Score Rush Extended Arrives on PlayStation 4 This Week

about X hours ago from

When I first started the monthly Indie-Ana Co-Op article, the idea was to focus on the (then) burgeoning indie games market and to sift through the numerous titles in Xbox Live Indie Games. One of those titles was Score Rush, a bullet-hell shmup from Xona Games. Five years later, the game will see a release on the PlayStation 4 this Thursday with a new title, Score Rush Extended.More than just a port, the Extended version of the game carries with it a few tweaks and improvements over its original incarnation. Online leaderboards so you can compete with other groups, trophy support, and audio from the DualShock controller. There's also a new game mode, Dual Play, that lets you control two ships at once. You can even play the mode with up to four friends locally for a crazy eight ship shootfest!Score Rush Extended will be available starting June 2, 2016 on PlayStation 4. The title supports four players locally for all of its game modes.

SpellForce 3 Coming to PC This Year

SpellForce 3 Coming to PC This Year

Longtime PC gamers may recall the SpellForce series. The first game, Order of Dawn, was released in 2004 and the second, Shadow Wars, debuted in 2006. After a long hiatus, SpellForce 3 will see a release sometime later this year. The main conceit of this game (and its predecessors) is combining the macromanagement of an RTS game with the loot and leveling mechanics of an RTS. You will control a hero while at the same time managing resources, directing upgrades, and building support units from your base. There are certainly similarities to draw between it and Blizzard's Warcraft 3. The third entry, though, is trying to change things up a bit by introducing the idea of "sectors." Essentially, each sector is its own independent fiefdom, in a sense, where all upgrades and resources that are researched or gathered will only apply to that sector. This is different from the kind of global approach you normally see in RTS games.Aside from the news that the title will be coming this year and that it will have co-op, not much is known about what that co-op will entail. The game's 30-hour campaign is single-player only, so co-op will happen in its own separate thing. It's likely this will entail some form of co-op comp stomp. As soon as we hear more, we'll be sure to update our database with the pertinent details.

Tabletop Co-Op: Dead of Winter

If you are anything like me, you are approaching the level of burnout with zombie themed games. From board games to video games to comics and TV, zombies are literally everywhere. There are several co-op board games featuring zombies, including three we have already covered in this column: Zombies Keep Out!, Dead Panic, and Zombicide. What does Dead of Winter offer that these other zombie co-ops cannot?

Finn Vignette for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Season Pass

about X hours ago from

The next character vignette video for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit the Internet last week. Everyone's favorite Storm Trooper turned good, Finn, gets his own 30 seconds of fame in the latest teaser for the game. Warner Bros and TTGames also shared plans for the forthcoming DLC, which can all be yours when you buy the Season Pass.Similar to how LEGO Dimensions has split up its various offerings in to "Level," which include a new level and characters to play, and "Character" packs, which only include new characters, the planned content for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be similarly split. Three level packs (Poe's Quest for Survival, First Order Siege of Takodana, and Escape from Starkiller Base) and four character packs (Prequel Trilogy, Freemaker Adventures, Star Wars: Rebels, and The Clones Wars) are slated for release once the game launches next month. Each of these will retail for $2.99 or you can pick up the Season Pass for just $9.99. The Season Pass will also include a special character pack, The Jedi Order.

Neon Chrome Out on Consoles Today

about X hours ago from

The cyberpunk themed, top-down shooter Neon Chrome sees its console debut today. Before diving into the dystopic future that awaits us all, check out the hot tips from Sampo Töyssy, the title's lead designer and distinguished gentlemen we interviewed for the post-mortem, on the PlayStation blog, which should help you bring down the Overseer.Based on my time with the game so far, I definitely agree with points two and three on Sampo's list (unlock upgrades and install enhancements before each run). The game is a little bit different kind of difficulty compared to other twin-stick shooters. Engaging in firefights with a group of enemies is a quick way to get yourself killed. You're usually better off surprising them and picking a couple off before they can even shoot at you, or using the environment to block their fire so you can gain some distance and take on just a couple at a time. Our full co-op review should go up later this week. Neon Chrome supports up to four players locally throughout the campaign, though progress (such as unlocked weapons, enhancements, upgrades) is only saved for the first player.

Battleborn's 27th Playable Character Revealed

about X hours ago from

While the 26th character in Battleborn's roster will go live for everyone tomorrow, the next character, Pendles, has been revealed. This Rogue snake will fall within the "Attacker" class and appears to be more of a "sneak-and-gank" type character.Aside from the character art and a brief blurb, not much else is known about Pendles. He apparently hails from the same planet, Akopos, as Alani and he likes to use kama. Also, assuming you didn't pick up the game's Season Pass, you'll unlock Pendles by spending 47,500 in-game credits, just like Alani. In case you missed it over the weekend, a SHiFT code was released that gives you one free Epic loot box in the game. Simply enter the code below into the SHiFT section (located in the "Extras" menu) and then go check "Gear" in "Command" for your loot box.
