A Quiver of Crows Launches, Brings Co-Op Shooting to a Zombie Bird World

about X hours ago from

Remember that time in 2015 when we talked about A Quiver of Crows? Well, it's time to talk about it again! The twin stick shooter set in a world of resurrected and ghoulish creatures has finally been released, complete with a lovely two player couch co-op mode I demand be renamed as "crow-op".Crows aren't really known for their prowess with weaponry. Unless dropping pebbles in a jar to fish out a treat counts. This crow's got it going on with a nice blaster that upgrades based on enemy kills along with some extra attacks to slowly unlock. You start with a little pea shooter, move on to a spread shot, etc., just like any other shmup. There are a couple of standout features in A Quiver of Crows that make it really interesting. For starters, the non-sci-fi setting is a nice change of pace. Who needs aliens and ships when you've got crows and crunchy ghouls? Second, enemy AI is less about patterns and more about going for the kill. This means you're constantly in danger, transforming the experience from an act of memorization to pure reflexes. And third, co-op. Yes, we love co-op, and this game works really well with two players.

Wasteland 3 Will Feature Co-Op Aspects

Wasteland 3 Will Feature Co-Op Aspects

While inXile's initial return to the world of Wasteland was a Kickstarter affair, the third title is being funded entirely from the industry developed crowd-funding site Fig. In a recent update for their Wasteland 3 campaign, Chris Keenan (VP of Development) revealed some more details about what's planned for the game's co-op.The game will actually feature both synchronous and asynchronous co-op for the campaign. What this means is that you will explicitly start up a campaign with your friend, each of you will get your own squad of Rangers to control and kit out as you like, and you're free to stick together or wander about independently. You can even continue playing the game if your friend isn't online, and vice versa. The actions you or your friend take within the world while the other is offline will still affect it, thus you could log in to some startling changes. In the update post, Chris goes over an example scenario where one player accepts a mission from some smugglers, unbeknownst to the other player. The second player, meanwhile, decides to attack the smugglers as part of a different mission. This leads to a new situation arising where the remaining smugglers show up at the Ranger Base and want to know just what you two are trying to pull.

PAYDAY 2: The Big Score Impressions

Despite its ups and downs, PAYDAY 2 has weathered the storm and is still going strong. When the console version, PAYDAY 2: Crimewave Edition was first released last year, the promise of the same content (both paid and free) that the PC players were enjoying would be coming. Last month, it finally arrived as "The Big Score."Perron's ImpressionsFollowing its August 2013 release, Payday 2 has received an abundance of paid and free DLC to keep its community thriving on the PC. While many have gotten a taste of the base game on the consoles, we’re sure there are quite a few who haven’t experienced what the add-on content has to offer. Overkill Software recently unleashed Payday 2: The Big Score Edition among the masses, which lumps together a sizable portion of DLC (free and paid) and stands as a nice entry point for those new to the series, and we decided to check it out.

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour Stream Recap

about X hours ago from

Last night four middle aged men tried to relive their teenage years of playing some classic Duke Nukem 3D in co-op. The recent release of Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour gave us a chance to not only check out the game with some fancy new visual effects, but all new levels designed by some of the game's original creators. We were stoked.Unfortunately for us, it seems the game doesn't have a very stable online architecture. We sadly couldn't keep a connection long enough to even complete a level. This was a game that used to run over 14.4 Modems, and the only time it would disconnect is when your Mom accidentally picked up the phone.MOM!!!! Don't go on the phone for the next hour, I'm playing on the computer with Dave!
