Sword Coast Legends, released back in October, is an attempt by developers Digital Extremes and n-Space to hearken back to the days of yore. A time when CRPGs were (sort of) turn-based, loot littered the ground like candy wrappers on a street after Halloween, and just about any Tom, Dick, and Harry could claim their right to be heroes of legend.Starting last Thursday, the roles of Tom, Dick, and Harry were assumed by a... trio of, well, let's just say that to call them anything beside "horrors from the ethereal realms of the old gods" is pretty kind. Taylor, myself, and Matt (a.k.a RaynerRules, for those hanging out in the Shrimpers Forever chat) decided to guide the unlikely grouping of Grendy Smarphtickle, Juice Boy, and Heckers through the dangers of the Sword Coast. The degree of success is up to debate. We've had a blast with the game thus far, and we sure hope you'll join us for the next session! Aside from "a Thursday between now and The Great Robot Uprising", the specifics of when that will be are up in the air. Be sure to check on Co-optimus' Twitter account for the details.
Nice name, right? Fermenter Games' Neighborhorde is a four player couch co-op twin stick shoot-em-up that aims to bring a little levity into the horde-vanquishing shmup genre. It does this with colorful 3D visuals, crayon drawings of freaky monsters, and hair dryer weapons that shoot flames. In the world of Neighborhorde, you and your friends play way too many video games. Mom made you all go outside before your eyes rotted out of your skull. Too bad she there are more dangers out there than on the TV screen. Evil robots, dragons, wizards, and zombie Abe Lincoln burst out of trans-dimensional portals and start attacking everyone. You've got a wooden sword and some leftover bottlerockets from the 4th of July, so let's do this!Neighborhorde is inspired by the likes of Calvin and Hobbes and Ed Edd & Eddy. You know, if they fought zombie Abe Lincoln. It supports four local players and even has a single player mode in case your mom grounds you for not cleaning your room. The full release is scheduled for 2016, but you can check it out on Steam Greenlight now, if you wanna.
The "Old Hunters" DLC arrives next Tuesday, November 24, for everyone's favorite action RPG, Bloodborne. If you've been looking forward to this new content and eagerly awaiting any news about the new weapons, then allow us to highlight for you the bowblade. Yep. It's a blade that turns into a bow.The weapon was shown off in a recent stream done by Sony via Nico Nico. The footage below was captured by DualShockers. While all the dialogue is in Japanese, you do get to see the bowblade in action against some enemies in a new area that culminates in a battle against that nightmare fuel-ish boss seen in various screens floating about the interwebs. So, if you want to avoid any kind of spoilers with that, I recommend you stop watching at the 4:00 mark.In anticipation of the DLC's impending release, a free update that adds the previously discussed new co-op covenant should arrive this weekend for all players.
Studio Wildcard continues to add to the impressive array of creatures that can be found in ARK: Survival Evolved. This time, two new creatures have been given the added: the Kairuku and Angler. The Kairuku Waitaki is a type of penguin. Due to their docile nature and adorable appearance, they make for some popular pets. If you're more of a pragmatist and the cute-factor simply isn't enough, they have an added benefit. They can keep survivors that are standing close to them warm, due to their very high body temperature. Their blubber can also be used for manufacturing processes. But if you do this, who's the real monster?! (On an unrelated note, the baby Kairuku are the most blubber-rich.)The Melanocetus Angler likewise has both pet benefits and crafting uses. Tamed, it can act as an underwater fish flashlight for survivors. A survivor who harvests its luminescent nodules can use them to create long-lasting fuel and indoor lighting. You can see both of the creatures in the video below:
A new update for Destiny arrived this week that fixed a few things, added all of the legendary swords to Lord Shaxx's inventory for purchase, and added weapon parts to the Gunsmith's stock for purchase. In addition, keen-eyed players noticed a few new items showing up in those big iPad terminals that are linked to the new "refer-a-friend" feature Bungie mentioned (briefly) in a recent post. The new items spotted thus far are a new shader, a new emblem, a couple new emotes, and a sparrow that is actually pretty cool looking. All of these appear to be rewards from a quest titled "A Tale of Two Guardians," which is tied directly to the refer-a-friend program. YouTuber Arrekz Gaming does a quick highlight of all these items in his recent video post.Rewards aside, no details yet on how all of this will work. If you've already referred friends to the game and they're now playing, are you just SOL on this one? Or maybe your real friends will be found inside specially marked cans of Red Bull...
New alpha, fewer bugs, better visuals. That just about sums up the latest update to the co-op puzzle adventure game BFF or Die. Honey Tribe Studios continues to tinker with its tongue in cheek title that focuses on getting players to work together for the greater good. And if they don't? Well, the title pretty much answers that question.BFF or Die puts up to four local players in control of time traveling aliens lost on Earth in ancient Egyptian times. They're trapped in dark dungeons, you see, and in order to escape, they have to work together. While some players start getting through the mazes, for example, others will provide light or distract enemies. If someone doesn't pull their weight, nobody's getting home! The latest update moves the puzzle adventure from Unity 4 to Unity 5, enabling a host of new visual effects. In addition, many textures have been redrawn to form a cleaner, more cohesive visual style. A single player mode has been added alongside 2-4 player local co-op, and the team even hinted at the possibility of online multiplayer in the future.
