Action News Heroes Coming to Xbox One Soon

about X hours ago from

First teased earlier this year, the cooperative twin-stick shooter Action News Heroes should be making its way onto the Xbox One soon. Krewe Studios, the development team behind the title, just released the launch trailer for the game, which means its arrival can't be too far away.Seems like no matter what game we talk about here, the future is always bleak. In the case of Action News Heroes, you're a mercenary that's been hired by a megacorporation, Network X, to take down one of its rivals, Sabre, while Network X's titular news branch films the whole thing. Yeah... kind of dark.Action News Heroes supports two player local co-op. Each player will be able to select one of five mercenaries as you obliterate Sabre, drive up ratings, and earn a bunch of cash.

Indie-Ana Co-Op and the Zombasite Interview

Soldak Entertainment has been making games as an independent studio for the past 12 years. A hallmark of many of the titles they have produced has been the depth in their mechanics, from taking on quests to save a village to managing diplomatic relations all while set within the trappings of an action-RPG. We spoke with lead developer and founder Steven Peeler about their latest game, Zombasite, and how it goes beyond even what they've accomplished thus far.

Log into The Division this Weekend for Phoenix Credits

Last week brought the first big free update to Tom Clancy's The Division, though it was not without its problems. During a Twitch stream yesterday, the developers stated that they are aware of the issues players are facing and are working on ways to make amends. As a way of saying "our bad," developer Massive Entertainment announced that logging into The Division this weekend will net you 150 Phoenix Credits for free. If you're unfamiliar with the currency, this those credits are used at the special gear vendor within the main Base of Operations to purchase high-end gear and blueprints. As you normally earn only 10 credits for completing a daily mission, and most stuff within the store is at least 70 credits, that will go a little way towards getting you closer to having that gear score of 160 that's needed to access the "Falcon Lost" Incursion event. The full "State of the Game" stream can be found on Twitch, for those who may be interested. The exact times/dates for the Phoenix Credits deal weren't revealed during the stream, but the devs said to check the game's Twitter account for the exact details on when that will happen and for how long.

Dark Souls 3 Co-Op Review

The Souls series has had a lot of digital ink spilled over it in these parts. I was the lone fan of Demons' Souls until our good friend Andrew Gaskill came along and penned tens of thousands of words about that game and Dark Souls for us. His enthusiasm snared our editorial community, drawing in our own Locke Vincent and eventually Jason Love joined the fray in Dark Souls 2. The release of a Souls game has become a hotly anticipated event for us, and we always end up pre-planning characters and organizing co-op runs, streams, and the like.

Atari Promises Support for RollerCoaster Tycoon World

RollerCoaster Tycoon World hit Steam Early Access at the end of last month and in the few weeks since, player reaction has not been kind. Multiple reports of game crashes, freezing, lagging, and other issues are all over the game's user reviews section on Steam. Atari says that it is reading them, and that it will be addressing those concerns. In a statement from Atari on the matter, the publisher had this to say concerning the issues:We have spent a considerable amount of time testing the game, but at this point it is inevitable you'll be running into some issues as you build your parks. Trust that with each quirk or glitch you find and report, it means that there will be one fewer in the final version of the game. So yes, in this current build you will still find bugs, balance issues, missing features, frustration points, and maybe some crashes.

F2P Lost Reavers Now in Open Beta on Wii U

about X hours ago from

Last month during a Nintendo Direct, Bandai Namco showed off its new free-to-play title, Lost Reavers, a four player co-op action game that looks like it mixes up the shooting action (and enemies) of recent Resident Evil titles with some kind of heist-y mechanics ala PAYDAY. For the next week, you can check the game out for free as it conducts an open beta test.Lost Reavers pits you and three of your friends against a horde of undead and other foes as you navigate through a dungeon, solve some puzzles, search for a valuable relic, and then bring it back to safety. The player holding the relic will move slower and be limited in what they can do, so the others will have to protect them while they are moving it out. It appears that each of the four playable characters in the game offer a different play style as well, with one controlling similar to an FPS, another being third-person shooter, and yet another utilizing melee combo attacks. The open beta lasts until April 26 and the title will see its full release a couple days later on April 28 on the Nintendo eShop. No word on what microtransactions will be present in the final build.
