players can always just finish the level, as well. Getting eight red coins should be a breeze with 24 people searching.independently of them.

Patty Jenkins Back To Direct Wonder Woman Sequel

The latest Wonder Woman film won lots of fanfare and praise from critics, becoming a force at the box office this summer, grossing over $402 million domestically and reaching the $800 million mark worldwide. It's no surprise that Warner Bros. would want to keep the director who helped make it all happen: Patty Jenkins. Jenkins has voiced that she's proud of the film and would love to come back for Wonder Woman 2. Today, it's official she'll be returning for the sequel. She will also help co-write and produce it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, contract negotiations were "lengthy" and "challenging," but its sources say Jenkins is receiving writing and directing fees somewhere in the $7 to $9 million range, with a considerable backend attached. This deal makes Jenkins the highest-paid female director to date, and is a far cry from the $1 million she made for her efforts on the first movie. This certainly marks a brighter future for female directors and woman-led superhero movies.

Wonder Woman 2 is set for a December 13, 2019 premiere. Gal Gadot is also signed on to reprise her role as Wonder Woman.
