New Shadowrun Chronicles Content Receives Halloween Patch

New Shadowrun Chronicles Content Receives Halloween Patch

A few weeks back, Shadowrun Chronicles, the MMO-style Shadowrun game we checked out sometime back, received some new content just in time for Halloween: "Infected." The new add-on included more guns, skills, missions, and enemies as you searched for a cure to a deadly virus affecting the citizens of Boston. It's arrival, however, was not without a couple of hiccups.New content usually means something already in the game breaks, though it wasn't too bad this time around. A few text fixes, a couple small tweaks to odd behavior in the new missions, and ensuring skills are properly applying their effects were the biggest standouts in the patch notes. The biggest part of this update was to add a few Halloween treats for everyone, namely a new appropriately themed pet and a free re-skill.It's been sometime since I've checked out SC. Are folks out there in co-op land still playing it? Is it worth checking out again?

Alienation's Co-Op Play in Action

about X hours ago from

Developer Housemarque recently posted some more information on their website about the forthcoming title, Alienation, as well as the trailer that was shown during Paris Games Week. Co-Op is the focus this time around in addition to some discussion about the loot system. One of the better features of their previous twin-stick shooter, Dead Nation, was the co-op gameplay. From their blog post, it sounds like that will be an even bigger component of this title:With Alienation, not only we’re doubling down on tech, enemy numbers and destruction, but we’re also focusing our efforts on two more things: online co-op and loot. While the campaign is perfectly playable in single player, Alienation is built with collaboration in mind... Up to four players can take control of one of the three classes available (Bio-Specialist, Exoskeleton and Saboteur), and combo their powers to make sure the Xenos get their fair share of lead.

How to Survive 2 Early Access Co-Op Stream

about X hours ago from

Last night's co-op stream we took a look at How to Survive 2, a game that just hit early access last week on Steam. The new game supports four player online co-op, but also 16 player persistent communities where folks can work together towards surviving. The game clearly has a ways to go, as actually getting a co-op game started is a bit tricky. You'll need to bring up the communities menu and then allow certain friends into a community. Once that is done they'll be able to see your game in a list of available games. Here's the stream recap with lots of good information in 3 player co-op.

Dawn Of War II: Retribution Just Got Bloodier Thanks To A Surprise DLC Pack

about X hours ago from

Halloween may be over, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy watching Space Marines get drenched in blood as though they're heavily armored versions of Carrie White.  Thanks to the new "Ridiculously Bloody Blood Pack", Dawn of War II: Retribution will make every shotgun blast, every Tyranid bite, and every psyker strike that much gorier, and all for the low, low price of $1.99.  Just think, for the price of a cup of coffee, you could watch your digital warriors cover themselves in the inner workings of their friends and comrades.  Touching.Never mind the fact that Retribution is about four and a half years old, and never mind the fact that adding gore to a Warhammer game seems mildly superfluous.  This new DLC gives those who delight in the visual chaos of combat another reason to dive back into the game's many co-op campaigns.  We thought Retribution was pretty rad, so any excuse to cooperatively guide a few hardened squads through battle (including the wave-based Last Stand mode) is plenty. Thanks in part to the newfound ease of selling and patching classic games, we've been seeing a number of older titles receive new content or fixes.  While this specific case isn't exactly a huge change, it's nice to see Relic Entertainment show their game and its community some much-deserved love.

