Double Dragon II: The Revenge Kicks its Way to PS4

Long before double rainbows were a thing, double dragons were an even bigger thing. The Double Dragon series of sidescrolling arcade beat-em-ups helped popularize the genre with solid co-op kicking and punching action. The effect was even greater when the games made it to consoles. Now, that shift to home systems is repeated some 24 years later with the release of Double Dragon II: The Revenge on PS4.Double Dragon II is seeing a re-release thanks to the Arcade Archives initiative, bringing classic games to modern systems because we're suckers for nostalgia. Two player local co-op is supported, just like in the olden days, allowing you and a friend to jump in and fire off a few sosetsukens to clear the streets of baddies. Double Dragon II is a classic co-op experience that manages to hold up surprisingly well today. The new release looks to bring that experience to our TVs as faithfully as possible, adding a few extras like screenshot sharing and online leaderboards thanks to the PlayStation 4's non-old-school specs. PlayStation.Blog spoke with the game's original director Yoshihisa Kishimoto about the release, the inspiration for the series, and a teaser about the future of the franchise.

All New Disney Pixar Costumes in LittleBigPlanet 3

You want moar costumez? We got your costumes right here! Sorry, got a little angry there. It's ok, though, because now I'm feeling happy. Hey, that's just like the emotions from that new movie Inside Out! Nice coincidence, seeing as how Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust costumes are now available for LittleBigPlanet 3!But wait, there's more! If you've seen the movie you know that red guy above is named Bing Bong. Yes, like a doorbell. Or like a search engine, I suppose. The ultra-fashionable Sackboy and Sackgirl get a hip Bing Bong costume as part of the Inside Out costume pack, too! And because dressing up is more entertaining when you're a beast, new wardrobe packs featuring characters from Monsters, Inc. and The Good Dinosaur have also been released. All costumes are available to purchase individually, or you can save yourself the trouble and grab full packs on the cheap. Either way, LBP 3 will continue to look phenomenal as you run around collecting stickers with your co-op friends.

Grim Dawn Now Officially Released

This past Thursday, Grim Dawn came out of Early Access and moved into official launch status. Crate Entertainment, formed from previous members of Iron Lore (the folks behind Titan Quest), has been working on this ambitious ARPG for six years, and now it's finally released. In addition to thanking their early supporter community, Crate Entertainment has also revealed that there's big plans for Grim Dawn's future as well. In addition to standard updates, a ton of new features are also in the works, such as modding tools, Survival Mode, and an expansion. After chatting to Crate Entertainment Founder, Arthur Bruno, at PAX East last year, I eagerly played through all the content available at that time. Since then, I've shelved the game, waiting for its full launch. You can bet that I'll be diving back in to experience the complete game as soon as possible.

Classic Hit True Colors Goes Dark in New Dark Souls 3 Trailer

about X hours ago from

After a series of teasers/trailers showing off Lothric and its many denizens, the latest video for Dark Souls 3 decided what was really needed to impart a true sense of foreboding was Cyndi Lauper. Nope, that's not a joke.Let's be honest here; at this point, you already know if you're going to be playing Dark Souls 3 or not. Some new video isn't going to convince you one way or another. I mean, really, Bandai Namco should have just said "eff it, use the original recording" in this video instead of their grim dark version. Although I suppose doing so would have gotten them flagged by YouTube for content and the video would have subsequently been pulled down.Anyways, when you're done watching that, please enjoy a couple (that one is explicit) of these videos of the same trailer with new songs overlaid on top of them, including a very special one by our own Locke Vincent. Makes me smile every time.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Marth 2016

Our Weekend In Gaming: Marth 2016

We're all caucusing for our respective Fire Emblem families this weekend.  Some of us know the truth, that family means more than blood relations, and others are dumb garbage people who would betray the people that raised them at the drop of a hat.I kid, of course.  The Co-Opticrew is entitled to their own choices, however wrong they may be.  Fire Emblem Fates is a cruel mistress, though, so expect us to be lamenting the loss of our favorite characters (or the amount of times we've restarted to save them) for the next couple weeks. Elsewhere, folks are hitting up that hot new Saints Row franchise, trying to survive on harsh alien planets, and continuing with their online cat-girl fantasies.  Sounds like fun, no?Don't forget to check out Eric's F.A.L.C.O. stream tonight!  Beating Monaco is no easy feat, but maybe, through the power of the Twitch chat, we can guide him through these trying times.

Enhanced Version of Insurgency Headed to PC and Consoles

Originally a Source mod, the tactical FPS Insurgency was released for the PC back in 2014. The developer, New World Interactive, is teaming up with publisher Focus Home Interactive to further make some tweaks and adjustments to the title and release it as Insurgency: Sandstorm sometime in 2017 for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.Moving away from Source, the revamped version of the game will be rebuilt using Unreal Engine 4 and will include, in addition to some graphical overhauls, a new story mode that starts during the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and concludes in the present day. The co-op modes and multiplayer modes of the original will return, and the developer is apparently working on building in some form of "eSports framework" into the game.No specific release date or price has been set for the title.

Original Borderlands Included in Xbox Live Games with Gold for March

Four games were just placed on the freebie shelf for Xbox Live Gold members to download this March. There's something about a Sherlock game, some lord that has fallen, and a commander everybody thinks is just sooo supreme. And then there's the original Borderlands, ready to play in all its gory, gunny, co-op multiplayer glory! The way Games with Gold works is simple. If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, you get a selection of free games available to download each month. The window to grab the titles is always limited to a few weeks, but that's plenty of time to hit the download button and start playingFor Borderlands, the freebie time starts March 16 and ends March 31. This is the Xbox 360 version of the game, but thanks to backwards compatibility, Xbox One owners can still play and enjoy. Be sure to invite some friends over for what is arguably the best game in the series. (That's right, I said it!) Local play allows for two players in splitscreen, while online lets you and three others team up for all the funs.
