Press Buttons, Change Sizes in Co-Op Puzzle Platformer Shift Happens

Here's the pitch: you're an ambulatory mound of jelly, see, and your partner is also an ambulatory mound of jelly. You can both change sizes, but whenever one character changes mass, he adds/removes mass from the other. Sounds like boring science stuff, but really it's Shift Happens, a couch co-op puzzle platformer just released on Steam Early Access by Klonk Games. The little jelly tubs Bismo and Plom can do what most puzzle platform stars can do, including jumping, grabbing things, and shoving blocks around. The twist in Shift Happens is that size matters, meaning the big dude has to push the big blocks around while smalls squeezes into tiny spaces and makes the long leaps. Characters can toss each other around, too, and certain switches require more weight to activate. Swap sizes back and forth as you work both characters towards the exit. If Bismo or Plom dies the other can resurrect them, just make sure one character is safe and you'll stay in the game.

Halo 5: Guardians - Campaign Mission 2 Video Playthrough

about X hours ago from

We're putting Halo 5: Guardians through its paces for our co-op review, which will go live in just about a week right before the game releases. Microsoft has allowed reviewers to stream gameplay footage from four missions in the game. While not exactly spoiler-y, if you want a pure experience, you'll likely want to avoid these. That said we took a look at the game's second mission late last week. It showcases Master Chief's squad and some of the co-op tactics on display. It really shows off the change in level design, adding a lot of verticality to the missions. It also shows just how basdass the spartans are when you put them together in a team. Tonight at 9PM EST we'll be looking at the game's 8th mission - Sword of Sanghelios. It's one of the best looking missions in the game. Be sure to tune in to find out what's bigger than a Scarab.

Let's Play Sword Coast Legends with Developer n-Space

about X hours ago from

Sword Coast Legends is out in just a few days on PC, the D&D based game is a classic RPG in every sense. But there's something Sword Coast Legends offers that we haven't seen to this level before, and that's the ability to have a live DM play alongside a party of four players. The DM is capable of adjusting just about anything in the world, telling a carefully crafted story to the players of their choosing and asking players to roll to decide certain in game events. Player driven content is going to be a huge piece of Sword Coast Legends alongside it's meaty single player campaign making this one of the largest games content-wise we've likely ever seen. Last week we jumped into a custom campaign written by n-Space Community Manager Ash Sevilla. You can see the outcome of that below in our stream re-cap.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Master Of Chiefs Edition

Hello, hello!  The vice grip of traveling and responsibilities has tightened for some of us this weekend, but nevertheless, the Co-Opticrew soldiers on.  Look, I'll be honest with you.  The Crew has some fairly dope stuff lined up.  We've got indie RPGs in some places and a steady stream of both tabletop and mobile games in others, but I believe The Good Sir Puleo will be taking home the winners trophy as far as bombin' weekends go.See for yourself!

New Screens of Dark Souls 3

New Screens of Dark Souls 3

While the time period where you could submit your application to be part of the Dark Souls 3 network stress test this weekend has come and gone, you can still get your Souls fix with these new screens showing off some of the multiplayer pieces of the game.So far, all the usual hallmarks of a Souls game can be found in these screens. There are white phantoms, messages that other players have left behind to help (though, the message is actually useful and doesn't just say "try tonguing hole"), and bloodstains marking off where other players have died. The one screen that shows the message gave me momentary pause to be sure I was still looking at Dark Souls 3 screens and not screens for Bloodborne as the systems look very similar now.No firm release date yet for the title, but you can look forward to praising the sun and enjoying jolly cooperation next April.

BROFORCE Out Now, Watch The Co-Opticrew Take It On Tonight

about X hours ago from

As resident co-op sage, Jason Love, so wisely predicted, BROFORCE is indeed out today on PC for your adrenaline-fueled pleasure.  For a while there, fans couldn't be faulted for feeling that it would be stuck in the quagmire of Early Access for all eternity, but G'newell (the dark prince of Early Access) has found his quarry escaped, and the game has finally emerged from his dominion.BROFORCE's four player co-op gives you and your crew the chance to blast through the game's henchman-ridden levels as one of a number of action hero facsimiles, such as The Brominator, Bro Max, or Time Bro.  It's... kind of astounding how many ways Free Lives Games has managed to shove the word "bro" into people's names. The PC launch trailer is below, with the developers noting an early 2016 release window for the game's PlayStation 4 version.

Indie-Ana Co-Op and the Dev Stories - Sky Rogue

There was a particular genre of games, a rather niche genre, that existed in my gaming youth. It could best be described as "action flight simulator" and while it hasn't carried forward into today's gaming market as readily as the 'shmups and platformers, many of its ideas and mechanics can be found in modern flight sims. Kenneth Backus, the one-man development team behind Sky Rogue, shares with us his history with this particular genre and how he's bringing it back.