Ye Newe Knight Squad Gameplaye Trailer

about X hours ago from

As November 16th creeps ever so nearer, we anticipate the release of Knight Squad on Xbox One in the full knowledge that Xbox Live Gold members will get it for $0.  At this low, low price, the game is surely worth a look, but why not find out for yourself with the new gameplay trailer.Game footage videos have somewhat of a poor reputation as they often have more massive infographics and CGI than actual gameplay, but not Knight Squad.  This is two minutes of pure in game action that highlights some of the game modes; Juggernaut, Soccer, Capture The Flag, Crystal Rush and Gladiator.  There is also plenty of, up to, eight  player co-operative fighting:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Launch Trailer Features Kevin...and Kara

about X hours ago from

Call of Duty back once again for its annual release, and this year's launch trailer focuses on the player instead of the story. The story for this trailer revolves around "Kevin." Representitive of every player in the game who, given the right tools, can accomplish the impossible. At least, at some esoteric level, that's what I think is being said about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.This year's game features full four player co-op gameplay throughout the campaign plus a co-op zombie mode. It's the most feature rich CoD in terms of co-op play in quite a long time. It hits on November 4th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game only focus on the multiplayer - no campaign is included.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Spooky Scary Edition

Our Weekend In Gaming: Spooky Scary Edition

Hello, my fellow co-op devotees!  I, your faithful host, am here to guide you through an all new spooky edition of Weekend in Gaming.  If you think about it, I'm sorta like the Crypt Keeper, except my tales are way more mundane and have like 100% happier endings.  So... not at all like the Crypt Keeper. The crew is rather scattered in their weekend plans this time around, but two common threads run throughout: Halo and rats.  Deadly, vicious rats.  We just can't seem to turn our heads away from the destruction of the Warhammer universe via humanoid cheese-obsessives.  With any luck, our combined efforts will at least ensure the safety of the Red Moon Inn.  Maybe we can just hole up in there and wait for all of this to blow over.Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "The wife is running in the NYC Marathon, so little time for gaming. I hope to squeeze in a few matches of Halo 5 multiplayer though."

F.A.L.C.O. Revisits Trine in Episode 11

about X hours ago from

The F.A.L.C.O. crew had so much fun playing Trine 2 that we decided to go back and play the original Trine. While the two games are very similar, we probably should have played them in order since we found the controls were a bit more clunky and the "skill trees" were more like "skill twigs." There aren't many options! Nonetheless, we ran through Academy Hallways and Wolvercote Catacombs, and had a jolly old time.Trine definitely stands out as a game that does co-op right. Each character is unique and useful in different ways. Pair that with absolutely gorgeous visuals, and it's hard not to like this series. Watch us take on a couple levels in the video below. Our schedules have been a bit chaotic lately but we will be back tonight! We'll be playing Dead Island: Riptide because it's nearly Halloween and zombies are scary! That is, until I construct an electrified sledgehammer and start bashing some zombie skulls into the ground! Catch us at 8PM CDT on our Twitch channel.

Talking The Alienware Steam Machine and Halo 5 with Gamertag Radio

Talking The Alienware Steam Machine and Halo 5 with Gamertag Radio

On Monday night I was invited to be a guest on the Gamertag Radio podcast, a truly excellent podcast that has over 500 episodes and 10 years of experience covering gaming culture. Both GTR and Co-Optimus are part of a special group of sites picked to look at Alienware's upcoming Steam Machine which launches on November 10th.During the episode I chat with Danny about the "console" from a different perspectives - myself the veteran PC gamer while he is looking at the machine more from the console aspect. Before we hit up the Steam Machine though Danny, Parris and I talk about Halo 5: Guardians and our impressions of the story, co-op and multiplayer. You may have seen Danny (Godfree) guesting on our co-op stream before release. And that my friends, is co-op.

Warface Rolls Out Spooky New Cyber Horde Mode For Halloween

about X hours ago from

Everybody's got their favorite Halloween monstrosity. The undead (zombies, ghosts, mummies) are always popular, while the living, breathing beasts (your wolfmans, fish-persons, the Jersey Devil) have to spread what meager love they get between them. There is one particularly nasty abomination we don't hear a lot about, even in the new digital age: cyborg monstrosities. Warface is finally entrenching them as a Halloween staple with their new co-op mode, "Cyber Horde."Check out the trailer.Nothing screams "trick or treat" like the torso and head of a mostly insane person trapped in a military-grade death machine.
