E3 Rivals – Uncharted 4 Vs. Rise Of The Tomb Raider

about X hours ago from

With extensive gameplay demos at both Sony's and Microsoft's press conferences, it's only natural to make comparisons between Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Each game showed quite a bit more to attendees of E3 with private demos as well. Game Informer's Jeff Cork and Matthew Kato got a chance to check out one of these action-adventure games and were eager to compare their experiences. You can read more about the behind-closed-doors demos by reading Jeff Cork's Tomb Raider preview or Matthew Kato's impressions of Uncharted 4.

Watch the video below to learn more about which game had a more impressive showing at E3 2015.

Hands-on With No Man's Sky's Unlimited Universe

Hands-on With No Man's Sky's Unlimited Universe

No Man’s Sky has both intrigued and perplexed players since it was announced two years ago at the 2013 VGX awards. It offers a breathtaking scale – budding space explorers can land on more than 18 quintillion planets in a universe – as well as a chance to discover unique flora and fauna. It’s all procedurally generated, so even the developers at Hello Games don’t know what they’ll see on any given planet. The big question for many, however, is how the game works. It’s a question that we got most of the answers for in our January 2015 cover. At this year’s E3, editors Jeff Cork and I got hands on with the game to clear up any lingering doubts. Here are our impressions.

The Five Best Pets Of E3 2015

about X hours ago from

If you've been watching coverage of this week's big show, then you can't help but have noticed how many friendly pets are joining our heroes and heroines this year. We've pulled together our favorite four-legged friends from E3 2015 and ranked them, along with links to learn more about the games in which they appear. Enjoy!

Trials Fusion: Awesome Level Max seems to be going the Blood Dragon route, with a ridiculous switch-up allowing players to control a cat who rides a tattooed unicorn through insane obstacle courses. While we’re all for the chance to ride unicorns, we think Ubisoft made the right decision by allowing that unicorn to snort fire. That’s just common sense. Watch the trailer

Normally, Yoshi is the steadfast mount to Mario, but when Yoshi needs a ride, he turns to Poochy. The slobbering yarn dog will bark when important items are around, and that’s on top of his adorable, friendly smile. Explore our preview of Yoshi’s Woolly World to learn more about Yoshi and Poochy’s adventure.

Forget Assassin’s Creed Hitman Is The Real Assassin Of E3 2015

Forget Assassin’s Creed Hitman Is The Real Assassin Of E3 2015

With Hitman: Absolution, Io-Interactive hit on a winning formula in creating a series of small sandboxes for players to explore, sneak through and MacGyver their way to assassinate their target. For Io-Interactive’s first Hitman game on the newest batch of consoles, the studio is sticking to this formula, but now the sandboxes are bigger and more detailed than ever before.

Our E3 demo starts off with Agent 47 arriving at Paris fashion show. MI6 has asked for Agent 47’s helped after a man named Viktor Novikov gained access to a list of their covert operatives. An underground auction is taking place in the rooms above this fashion show and Agent 47 needs to sneak into that meeting, assassinate Novikov as well as his boss, and then disappear before any terrorist organizations can get their hands on MI6’s list of operatives.

Five Thoughts About Some Of The Additions To FIFA 16

about X hours ago from

The FIFA series has been on a tear in the last few years, and we got hands on FIFA 16 and gauge some of the new features that stand out in our experience.

There are other improvements and additions to FIFA 16, but in my limited time playing a few games, here are some of things that I noticed.

Replay – Chibi-Robo!

Replay – Chibi-Robo!

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Chibi-Robo. I've championed it for a Super Replay for years now, to no avail. Fortunately, Nintendo gave us a reason to play the game on the clock – even if only for a single Replay episode.

A few weeks back, the company revealed it was bringing the helpful robot back in a platform-focused 3DS game. The game and its accompanying Amiibo are thankfully coming to North America, making it the perfect opportunity to unseal our vault copy and start cleaning up. Tim is on the sticks, and Kyle and I provide helpful and enthusiastic commentary. Reiner is there, too, but he's a huge bummer who doesn't like to have fun.

Stay tuned for our Roulette, where we crack open another game. It's not quite as good as Chibi-Robo. At all.

E3 Press Conferences In Under Two Minutes

We offered up some comprehensive coverage of E3’s big conferences earlier this week, including complete commentary and post-show analysis. But if you don’t have time for well over a dozen hours of viewing, we’ve cut each press conference down to its most important announcements, and included each below. Enjoy!

The Top Ten Most Promising New Characters of E3

about X hours ago from

E3 always introduces plenty of new and exciting characters, and this particular year saw a surprising number of female protagonists as well as a small uptick in non-human characters like robots and yarn balls. While we don't know a lot of detail yet about most of these characters, these are the new faces that caught our eye, and have us excited about a rising batch of heroes and heroines.

Neither JD nor his partner Emily seem all that interesting, but at the very least JD lacks the over-the-top machismo present in previous Gears of War games. By calling JD normal instead of labeling him a meathead, we have arrived at a significant upgrade on typical Gears of War characterization.

We know next to nothing about Amy Ferrier, the heroine of developer Fullbright's upcoming first person exploration game. However, Fullbright already proved their storytelling prowess in their critically acclaimed first title Gone Home. As a result, Ferrier deserves the benefit of the doubt.

The Coolest Screenshots Of E3 2015

about X hours ago from

Game companies take advantage of E3 each year to show off how great their games are looking, and every year we’re astounded by the advances in technology and art that help the exhibited titles to look even better than the year before. We’ve picked out some of our favorite screenshots that have been revealed over the last week, and why they have us pumped about the coming year of games.

Anyone who has ever cared for an animal knows the special bond that can form between creature and human. This screenshot speaks to the potential emotional depth of The Last Guardian, as the massive creature seems to bow its head in deference to the much smaller boy. We can’t wait to see more of this long-awaited project, especially after we witnessed this extended demo.

The Taken King is on the way in September as Destiny’s biggest expansion to date, and it brings with it new subclasses for all three classes. For pure cool factor, it’s hard to beat this look at a warlock going full Sith Lord on his unfortunate Crucible opponent. Learn more about the expansion in Bungie’s recent vidoc, and check out additional screens.
