How VR Could Change Co-Op Gaming Forever

about X hours ago from

Virtual Reality (VR) are two words which are about to have a huge impact in the world of co-op gaming. Tech industry leaders like Facebook, Samsung and Sony are currently tripping over themselves in the rush to become VR global leaders and seize the sizeable market. You may already have tried out a beta version of VR but the latest technology is literally going to transport you to a different world. Devices are as simple as headphones and a visor but the experiences the technology can now produce are astounding. For gamers, VR will lift the experience by uniting them together in parallel worlds. As well as being able to exist in the same virtual space, the new VR will project gamers’ real world images into the very space they occupy. This means that while your friend may be in Japan while you’re in America, you can meet, see and hear one another’s presence in the same space. It’s incredible stuff and the power of co-op VR doesn’t stop there. Let’s take a closer look at a few of the areas where VR and the co-op experience are going to alter how we live and interact forever. Want to play?

New Ghostbusters Game Inspired by New Movie

about X hours ago from

Just a few days prior to the release of the new "Ghostbusters" film, Activision will be releasing a new Ghostbusters video game that draws some inspiration from it. Rather than the third-person shooter affair we saw back in 2009, this title will be a top-down action-RPG.Set just after the events in the movie, the game will put you in the shoes of a new recruit on the team. You can choose the gender and "class" before setting out on the streets of Manhattan to bust some ghosts. From the initial press release we were sent, it sounds like there will be some kind of experience and loot system that will allow you to upgrade and customize your Ghostbuster. The new Ghostbusters game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 12, and all versions will support four player local co-op.

Monaco Has Been Added To The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility List

about X hours ago from

Thieves, brigands, and cut-purses alike have flown a little under the radar on Microsoft's current-gen console.  Sure, you've got your "Big Bosses" and your "Templars" and whatnot, but aside from that, stealth enthusiasts have largely had to dwell in the shadows and console each other with unsuspecting neck snaps.  It wasn't always this way, though.  Once upon a time, a little game called Monaco: What's Yours is Mine tiptoed its way directly into our hearts.Luckily, one of (in our opinion) the greatest stealth games of all time has just made its way from yesteryear's Xbox 360 to the more modern Xbox One via the Backwards Compatibility List.  As of this very moment, you and three friends can enjoy Monaco's stellar four player co-op in both local and online capacities.  Released back in 2013, Monaco made a name for itself with its colorful 2D graphics, tight stealth mechanics, and unique cast of characters.  Personally, I adore the game's reactive, piano-centric soundtrack, which quickly escalates from "moody stealth" to "hilarious capers" based on your ability to avoid discovery.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Prepare To Cry Edition

Our Weekend In Gaming: Prepare To Cry Edition

Well, gang, it's that time of week again.  It's a time filled with potential, hope, and as little work as humanly possible.  Unfortunately, this weekend will also be filled with plenty of cursing and gnashing of teeth, as Dark Souls 3 has just hit the market.  Between all the praising and whatnot, I suspect that the next couple days will play host to countless deaths of both the deserved and undeserved variety.Given current trends, I also suspect that the Co-Opticrew will be entirely tabletop focused by 2018.  Between the meta-CCGs (collectible card games), the RPGs (role-playing games), and the CFGs (Cthulhu fhtagn games), our surfaces of choice will be getting quite the workout. If all goes according to plan (or not), you'll also get a chance to see some hot Sniper Elite 3 action on tonight's F.A.L.C.O. stream.  Here's hoping for lots of high-powered freedom deliveries aimed straight at Nazi testes!

Zombasite Hands-On Preview

Zombasite Hands-On Preview

Despite its action-RPG trappings, Zombasite has more in common with board games like Diplomacy and Dead of Winter than it does with Diablo III. Between keeping your clan alive, managing relationships with your neighbors, and foiling your nemesis’ plans, you’ll have more to do than just “point-and-click.”Your main objective in Zombasite is to survive the fantastical zombie apocalypse by one of four methods. You could opt to crush any and all rival clans (Military), make peace with them (Diplomatic), gather up a large amount of food (Logistics), or solve everyone’s problems (Adventurer). If you achieve any one of these conditions, you “win” and can move on to a new area, keeping all of your followers and wealth. Which you choose is up to you, just keep in mind that the other in-game clans have their own motives and, just like Ghandi in Civilization, may decide to “go nuclear” at any moment.
