Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel Heading to Nvidia Shield Tablet and TV

Amid the flurry of E3 information, Nvidia dribbled out a quiet bit of news regarding console quality games and its SHIELD ecosystem. By the nebulous date of "coming soon", both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be available for Nvidia Shield TV and Nvidia Shield Tablet, co-op (largely) intact!Eagle eyed readers will know that Pre-Sequel was released for Shield TV earlier this year. The port brought just about everything from the console/PC version to the set top device, complete with moderately limited co-op. Borderlands 2 will get the same treatment, and even though Nvidia didn't specifically say "it'll have co-op", we're assuming that's a given. Bringing both games to the Shield Tablet requires a bit more work, as it packs a little less oomph than its TV-tethered brother. No word on if or how co-op would work on a handheld device, but we're guessing two player local is the best we can hope for.Ages ago, Nvidia promised a thriving array of console quality games for its powerful Shield gaming devices. So far, that promise hasn't really panned out, though bringing Borderlands 2 to an Android tablet is definitely a step in the right direction. Release dates weren't announced for the new ports, but we're definitely keeping a few ears to the ground.

[E3 2016] Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Will Include Co-Op Zombie Mode

about X hours ago from

Activision has announced that the next Call of Duty game, Infinite Warfare, will feature a co-op specific zombie mode. This will be separate from the main campaign, which will be a single-player only affair.Details about this mode are sparse for now. In the press release, all that was mentioned of this mode was "an original cooperative Zombies mode that takes players on a wild ride through a new storyline with unique gameplay features and mechanics." So whether we'll see some of the same mechanics that were seen in the gameplay video shown during E3, or something different altogether, we'll have to wait and see. We're also waiting to hear about the specific number of players supported for this mode. For now, we're using the Zombie modes in previous titles as a benchmark and assuming that Infinite Warfare's mode will support up to four players online. If/when we hear differently, we'll update the database page.

[E3 2016] Next Skylanders Title is Imaginators, Crash Bandicoot Appears

about X hours ago from

The latest entry in the longest running toys-to-life franchise is Skylanders Imaginators. Every title has had "its own thing;" SuperChargers introduced vehicles, Trap Team let you capture enemies, and Swap Force involved mixing-and-matching the figures. With Imaginators, you'll be able to design and play your own Skylander in-game.When you place the new "Creation Crystal" toy onto the new Portal of Power, you'll be taken into a series of character creation menus that let you pick you Skylander's Battle Class (e.g., Knight, Sorcerer, Bowslinger) that affect the character's abilities, its appearance and catchphrases, and its powers. All of this gets saved to the crystal so you can use that creation over and over again. Each crystal is single-use only, however, and is also of a particular element type, i.e., fire, water. So if you want to make a Fire Knight and a Fire Sorcerer, you'll have to buy two Fire-type Creation Crystals.

HAWKEN Will Launch on Consoles Soon

about X hours ago from

After the leak on the Taiwanese Xbox Marketplace last month, it seems 505 Games and Reloaded Games are ready to announce HAWKEN's console release... sort of? The free-to-play title will be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 "late June/early July."If you're not familiar with the game, it's a FPS that puts you into the cockpit of your very own mech. Each of the 30 mechs comes with its own skills and weapons loadout allowing you and your friends to create a team that comprises a variety of different types. Though the game is largely PvP-based, there are two main co-op modes: Bot Destruction and Co-Op Team Deathmatch. The former pits four players against 25 waves of bots with a special mech encountered every fifth wave. The latter is similar to the regular Team Deathmatch mode, only you and five of your friends will take on six A.I. controlled mechs.

Satellite Reign Co-Op Beta Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

Last night we dove into Satellite Reign and it's co-op mode (developer interview here) While the co-op is in beta form right now, when it works, its works extremely well. It offers a satisfying experience of strategy, action, and careful execution. Usually all of that is proceeded by a lot of tom foolery and neon lights. Blade Runner. These are things that make us happy to play Satellite Reign.

[E3 2016] Cuphead's Gameplay Gets Flushed Out a Little

about X hours ago from

Up to this point, much of the gameplay we've seen of Cuphead has been of a little teacup man (or men, in co-op) battling against giant bosses. While boss rush is fun, it's also nice to do something else, like traverse a level. The latest video for the game shows that our wish is granted and you'll be doing more than just fighting boss after boss.Cuphead is still slated for a 2016 release on the PC and Xbox One, and will support two player couch co-op.

Sniper Elite 4 Gets February Release Date

Sniper Elite 4 Gets February Release Date

Not to be forgotten in the flurry of E3 activity, UK developer Rebellion has announced a release date for Sniper Elite 4. The latest entry in the long-running sniper franchise will be available on February 14, 2017.For those keeping track at home, Persona 5 and For Honor will also be released that day. Personally, I know which of those three I'll be playing (hint: it involves high school students), but I'm always down for some slow-motion sniper killing. Despite the crowded scheduling, this date apparently was a better choice for the studio rather than releasing it at the end of 2016 as initially planned. We now know Battlezone will release in October as a launch title alongside PlayStation VR. That gave us a tough decision to make. Ultimately, we’re a relatively small independent studio, and releasing two major titles in the same quarter didn’t seem like a sensible thing to do. A few of our shared internal teams will probably sleep a bit easier now!

[E3 2016] Crackdown 3 Has Been Quietly Pushed To 2017

[E3 2016] Crackdown 3 Has Been Quietly Pushed To 2017

Many of us who caught Microsoft's E3 conference yesterday morning were a bit perplexed when we saw no mention of the forthcoming Crackdown 3.  We wondered if the video Reagent Games put together had been deemed too hot for public consumption, or maybe if the developers had embarked on an orb-fueled weekend rager and simply forgot to send anything.Would-be gumshoes can stand at ease, though, as this mystery was quickly and quietly solved thanks to yesterday's brief announcement.  As it turns out, Crackdown 3 will become one of many titles in line with Microsoft's Play Anywhere vision, which means that it will be playable on both Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One with the purchase of a single copy.  Great news, right?  Unfortunately, it also led into Reagent's next statement:  none shall enjoy the game's Cloud-based destruction until sometime in 2017.It'll obviously never be clear if this delay was caused by Microsoft's multi-platform campaign, but given the way the announcement was worded, it seems likely that it at least contributed.
