Our Weekend In Gaming: Filthy Casuals

Folks, we're really dropping the ball this weekend.  I don't mean, like, "Our roadie, Lenny, forgot to plug in our guitars" levels of ball-dropping.  I'm talking fully-fledged, "Lenny sold all our equipment and escaped to Mexico City" ball-dropping.  Not only are we not playing new and interesting video games, we're instead "tossing the pigskin" and "leveling our Dwarf Shaman" like total scrublords.  Get this, some of us aren't even playing games this weekend.  What are we, Teen Vogue?  I was ready to shut the whole thing down, honestly, if it weren't for Locke hoisting the Obscurity Torch.Ugh.  Just, ugh.  You have one week, Co-Opticrew.  Get it together.Nick Puleo (@NickPuleo) - "No time to game this weekend. But fun will still be had!"

Venture into the Deepest Dark in Evolve Stage 2

about X hours ago from

Earlier this month, Turtle Rock added co-op to Evolve Stage 2 and hinted that there may be in store. A few days ago, they revealed what that additional co-op may look like with "The Deepest Dark."This free add-in, which is currently listed as being in beta, can be found in the Co-op Vs AI queue as a map variant. Rather than pit you and three friends against an A.I. controlled monster, The Deepest Dark seeks to provide something closer to the kind of linear co-op experience you'd find in other first-person shooters. Your main mission is to track down the Queen of the Gorgons in an overrun facility and take her down. If this kind of addition gains ground with the Evolve community, then additional "Co-Op Operations" could be added in the future. As the developer states in their dev blog:

New Legendary Lords Featured in Next Total War: WARHAMMER DLC

about X hours ago from

Prior to the game's release, Creative Assembly laid out their DLC plans for Total War: WARHAMMER on the Total War Wiki. In addition to the Race Pack, which we saw with the Beastmen, and the "Free-LC," the British developer would also be releasing Lord Packs that would contain two new Legendary Lords, new units, and new "Units of Renown." The first one of these packs, "Grim and the Grave," will be released next week. This Lord Pack will add Volkmar the Grim (a wizard) to the Empire faction and Helman Ghorst (a necromancer) to the Vampire Counts. Legendary Lords are a bit more special than the normal lords you can recruit to lead your armies as they have a couple of unique spells/skills they can use in combat as well as having unique questlines they can pursue to gain powerful items. In addition to these two Legendary Lords, two new lord types - the Strigoi Ghoul King and the Arch Lector - will be added for the Counts and the Empire, respectively, along with new regular units and, for the first time, "Units of Renown." The latter are elite versions of existing in-game units with some increased stats and/or unique abilities. Full details about what the pack entails can be found on the Steam store page.

Cartoon Network is taking a shot at the video game market with Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers. The title is being developed by French developer Magic Pockets and is billed as a side-scrolling brawler featuring a few much beloved characters from some of the network's more well-known shows. After accidentally driving the UG-RV through multiple dimensions (which happens more often than you know), Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe, Finn and Jake, Rigby and Mordecai, Gumball, and Clarence have to restore order by defeating the evil shard creatures that appear in his wake. Each character (or pair of characters, in the case of Finn and Jake, and Rigby and Mordecai) has their own particular strengths that work against the creatures, so teaming up is definitely the way to go. The game will support up to four player local, drop-in/drop-out co-op throughout the campaign.Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo 3DS when it arrives on November 8, 2016.

Attack on Titan Co-Op Review

Attack on Titan Co-Op Review

Omega Force has done something with Attack on Titan that surprised me. Rather than apply the rote formula of their Dynasty Warriors franchise to yet another IP, they’ve focused on creating a gameplay experience that does its best to mirror ideas of the property itself; and for the most part, it works.

about X hours ago from

Regular fans of our Monday night co-op streams may remember seeing us check out Red Solstice a couple times. It's a pretty interesting squad-based tactical shooter that requires a great degree of cooperation. The development team behind it, Ironward, is setting their sights on bringing some of that same tactical thinking to a twin-stick shooter with Solstice Chronicles: Missing in Action.Set within the same universe as Red SolsticeSolstice Chronicles: MIA puts you in the shoes of a "corporate grunt" that must fight off hordes of mutants infected by the STROL virus in order to track down a cure. At your side is a drone that can you can use to stem the tide of enemies. The title is currently aiming to feature a "skill tree system with Diablo 2 style progression, featuring 4 classes" and local co-op for two players, each of whom will be able to customize their own grunt however they see fit.Solstice Chronicles: Missing in Action will support two players locally throughout the campaign and will be released for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One sometime in 2017.
